I reeeeeally wanted to like this place and after many attempts to eat here (and finding them…read moreclosed), I FINALLY discovered them open during the Downtown Christmas Preview. I was beyond excited to try the spicy katsu chicken sando (I literally attempted eating here for 2 months but kept missing their open hours. They are VERY limited). The pricing I was charged was a bit more than what was on their menu, which I hadn't noticed until after the fact. :-/ When the sandwich arrived it was not at all what expected. I looked up the sandwich months ago and it appeared to be a juicy chicken breast between sliced cabbage on thick, fluffy bread. What I got was some beat up, flattened GREEEEEEASY gummy chicken that wasn't the least bit appetizing. It reminded me of frog legs and I was pretty much grossed out after the 2nd bite. The bread was exactly the same as Astesano Bakery Bread and didn't seem "home made" as their menu states. Maybe it is, maybe it isn't (home made) but it sure seemed like the same bread I buy at Safeway. Needless to say I was BEYOND bummed out. I guess that's partially my fault though, I mean... I saw a picture they used to have posted on their menu (it's no longer there) and had expectations that it was going to be exactly the same, which it most certainly was NOT. If I could sum it up in 2 words: Gummy & Greasy. Yuck. The best part was the cabbage so, that's what I ate and ditched the rest of the "sandwich" to the trash. So yeah, $13 + tip for some cabbage. Awesome. With that said, I don't recommend this place for the Sando's but! I may return for the egg rolls. They look good in the pictures however since I got 100% duped this time around, I think I'll ask if anybody I personally know has tried the egg rolls first before I spend any more money here. I do like their outdoor dining and if they could move the ginormous trash bins away from the outside dining tables it would be a great place to dine (who wants to eat next to trash cans??) I'll end on a positive note and say, I did like that they have an option of indoor or outdoor dining, if they move the trash cans, that would be my preferred place to eat.

Such a lovely and unique spot that adds to the fun of downtown Chico. Today I just tried the Hmong sausage and Thai tea. The lady working was sweet and let me sample the tea to test its sweetness. I think it's spot-on. The sausage is perfectly juicy, spicy and savory. It's rich, flavorful, and reminds me of the holidays.

They do such a great job here. I love that I can take my friends with the highest dietary needs…read morehere since they are completely peanut free, transparently disclose potential allergens in each ice cream, and offer plenty of both dairy and vegan ice creams (I believe half are dairy, half are vegan, and I want to say there are about 6-7 options of each). I also love that they are completely gluten-free even though I am able to eat gluten, again, because friends and family who cannot eat gluten can eat freely here. Even though I'm not really a cone person, the scent of the cones baking entices me to get them often. Their new location is much bigger and has a much better flow with a dedicated section for the line, and they have a nice outdoor space to enjoy the ice cream outdoors as well. I am always really excited to see their new monthly rotating flavors even though I most frequently get my usual, which is a mini scoop that is half caramel and half coffee, which I think is the perfect pairing. I think for what they offer, their prices are completely reasonable. Just the other day I got two mini scoops (personally I think that volume is plenty!) and a cone, and my total came to $9. Finally, they just do customer service right and have a lot of cute little touches: the little gold spoons for samples or their flight of four ice creams, allowing you to purchase said little gold spoons for $3 (I may or may not have purchased two for myself), the employees are super friendly and on it and maintain a good flow (the line moves fast, even though it's super long usually!), the list goes on! Now, if I were to be completely nitpicky about making it a *seamless* customer servive experience, I personally love when that awkward tip screen does *not* come up when I am getting counter service, but I also acknowledge that that may just be a hot take. Not that I don't think they deserve it because they absolutely do, but I just find obligatory tipping pretty dystopian and would rather have faith that everyone is getting a living wage without having to "perform," and the prices are the true prices making it possible to do so. But again, overall this is an amazing place and I am so happy this local business exists in Chico. A cute little sidenote: one day the spouse of the owner was kinda helping out in the front, and he was just gushing about how proud he was of his wife and the work they're doing, and it was such a sweet endearing moment.
