Very attentive staff. One of the nicest restaurants that I know of in Troy especially for a night of celebration.

We visited B Graves once again for a Family Birthday meal. My previous visit's experience led me back to choose the Chicken pasta dish with Marinara sauce. The server announced they were out of chicken that evening. Good GOSH man! It's 5:30 in the evening with about 3 other tables seated. The manager/management of this place evidently is just not on top of his game. Fresh chicken by the case is available for sale at a market just one mile north. I think I've had it with B Graves. We've never have had a 5* evening at this place, yet they demand 5* prices. Just no value here. read more

I really wanted B Graves in Troy to be good -- this was my second visit, hoping for a better experience after the first. Unfortunately, it still fell short. I ordered the filet (medium) and asked for au poivre, which even cost extra on the menu. When it arrived, there was no pepper at all on the steak -- just a plain cream sauce. After I asked about it, the bartender mentioned it wasn't a traditional au poivre and came back with some coarse black pepper after asking to sprinkled on top. For clarity, au poivre literally means "with pepper" -- the classic French preparation features a steak crusted in cracked peppercorns, seared, and finished with a brown Cognac-and-peppercorn reduction made from the pan drippings. Nowhere should a simple Alfredo-style cream sauce be called "au poivre." For the upcharge, I was expecting authenticity and depth of flavor, not a misrepresentation. The service was friendly and the atmosphere pleasant, but my first visit also had issues -- my wife actually found a piece of plastic from a salad bag in her salad. Mistakes happen, but after two visits, it's hard to overlook the lack of attention to detail. read more

This is a lovely cozy spot in downtown Troy. The quality of the food is outstanding. We ordered one of the specials for Valentines, steak and lobster tail. My steak was excellent quality but a bit overcooked and the lobster tail was delicious and overcooked as well. Thankfully the quality was so good it overshadowed the fact that the proteins were overcooked. I would recommend this restaurant and give it an 8 out of 10 for atmosphere alone. Went for a private party, we had the entire top floor to ourselves with our own bartenders- great service. We were served appetizers that were buffet style, which included quesadillas, flatbread, fruit, dips etc. food was good and the atmosphere was very nice. Will return to try the regular service. read more

Food quality was horrible last week. Too salty and not fresh. Place was not very busy which should have allowed more care for the food. However, things have gone tremendously since the owners are rarely there anymore. When they are there, they check on to ensure the food is of high quality. Those days are rare it seems. read more

This is a Gem in Troy, Alabama and the brunch was so good. You better make sure you have a reservation because the slots fill up fast. We had a large party and I can say we were seated quickly with reservation and the food came out quick also. The vibe was nice as everyone was enjoying meals and family. Upstairs was not open but you can host holiday parties and gatherings there with the space up stairs. They have a full bar and they have many specialty drinks they provide. I had the pimento cheese ball fritters that were so flavorful i had to get another one to fake home. I also had pork rinds and fried green tomato for appetizer / small plate For the main dish i had the country breakfast that came with buttermilk biscuit smothered with sausage gravy, two slices of house smoked bacon , grits and two eggs cooked to order. I also added al la carte chicken breast. My husband & I were in Troy, AL for a wedding this past weekend. It seems like they're a bit understaffed but we are patient and don't mind to wait for good food. And our food was good! Great even! We both got delicious mac & cheese. My husband got the most tender delicious steak ever. I got salmon which was yummy. My only complaint is the lemon dill sauce just tasted like mustard to both of us-- but it was still okay. My creamed spinach could have been a little thicker, but again, still yummy. This place is overpriced for absolutely no reason and they styled the place as though its so fancy when the food and the service don't reflect. The omelette was drowning in cheddar cheese and the eggs were so thin, I had to scoop the cheese out. Plate came looking so plain and unseasoned. We all met from out of town for lunch; the food, ambiance and service were wonderful! We had the pimento balls, burger and different salads; the house vinaigrette was very tasty and the shrimp and fried chicken were cooked perfectly. I will definitely return when in town again and am so happy that the downtown has this charming, nice restaurant. I wish them the most success and hope it continues to thrive. Found this little gem on our road trip through Alabama. Fantastic! Friendly and helpful servers. Very nice bourbon forward mint julep. If you like pimento cheese you've got to try their fritters. The fried pickle chips were also pretty awesome. Servings were so big we shared a Mediterranean seafood pasta entree. Again, amazing. Just a reminder to always compare Google reviews to what you see on Yelp. Yelp has it right, this place portrays itself as a 5 star restaurant but performed more like a local burger place. The menu looks similar to a Ruth Chris menu where you pay for sides ala carte but barely get enough for a kids serving. I was told Rib eye was bone in but came bone out. Never saw a menu where they listed steak as market price, I wasn't asking for lobster! My steak was decent had a good char and horseradish cream was also good but that's it. Moscow mule was mediocre, service was slow, and I literally got 5 thin pieces of asparagus as my side. I won't be back and recommend you look elsewhere for steak options in Troy. read more

