We ordered brisket plate and smoked chicken. Brisket was too good, amount could be more. For one person amount is just right.

Hole in the wall atmosphere. Good food. Good service. Friday and Saturday crowds are a little heavy. Mondays they have free pool and Wednesdays they have a pool tournament. read more

I have driven by this barbecue joint for years and finally decided to give the place a try. Walking in, there was a sign to "Please Seat Yourself," so I did. My server was there and was friendly enough. I went with a pulled pork sandwich. I also ordered a coleslaw. The sandwich was about seven dollars and the coleslaw was three dollars and fifty cents. The sandwich was worth the cost, I thought the coleslaw was overpriced for the portion size. The sandwich was good. The coleslaw was okay, but nothing special. The place also had a decent enough vibe and ambiance. It was pretty much what I think a barbecue joint should be with the proper ramshackle ambiance. All in all, my meal here was a good overall experience. I will give it four stars. read more

I used to love this place. But it has gone down hill big time. Driving back from a show in Montgomery I insisted we stop. I wish we wouldn't have. Tables were sticky. And it was so Smoky inside I could barely enjoy my meal. Is it a bar or is it a bbq place? Cause I'm pretty sure you can't smoke in restaurants. Food was so mediocre. The burger was a hockey puck overcooked. Bbq sauce container had sauce all over it. Everything was just really run down. Bathrooms were dirty and toilet cover was falling off. Just really disappointing. I won't go outta my way to go back. read more

Good = fantastic. Service = fun and terrific. Ambiance = interesting. We stopped for a quick bite around 4:30 having missed lunch. Ordered the brisket platter which comes with two sides and Texas Toast. That brisket was delicious. Tender, moist, flavorful! The bbq they offer adds just the right touch and doesn't outshine or overpower the brisket. We chose potato salad and BBQ beans for our sides. The potato salad was a winner. The BBQ beans were fine. Our waitress was delightful. They split our meal for us at no r tra charge. We could not have been happier with this meal. read more

Finally! A bbq place with beer! Delicious pulled pork sandwich, fried okra and a cold beer! Great service as well!!!

We have driven by this place for years when driving south to visit relatives and every time we pass my wife says "we need to stop by there to eat one day". Well this month we were running really early and it was so close to lunch time we decide to stop there for lunch. My wife suffers from asthma and the moment we walk into this place she notices the stench of cigarette smoke. She asks if this place was a smoking establishment and the girl behind the counter points to the other end of the building says they have a bar area over there and people are allowed to smoke there. This building is just one long open area so smoke is able to float free everywhere. She couldn't handle the smoke so we left without any food. But knowing this place has a bar inside, it may explain why it looks like it is always so busy. I suspect people come here more to enjoy the liquor than eating BBQ. read more

Well .. twilight zone is the best way to describe it. I felt as if i would never get to leave this place . The food took 1.5 hrs to come out The bbq was old was not fresh at all Microwave for sure . If you are a non-smoker, don't even bother. The BBQ smelled amazing when we got out of our vehicle. We walked in, turned around, and walked out again. In that short time, my throat and eyes were burning. Even tho the sign said we were on the non-smoking side, it was cloudy and overwhelming with cigarette smoke. No ventilation? read more

Beware , I went online to look at their menu and I ordered from that menu. The rib dinner with two sides. It stated in print 22.99. when I got to the restaurant they were charging me $45.10. I showed them their menu from the internet that I saved a copy of and they where very cavalier about the situation. Then to add insult to injury they added a 3 and 1/2% surcharge for using a credit card. Their ribs are good but the transaction was horrible. I gave him one star only because that's the least I can give them. read more

Have driven by here for years on the way to the beach as other reviews have mentioned. We were craving bbq and catfish. Both are served here. Food was pretty terrible honestly, the bbq and beans were similar to what public school systems serve up. Catfish was worst I've ever tried. Sweet tea was rotten and soured. We also had our daughter with us and the cigarette smoke from the bar section is strong in the restaurant side. Unfortunately I cannot recommend this place as a restaurant to eat. Now if you want to stop and have some beers and have a dive bar vibe going and smoke a couple cigarettes with the locals, then this place is great for that. I think if they advertised it more as a bar/hangout than a bbq house it would be a more accurate/successful description of what to expect. read more

Great food and reasonably priced. Can't eat in bc of the cigarette smoke but I don't mind takeout

We like to stick to the mom and pop local-type restaurants. We'd driven by this LOTS of times and finally stopped. We call it the dancing pig. (Neon Sign) Service was very good. Had the smoked chicken breast and 2 sides. Fried okra and Cole slaw. All were really good. Brisket was just ok. The Cowboy Nuggets were awesome. (Cheese bacon and jalapeños, hush puppy type balls). I'd stop again for the chicken. Boneless breast and took 1/2 home for lunch tomorrow. read more

Excellent ribs, pulled pork, chicken and brisket! Even the cole slaw and Fried okra was excellent. We lived in KC for years and have had lots of BBQ. This may have been our favorite ever! The ribs melted in our mouths. And our server was so sweet! read more

