Russell was straightforward from the start and took the time to explain the entire process during our initial call, setting realistic expectations while also helping to build my excitement about the process. His level of organization and support really stood out. To make sure I was ready to move quickly, he provided a detailed checklist of all the documents needed for the application process and reviewed everything for completeness before we even started tours. When we did our walk-throughs, we saw almost 20 apartments in a single day. He filmed video clips of every unit and posted them to WhatsApp immediately, which allowed me to get instant feedback from my family and compare options in real-time. He was incredibly responsive throughout the financial approval and contract negotiations, making the logistical side of the move much easier to handle. I'm now settled into my new place in Carnegie Hill, and it's exactly what I was looking for. Russell is professional, highly responsive, and genuinely cares about his clients. If you're looking for a broker who is efficient but also makes the process feel personal and supported, Russell is a great go-to.

Even before deciding to list, he made several visits and was making an effort marketing my apt on his social media accounts and making flyers to hand out at his other open houses. Mind you, I hadn't even agreed to list with him yet. Because they are a boutique firm, they were able to figure out a commission structure that made listing feasible where other larger firms couldn't. Charles is ethical, fair, knowledgeable, a SUPER energetic hard worker, and expert negotiator. I gave him a small window of opportunity to sell my apt, and much to my surprise I had a FULL PRICE OFFER in 2 weeks! Charles, you have a great business model - Show up, ask for business, show up again, ask again, meet / exceed deadlines, sprinkle in a dash of outtake humor, and crush it on negotiations. Huge thanks to Charles and BPI!!

They handled all the photos, promotion, background checks and paperwork, really paying attention to what mattered to me personally, which was a huge weight off my mind whilst managing an international move. As a serious and qualified applicant, I felt completely disregarded throughout the process. The lack of professionalism ultimately cost me the opportunity to secure an apartment I was genuinely interested in. In addition, the tone of the communication was at times dismissive and rude, which made the experience even worse. Based on my experience, it felt like certain applicants may have already been preselected, while others were not given a fair opportunity or transparent communication regarding the listings. There are New York Minutes and there are New York Moments…read more A New York Minute is when something happens REALLY fast. A blink of an eye. AKA - how fast apartments move off the market in NYC (as I learned the hard way). If you don't act fast, the apartment you want is gone. A New York Moment is when things just line up perfectly. This is how I describe my experience working with David at Lang. I had contacted him about a listing and when he wrote back to me, it was already in contract with someone else (I told you - these things go fast!). A few days later, on a Sunday, he emails me out of the blue with a listing saying that apartment was just getting back on the market. Did I want to see it? Of course! So because I knew first hand how fast things go, on a Sunday night, last minute David met me to show me this listing. I saw my 27th (yes...27. That's how fast apartments go in NYC) apartment. And took it on the spot. Since I'm self employed, David walked me through exactly what extra/other paperwork I would need to show my qualifications for the apartment. He was super communicative with me throughout the whole process - texts and emails were answered surprisingly fast. I never felt like I was bothering him with questions or requests. He worked with me to move up the start date of my lease and facilitated getting me in touch with the super to get keys in (my) hand 48 hours after signing my lease. It was truly a whirlwind experience, but in moments of unease he assured me he was with me every step of the way, and even ended an email with how excited he was for me. I highly recommend working with David. He's enthusiastic, and clearly a people person. He leveled with me when the moment called for it and brought joy to the experience.