Save your money and time! 3 of us in our party. It was Troy graduation night...the waitress kept telling us there was a party of 7 and party of 15 slowing the kitchen down...but other than that, lots of empty tables. Seated at 6:40 and we did not get our meal until 8:20ish! Took a long time to get our drinks after ordering; a long time to get our pimento app. We ordered the "chef's special" $28 stuffed chicken w mashed potatoes and green beans....after over an hour waiting for our meals, our waitress informed my hubby the mashed potatoes were out, so they replaced them with French fries. We had 1 plain fettuccine Alfredo; 1 fettuccine Alfredo w grilled chicken. Waited and waited. We finally asked our waitress for the check and she said she asked the chef to drop the fries and get our plates out (after 8pm). Waited and finally our food came out. The $28 "chef's selection" stuffed chicken in the picture was over cooked and dry. Underwhelming with the French fries. The 2 fettucine Alfredo dishes were dried out and not really any sauce to taste and the grilled chicken was overcooked. Our water glasses were dry; no refills....we never really saw our waitress much. B Graves was such a let down to celebrate our child's graduation day! Might be a long one but here we go- I've been 4 times. The first time the service was so slow but the pasta was so good! So i wanted to go back. The next time I went back the Alfredo was so salty I could barely eat it. But the pasta was so good the first time, I went back to give it another chance. 2 of us got the veggie pasta. When it came out, one dish had literally 2 slices of mushroom on it- and when i say literally, i mean literally 2 slices. The pasta portions were also maybe 1/3rd the size that they were the first 2 times. Looked like a kids portion. We asked the server and she said she'd bring more veggies... she brought out actual raw sliced onions. We left still hungry. I said I wouldn't be back BUT we decided to give brunch a chance. Mistake. We had a reservation. The restaurant was busy, still a few empty tables but busy. We got sat within 5-10 minutes of arriving. It took over an hour to even get our food. The grits were cold(the shredded cheese on top wouldn't melt into them) and the chicken and waffle were cold. I quit eating the chicken about 3 bites in because I wasn't even sure if it was cooked completely. The toast was cold and wasn't served with butter or jam (which we would have asked for if our server ever came back). It seemed like it had all possibly been forgotten in the back. We NEVER got drink refills... not even water. We asked 4 times for more coke and finally had to get up ourselves and get it from the bartender. No one checked on us after we got our food to see how it was. We asked for drink refills, ranch, ketchup and a napkin (one of our group didn't get a cloth napkin when we sat down) when our food was dropped off and the server never came back with any of that. For the first time in my entire life I didn't leave a tip. For what they charge it's even more unacceptable. $60 for our check for 2 people and the best thing I have to say is they have nice napkins in the bathroom to dry your hands. No no read more

