Insanely good ice cream with great vegan and traditional options! Savor is located in a new-ish shopping center in Chico. We had lunch nearby and strolled around, only to stumble into Savor for an after-lunch treat. Boy, am I glad we did! Two mini scoops of vegan birthday cake ice cream are all we needed to know that Savor is the real deal. I am always a bit skeptical of vegan ice cream, but this stuff was legit. The texture was great, and the chunks of birthday cake were insanely delicious. There is a great selection of indoor and outdoor seating, and the boho decor was nice. We ended up visiting again in the evening, where the line was out the door! Clearly, Savor has a reputation in Chico. We picked up a pistachio chip cheesecake and an almond frangipane blondie to enjoy at our hotel. The blondie was absolutely to die for. The cake-like texture was amazing, and the almond flavor was perfect. Warmed up with ice cream? Yes please! The cheesecake was very good and had a mild pistachio flavor. My family and I went back for a redo on the customer service front after our rocky experience last time. I'm very pleased to report all parts of our experience were perfect. We were glad to see full indoor and outdoor seating at the shop. Lots of happy customers and kind staff. I took the same brood of people as last time (three crazy kids and husband) plus another adult. We got even more ice cream than we did last and they were quick about getting us everything we needed. They were awesome about us trying the new (delicious!) vegan chai and vanilla even with a line forming. Everyone got out quickly with samples and cones. I'm still obsessed with the tiny spoons and the flavor did NOT disappoint. I've eaten vegan ice cream all over the United States (big and small cities alike) and Savor is, by far and away, the best. Ok listen I love this ice cream so much, I'm gf and df and it's an amazing option. Yes the price is high but it's worth it. If I could just rate the actual ice cream this would be a 5/5 rating. The service is just so bad. The employees are always so rude and act like you're inconveniencing them by politely ordering and paying for ice cream. I always tip too and it's still the same thing. I genuinely don't understand how you can have such a bad attitude working at an ice cream shop. I've been coming to Savor since the official opening and the service has just gotten worse. I've been meaning to try Savor since they opened, and finally got to today! Celebrated my mom's birthday today here today, and the whole family loved it. Brother said it was some of the best ice cream he's ever tried. We tried a few of both the normal and vegan flavors (lemon, earl grey, mint chip, orange creamsicle, matcha). All were terrific. Ingredient quality is awesome and everything tastes very handmade. The space itself is lovely - elegant and bright, and everyone who works there seems to really enjoy it. Decisions were made, and I stand by them, even though hours later I'm still stuffed. They had 8 vegan ice cream flavors on the day we went. EIGHT! Do you have any idea how hard it is to find ice cream or froyo places with more than one or two dairy-free options? This dumb dairy allergy I have makes finding desserts so difficult. So when my husband and I stopped in and saw they had 8 flavors I could enjoy, and a flight is 4 flavors, well, the math made sense at the time... two people, two flights, all eight vegan flavors. Ice cream for dinner while on vacation. What I didn't realize is that they are quite generous with their flights. Like, really heavy handed with the scooping. Which means my husband and I ended up with enough ice cream to feed at least 4 people, maybe 6. Thankfully, we're not ones to back down from a challenge. All 8 flavors were devoured and thoroughly enjoyed. Not a single flavor was deemed "bad", though we did have our own favorites. Hubby loved the Cold Brew, which was not too sweet and full of coffee flavor. I loved the Rocky Road best. Gimme a good chunky ice cream any day! Some vegan ice cream tends to be chalky, or go from solid as a rock to thin liquid with no creamy in-between stage. I am seriously impressed by how much their vegan ice cream felt and tasted like the real thing.
