I had one company bring in 12 cubic yards but they were unable to dump it in my backyard due to a slope they did not feel their truck could negotiate, so I had to pay a second contractor to move the pile from the end of my driveway to the depression. Andrew surveyed my backyard and was confident his driver could deliver 2 loads, 6 cubic yards each, exactly where I needed it so I could finish the job. And he did just that on the day I needed it.

However when the job started I didn't realize Jeff wouldn't be involved much at all. Instead the Foreman running the job didn't share the same values as Jeff, He is actually a complete HACK and I would never let him in my home again. Jeff's price was by far not the cheapest but I thought it would be worth it for a job well done. Instead all the electrical, plumbing, and HVAC was done by the foreman who clearly has no business to be in that line of work. It was all done incorrectly, with many shortcuts taken. He also lied and cheated his way through every inspection process that clearly needed to be done. After many missed deadlines, a job that was estimated to take 8 weeks was stretched to over 20 weeks where I was finally forced to remove this company from the job and spend more time and money finishing with other contractors. After just a few short months I am already having issues with the work McDonald Construction performed.

It shouldn't have taken a "derogatory" (as the owner has described it) review for them to realize this, but some people learn quicker than others. I stand 100% behind my statements in the original review, and what the owner told me verbally when I brought up the difficulties of contacting them because I was given an outdated business card: "You're busting balls. Stop or I'll cancel your job". His exact words, followed by an abrasive, hostile excoriation. You simply don't want to do business with a company whose approach to customers resembles 60-grit sandpaper. I went with a different local company that did the work of repairing my fire-damaged Fortress Stabilization basement reinforcement straps with courtesy, respect, and integrity. That company, by the way, pointed out that the predecessor to The Concrete Team ("Upstate Concrete Raising") had not properly installed the original straps - failing to anchor the straps in the concrete floor. That's an operative reason for not hiring them, but the attitude that comes with the company is the icing on the cake.

They patched the holes and applied an epoxy coating over the whole patio with a natural sand texture. Its beautiful, its easy to clean. They had been recommended through our main contract with Kitchen and Bath (kiba) Studios of Clifton Park. I'm reviewing Dream Builders & Remodeling separately because of how pleased we are with the outstanding work they performed. Owner John and his assistant demonstrated exceptional skills whether working with tiling, plumbing, or woodworking. Because we needed extensive electrical work to be done John arranged for a subcontractor to do that work. John made some suggestions early on in our project that not only addressed the aesthetics of a room but also improved its functioning. He and his assistant always arrived to work at the scheduled time and put in a full day's work. They made every effort to protect the areas they needed to pass through by using floor and stair coverings. They were very pleasant and courteous individuals who respected our home and did not blast radios or swear while working. We were so pleased with the quality of their work that during a period of downtime while we waited for a cabinet to replace one that had arrived damaged, we entered a direct contract with John to upgrade the trim around the windows of three bedrooms and to paint the walls and ceilings of those bedrooms. There is no doubt that we will be contacting John at Dream Builders & Remodeling again when we identify another project to be undertaken.