This is my fourth (and last) experience with B Graves. The first time I visited for brunch was absolutely wonderful. The second, there was a roach inches from our table- Still, the food was great despite one of our entrées being cold. During the third visit my partner's food was quite literally covered in oil AFTER explaining while ordering that she has an intolerance to excessive amounts of oil. The waitress also had no clue what was included in the entrées we inquired about and proceeded to openly guess. The fourth time, after giving it one last go, everything seemed fine until I opened up my leftovers and discovered a thin hoop of metal inside of my waffle (pictured). It looks as if something was being shredded or cut and a sliver of metal fell into the batter. This is definitely not any kind of herb or even a hair, it is hard, shiny, and silver. B Graves, I had a great brunch with some drinks at the bar. Your hostess at the door need som direction as she was turning me away at 1:30pm stating they did not have the staff to sit us. I asked if we could sit at the bar and wait and reluctantly she sat us at the bar whispering something to the bar tender. Come to find out you all close on Sunday and 2pm so if I would of come back at 2pm you would be closed. If I was the owner I would terminate her. May 2016 Ordered a veggie plate to go. The fried green tomatoes tasted like wet cucumbers fried in cornmeal...could also tell that grease wasn't changed because it tasted fishy. Macaroni had NO seasoning and my "side salad" consisted of a piece of romaine lettuce that was broken into 3 pieces, a tomato slice that was cut into fours (same for cucumber), a 3 carrot strings...the entire "salad) fit into the top, left space of my to-go box...no dressing. $10.90...a disgrace December 2018 Still no good. Ordered the chicken and waffles and to my surprise, the chicken was NOT seasoned prior to frying. It tasted awful. Called the waitress over because I thought maybe they'd made a mistake so she sent it back. "Chef" fried another piece of chicken without seasoning and put the seasoning in a condiment cup for me to sprinkle over it. I give up on this place. Wow, I had the worst, and I mean the absolute worst restaurant experience here. So it's Father's Day at 1:15 pm and my family (with my two small children) decided to eat at B. Graves. We were originally planning on going to our favorite place, Dolce, but unfortunately they were packed. We entered the empty restaurant and waited about two minutes for the host to show. Once she arrived at the host's podium, she did not speak, or even acknowledge us. She walked up with a bad attitude all over her face. So, I said "4 please". She rudely grabbed menus and I could tell she was trying to decide to put us at a booth or a table. I asked "can we have a booth please?" She snapped "the booths are tight" and looked at my pregnant stomach. I looked at the booths and said "no they are not. We are good." She sat the menus down at a booth and left for the back. A few seconds later we hear the lady yelling "40 minutes 'till closing time!" She came angrily walking out of the kitchen area. I can't believe that she is being so rude and at this point I have lost trust in her ability to do anything. The last thing I need is for our food to be mishandled. At this point every ounce of patience and niceness has left my body and the building. I asked her "is it a problem that we are here?" She asked "why, do I have an attitude?" My response "yes. You do have an attitude and you had it since you walked up". We were getting up to leave and I could see the satisfaction on her face. So I asked to see the manager. Of course no one is available at the time. After me telling her that she is a terrible representative of the restaurant and after her being a smart ass"don't hurt your pregnancy" we left. This review goes solely to the quality of food and service fir a private party. My company had 40+ people do a happy hour and dinner upstairs. The servers were incredibly friendly. The appetizers were very good, especially the the artichoke dip. The bar staff was quick on the drinks and helpful. When dinner came it took a second to get the food out but honestly it was a large group for the space and with a little teamwork it was quite fast. I had the steak with étouffée and it was amazing,seriously one of the best steaks I had in years. Everyone's meal was well cooked, and served hot. The staff did a great job! This was the WORST service I have ever had at a restaurant. There were only 2 other parties when we arrived and they finished within 30 minutes so we were the only ones in the restaurant. Our servicer was not properly trained. She couldn't answer basic questions about the menu or specials and after stating she would check, never returned with any information. Our salads were brought out with our food and when we questioned that, she stated, "That's on me. They put them in a different place and I didn't realize they were ready." She was too busy huddled up behind the bar with the other 4 servers. There was no management onsite and the entire experience was extremely disappointing. We came in for brunch here and were very disappointed. The service was miserably slow considering we were one of three tables. Our coffee arrived cold and it took 20 minutes of sitting there with it for the waitress to come and bring us more. We had to initiate the ordering of actual food. Upon the foods arrival, it wasn't bad: I had the omelet and my boyfriend had the Hangover Hash. I ordered an extra biscuit because the omelet could have used an additional side included with the meal but it didn't have one. When we got the check, we were shocked. For not phenomenal brunch food, it was $40. Our coffees were probably 1 cups worth of average brew at $3.00 a piece. I mean seriously, tiny. My omelet (cheese, green pepper, and sausage) with two slices of regular sandwich bread toast was $12 when I could have made it at home for $5. My boyfriend's hash was $16 but it had a lot of steak so we presume that was worth it. The biscuit was hard and like store-bought dough. I am an avid bruncher, willing to spend this much on an excellent meal but this just wasn't worth it. I presume because they are one of the only "nice" restaurants in town they feel as if they can overprice their food, squeezing everything they can out of their customers. The restaurant was empty so obviously this is not working. Perhaps at dinner the quality of the restaurant improves? Not entirely sure, but we will never be having brunch here again. read more

