They're moist, good crunch, delicious and just what I need to lift my mood on a tough day. Here are some of my favorite cookies: Chocolate Chip, Chocolate Crackle, Rascal, Mexican Wedding Cake, Russian Tea Cake, M&M, etc. Don't think I've ever eaten a cookie I didn't like. When I come here, just about every time I get a big box of cookies so I can eat them over the next couple days. The first time I had a cookie from here I was hooked. My best friend, who use to work there, brought me some on our girls day. I couldn't get over how soft these were. The oatmeal with Carmel is my favorite because, it's a soft chewy cookie unlike any I've ever had. So I get to Chico and hang out with my sis. We go out in my "new" car....we go to Raley's to pic up sis's prescription, then the cookie store. Lisa says it's the best in town. I've told Lisa about the thump thump thump and how annoyed I am at this weirdness with my car. She won't allow me to buy Pepperidge Farm cookies at Raleys. I must have the local cookie store cookies. Sigh.... She hears the thump thump noise now too. So when we get to the cookie store she gets on her hands and knees to look under the car. I was expecting quite a plethora of tasty treats from a place called "The Cookie Shoppe". Though I'm not overly fond of the use of the antiquated "shoppe" I could certainly live with it were their product the most delicious delectables imaginable--they are sadly not so. I found their cookies dry, lacking flavor and--nearly their most unpardonable sin--completely unimaginative. If you're going to charge exorbitant prices for something you "specialize" in, you should certainly depart from the tired old recipes found in every kitchen and--heaven forbid--in the likes of the Betty Crocker Cookbook. How difficult can it be to make up a few fun and interesting combinations to go with the chocolate chunk and the peanut butter? What about cranberries with pistachios or German chocolate with some pecans and coconut? Is that really so far out there? But shame on you Cookie Shoppe for your boring, floury, under-salted base batter, how can you charge for that? I get better tasting cookies from Safeway for half the price. Flavors range from coconut to gingerbread, walnuts to caramel, and every different kind of chocolate chip you can imagine - they have it all. They do cookies for parties too! You can order giant cookies as birthday cake replacements or tons of little cookies for everyone to share. They're always very happy to take orders and make celebrations special - even if it's short notice! The best thing about the cookies are that they are ALWAYS perfectly chewy and delicious. Now, I am of the opinion that crunchy-cookie people secretly have deeply rooted psychological issues, since chewy cookies are obviously the best. My only (small) gripe is that their menu brags that the Coconut Spice cookie is known to induce labor - "60% of the time it works every time." Being 9 months pregnant, I thought, "What the heck?" I ate 2 of these delicious cookies, & nothing happened. This also happened to a fellow prego friend of mine. She ate a couple, & nothing happened for her, either. I have yet to meet a woman in town that these "labor cookies" have worked for.