As either you come into or leave Troy, you come across a barrage of signs that says something close to "award winning BBQ, ribs, etc." And out in the middle of nowhere is a very noticeable dive called the BBQ House. The neon pig by the road and all the signs makes you not miss this place. This is a dive for sure. It's half restaurant, half pool hall bar, and way too much cigarette smoke smell. There's also a sign up by the bar that says No Profanity or Fighting. One fellow was definitely not following this rule. In short, you know that bully from elementary school? Well...this is where he comes to pick fights at...when he's 45. Haha Despite all of this, the place looks cleaner than you think. So after being promised "World Famous, Award-winning BBQ", I just had to try it all with the combo plate. The plate comes with ribs, chicken, pork, 2 sides, and toast. The world-famous didn't get off to a great start. My tea tasted like that abomination known as Gold Peak or some way too sweet tea out of a gallon jug from the grocery store. Well, there goes one star. The toast with BBQ sauce was the first thing I tried. The toast was some of the best I've ever had from a BBQ place as it was crispy on the outside but soft in the middle with the garlic butter that was spread around it. The BBQ sauce is some of the sweetest I've ever had with honey probably the main ingredient. Very good if you love sweet BBQ sauce. The ribs and chicken were ok. Nothing world-famous about them. What a letdown though after all those signs of world-famous haha. The pork was the best out of the 3 meats. It mixed really well with the BBQ sauce, had a nice seasoning to it, and was maybe a little too tender...almost to the point of being soggy. My 2 sides were Cole slaw and potato salad. The potato salad was light and fluffy and pretty much all potato. Nothing exciting about it. The Cole slaw on the other hand was phenomenal. It was nice and creamy and something was added to it to give it an orange color. Both sides were homemade. My plate plus tea was $19. A little too pricey for what I received in my opinion. So the BBQ house turned out to be an interesting stop with a pretty good meal. But this is not world-famous and I would even say maybe not Alabama famous. read more

Passed by this place a going to Montgomery saying what many reviewers said, "we need to try this place" stopped in finally about a month ago and wow. The smell of cigarette smoke is all you can smell. There is a bar I guess that they allow smoking and it stinks up the place bad. We ordered the brisket and the pulled pork sandwich. The pulled pork was ok. The brisket was almost all fat, like the fat cap you're supposed to clean off before you cook it, that's what we were served. Skip this place unless you like bad bbq and 2nd hand smoke. read more

The food was heavenly. It might have been the worlds best barbecue and burger. The service was lovely and everyone was very nice. There's a bar in the back which served a nice place to get a drink. I've driven by this place for years when traveling between Troy and Montgomery. I finally decided to stop and grab a quick lunch om March 30th, 2020, because I knew that all the drive-thru places in Troy would be wrapped up because of the Covid-19 distancing measures. I went with my usual order, a pork sandwich, and a side of bbq beans. The sandwich was very good, and I enjoyed my meal. Will stop by again in the future. read more

My rating would be a 4.8. The service was incredible. We were greeted promptly after seating ourselves. The server was knowledgeable about the menu. We ordered the combo plate with chicken, pork, ribs, fried okra, baked beans, and Texas toast and a bowl of Brunswick stew. The food was amazing. It was more than enough for two people. We left food on the table. The portions are huge. You get a lot of food for your money! The ribs fell off bone. The chicken was incredible with a great smoke flavor. The pork was tender with a good smoky flavor. The sauce was good. It is a good sweet tomato based sauce. The only drawback is this mom and pop joint is attached to a dive bar that is literally described in every sad country song known to man! To use the restroom, I had to walk through the dive bar. Word of advice, DO NOT MAKE EYE CONTACT. The dive part of this place is smoke filled and sad. Go during the day, and you should be okay! read more

Great service and very friendly folks but not the best BBQ. I got a brisket Sandwich.

Hidden little hole in the wall. Relaxed atmosphere with good food. Nothing fancy but the food was enjoyed by all 4 in our group.

We stop at the BBQ House on our way to Florida from Indiana I highly recommend this joint if you love smoked meat and cold beer. Top five smoked brisket I've tasted. Always stop here on our way to the beach. Today I decided to stop up the road for a burger at a "so called" best burger joint. 3 cars outside and was told they were busy and it would be 20-25 min for a burger....?!?!? What??? I left and came here for lunch, which is what I should have done in the first place because this place is always wonderful and the staff is super friendly. Within 5 min I had a burger and fries in front of me. The burger was loaded and I felt like I needed a bath after I finished it. This is a great place for a wonderful burger if you are ever passing by. Good food and super friendly staff. Thank y'all again. See you on my next trip down this way. read more

The BBQ pork is juicy! Not dried out at all. My boss at everything off the ribs. They were clean. We were greeted cordially. It has a smoking and non smoking area. There is a back deck and pool tables. The waitress was just right. Kinda like Flo from Alice but sweeter. I feel like I gambled and won. It's hard to describe. One side is light and the other side with the bar is dark. I would definitely stop again. read more

In 2012 my close friend and I took a BBQ Odyssey from JAX FL driving to Memphis in 4 days as much BBQ we can could partake along the way. Part I ~ Stop 1 The B-B-Q House was out first stop at 11am on Saturday outside of Troy AL. The Pork sandwich was memorable with good sweet sauce; the fries were good tempo too. And they offered a complementary to go sandwich on the "House". Stopped here for lunch after a work trip to Troy. It definitely has the feel of a local, hole-in-the-wall restaurant. Good service and good food. About $10 got a plate with 2 sides. I got the 1/2 lb ribs (2 ribs) woth okra and potato salad. There is smoking allowed in the restaurant because it is also a bar, so be forewarned.
