We hired this contractor to install a concrete patio to address a drainage issue near our foundation. Despite raising concerns throughout the project, the finished patio was graded toward our house and directed water directly at the foundation, the exact problem it was supposed to solve. I also had concerns about the workmanship, including stone being placed directly on grass and retaining wall rocks during site preparation. Additionally, the patio was tied into our block foundation with rebar. While we were aware this was being done, we later learned from independent contractors that this is not recommended in our climate due to freeze-thaw conditions. After years of hiring contractors for home improvement projects, this has been by far our worst experience. The patio had to be removed shortly after installation, resulting in significant additional expense and the need to hire a new contractor to redo the work correctly. I would encourage future customers to carefully document everything and independently verify grading, drainage, and construction methods before work begins.

The next day, when my sump pump failed, Todd returned and installed replacements. Todd listened to my concerns and repeatedly went out of his way to help me. He noticed things in the environment that needed a little fix here or there and he fixed them, not charging me extra. Todd took time to help me understand the issues in my basement so that I'm knowledgable about my home in the future. So, they surely have a hell of a salesmen as the end product was not at all what I expected nor was told. To preface, I bought a 175-year-old house with a stone foundation that was bowing. Larry told me I'd get two new foundation walls; it would take two weeks & I would get updates daily. I got one update from Mike 1.0, he seemed nice. Work stalled a lot in the beginning. Seems like they only worked every other day when I was told by the salesmen "once we start a job were there until it ends, we don't bounce guys around" whatever, things happen. Two weeks in when the job was supposed to be complete, I go to check on the progress, and my basement is completely flooded with 4-5 inches of standing water. Somebody had shut the sump drainage hose in the basement door pinching in likely while racing out on Friday. I text Mike 1.0 who informs me he hasn't even worked for the company in over a week. Lovely update! Mike 2.0 the new foremen was nice. Sucked he had to apologize profusely for the way the company's leadership is. I had requested several times for Todd to call me or meet with me to go over the issues. Still haven't heard from him. Four weeks later now the job is "done" & not at all what I was expecting. Poured walls halfway, House isn't even sitting on new "foundation" I was told I was getting. Was charged almost 2 grand for "basement clean out and debris removal" when the debris was tossed into my cistern and the basement is in the same state as it was before. Not sure what they cleaned out or removed (besides the already functional & existing sump pump and corresponding extension cords) Charged almost 5 grand for a sump pump that's duck taped together and leaking at the discharge directly back into the foundation. All in all, would not recommend. Office lady is kind whenever she answers. Company has a serious communication issue. Your foremen's need a raise for having to answer for the company's shortcomings, because the owner surely does not.

First, they sent the installers back to "buff out" the defect. That actually made it worse. Now, there is a whole area that is dull, as they buffed off the finish. They came back again to put a sealer on, but that didn't help at all. Angela came to take pictures of the countertop to send to the manufacturer. Apparently the manufacturer will not replace it as they feel the damage was made by the installers. I was told that Evolution All Phase would replace the countertop for me "when they contracted another job". In addition, the seam in my countertop is protruding! It's been 5 months since my install. I am really not pleased at all.

One thing our inspector called out was the quality of the roof. It was excellent. Not only that, but he commended the roofers on the quality of its construction. I tucked this memory away for about twelve years, until the day a tree fell on our house and tore a hole through our perfectly good roof. Thankfully, we were insured. In all the chaos of trying to repair the damage to the car, remove the tree, shore up the hole, and replace the garage door, there was on thing that I was sure about: We would hire Z. Ipek & Sons to replace the roof. After all, they were the contractors who wowed our inspector over a decade ago. When Omer came over to give me the estimate, he remembered putting the roof on our house. Except for the fallen tree, it was holding up very well. He was able to swing by before the insurance adjuster visited, which helped to provide me with some critical information for the adjuster. The only hard part was that we were in a race against time. Z. Ipek had a full work load, and Omer would soon be leaving for a long deserved vacation to attend a family wedding. And to make matters more complicated, our house was on the market at the time, plus we were actively in the process of moving out, with movers, a truck, and everything. Amazingly, Omer and his crew made it happen! I may have panicked a little bit when I saw the crew on the roof earlier than expected on moving day. But they had planned for the window when the moving truck needed to be in the driveway. I cannot say how Z. Ipek compares to other roofers on quality or cost. But the actual cost wasn't a penny higher than the original estimate. And they were able to execute all the work within the budget of the insurance claim. If that's not a five star roofer, I don't know what is.