Took a dozen people here for lunch on graduation day, and boy was all of the food delicious! Definitely one of the best meals ever!

Went with the a group of 9. Three children. Two steaks were ordered medium rare. They were medium to medium well. One steak ordered medium was a perfect medium rare. Salmon came out almost raw. Caesar salad came out warm and wilted. Chicken was super dry. Three kids got chicken fingers and grilled cheese. Chicken fingers and grilled cheese were perfect. Adults were jealous. Awesome atmosphere and great location for a meal. And we have had some great ones in the past. Only giving this review in hopes we can many more in the future. read more

I was lucky enough to be treated to lunch here the day before graduation. It was empty, which seemed odd considering how packed the town was, but meant we had our pick of tables. Personally, I can't complain about prices - not only because I didn't pay, but because the prices were in line with any mid-range restaurant in my hometown so they didn't stick out as odd. I've always lived in over-priced tourist towns, though, so I wouldn't know a fair price if my life depended on it. The decor/ambience was nice, kind of classic. It seemed like it would fit in anywhere. The server was also friendly, but was slow even though it was just us - and I don't mean the food, which was fine, but I mean checking to refill our drinks or if we wanted sugar for our coffee and that sort of thing. The food was really good, I mean - I had no problem eating every bite, happily. I had a chicken sandwich and mashed potatoes with sweet tea because that's my right, and traveling is when you're supposed to cheat on your diet. I came here for an event and was not disappointed. B. Graves is a two story restaurant located on the square in downtown Troy. They have an upscale Southern ambiance. Upstairs the outer wall is lined with fireplaces, which I assume are no longer used. I can't review their normal dinner, as we had the restaurant rented out for the night, but their appetizers were good. Except for the meatballs, which tasted like cheap frozen "meat." The pimento cheese fritters, southern bruschetta, and crab cakes were wonderful. The stuffed mushrooms were not the best I've had. Be careful on their stairs. The upstairs floor has many places that are easy to trip over where the floor transitions from wood to carpet, etc. I believe the only bathroom in the restaurant was located upstairs, which is inconvenient. The bathrooms are in desperate need of a remodel. The lady's room is one small room with two toilets divided by a wall, no stalls. Thankfully there is a lock on the main door. Their service was very good, they kept the tables cleared and had enough bartenders working at both the upstairs and downstairs bars. Back to the bathrooms - I feel they did not prepare well for a party. Hardly any hand towels, and a tiny trashcan - I'm talking about a trashcan that is not made for a public bathroom because it can likely only hold five paper towels. This one of my favorite restaurant because it has delicious food that you can't find anywhere else in Troy like for example one of there foods on the brunch menu is a hamburger with whatever you put on it with a Fried age in it. My boyfriend and I had reservations for our Valentine's date. We were greeted and seated at 7:50p. No one came to our table to ask did we want anything to drink. No one came to ask us if what we wanted to order for food. NO ONE came to our table at all. It was not busy. The servers continued to walk past us numerous times. They served the other five couples. I seen waiters whispering behind the bar. My boyfriend and I walked out the restaurant at 8:40p. I called and asked to speak with the manager about the situation. The manager stated "sorry it must was some miscommunication thank you for letting us know" and that was all. We we're the only black couple in there and we never got waited on. 0/10 would not recommend this restaurant.
