A 5* review for a home contractor? Surely not - a category of business infamous for aggravation and complaint. All the more reason to laud an exception. And each of our interactions with Bennett over maybe 3 weeks were exemplary. We had a few small exterior siding and repair jobs - nothing major, just at the point where it wasn't worth me buying a 20' ladder. Initial call: they noted that this was in their 'handyman' category, and it would be a couple of weeks before they had a slot. A rep called as promised, exceptionally courteous, and fixed an appointment time that met our schedule. Their repairman showed up promptly to the minute, cheerful and competent; made sure to get a list of each thing needed and went to work. When we walked through an hour later, every detail was perfect and some were well above the request - for instance a fascia piece between garage doors was not only back in place but silicone-caulked, looked better than new. Pricing was clear and upfront. Left us with a hugely positive impression - kudos, guys. They've been around for a long time, and I am astonished that I get to be their first review - if you have home repair/contracting jobs, give them a call. read more

Our job was to remove worn decking and replace with Trex, remove one set of steps and install two new sets, railings and lattice work. The work was done meticulously and with precision. Encountered a section of hidden water damage which was smoothly repaired and buttoned up. Daniele Barcaglia and Justin Burton worked daily in absolute miserable weather, snowy, raining and windy cold but continued to focus on our deck with unhurried care and conscientiousness, making sure that each cut and placement of materials was spot on. The final result was just superb and we could not be more pleased with the quality of work and with the friendly and hard-working gentleman on this job. We think highly of Bennett because of their exceptional work. read more

Bennett Contracting renovated our bathroom, and they did a phenomenal job. We can't say enough about the high caliber work of EJ, Erik, Gary, and Michael. They were professional, knowledgable, dependable, courteous, and had an excellent work ethic. We're very pleased with the final results and wouldn't hesitate to have them return for our future house projects! read more

They always say you get what you pay for. With Bennett Contracting LLC you pay more but the quality of the work is worth every penny. We had two windows replaced and wood rot removed. We also had a semi flat roof redone as well as siding replaced and flash sealed. Bennett has partnerships with other reputable companies and they work together to get everything done right. Star Roofing handled the roof while Bennet handled the windows, siding, and wood rot. We could not be happier with how everything turned out. My wife and I decided to hire Bennett for all future jobs regardless of the cost. You pay more now but end up saving in the long run. You can't put a price on your peace of mind knowing things will be done the way they are supposed to be. Friendly and considerate service is the icing on the cake. Great job Bennett and team. read more

Frank and Dustin did an incredible job! We had three windows and the front door replaced in our 125 year old house. They were very prompt and professional; very easy going and communicable, were great with our dog and showed concern for safety procedures while doing their work. They regularly asked us to inspect their work to insure we were satisfied and even able to accommodate our one year olds nap schedule. I would highly recommend Bennett for anyone in the Albany area looking to have work done on their house. read more

Bennett Contracting just added a bookshelf beneath my window seat. I showed them a photo of what I wanted. Their employee, John, did an outstanding job! He is a true craftsman and takes pride in his work. The bookcase looks exactly like the photo. This isn't the first time I have used this company. I will request them for future.projects. They are highly reliable and do excellent work. read more

At this time I would like to give a big shout out to Todd Schultz (crew) and Anthony Mulligan ( Project Manager). We had an addition put on off the back of our house 11 x 8. Can't wait to have Todd do more work for us next year. Joyce & Bob Vine read more

Bennett Contracting did a fantastic job with a total remodel to our primary bathroom. Working with Sarah on the design was delightful! I was nervous about having work done in our main bathroom, but it was so painless. The job site was clean each day and I could always text with any questions and was kept informed on progress. Bennett Contracting was a great choice for our home project. Tony came out to do an estimate on full wall built-in bookcases. He was thorough and informative and the cost of my project was very reasonable. Tony answered all my questions via email quickly and efficiently. Cody was the carpenter that completed the project and he was wonderful! His attention to detail was excellent. He checked in with me about all major design choices and made sure I was happy with the results. He showed up promptly each morning at the time agreed upon in advance, he was courteous and he worked through the day taking minimal breaks. He also made sure our home was clean and safe at the end of each day and was very respectful of our belongings and pets. No doubt I would choose to use this company again in the future. Highly recommend! read more

We recently had the pleasure of working with Tony, Adam Squires, and Cody on a much needed bathroom renovation. Tony came out to the house to look at the work to be done and talked with us about what we wanted to do. He was very helpful making suggestions and offering ideas. The work was done primarily by Adam. His attention to detail and craftmanship was exceptional. He made suggestions for minor changes in the details and always listened and responded to any questions or concerns we had. He took care of a few problems that were ancillary to the project but not directly a part of it. At the end of each workday he cleaned the work area. Always cordial, Adam is a true craftsman! Thank You, Adam, for our beautiful new bathroom! Well done! read more

Can't say enough good things about Bennett's work so far. Had them install slider, paint and put new flooring in my sunroom, and the place is transformed. Josh and Perry, who did the door were professional and quick. Jesus, who did the painting and installation of new luxury vinyl plank floor, is great. Showed up early, worked hard all day, was always ready and willing to answer questions or work with us on whatever we needed. Looking forward to him and the Bennett team replacing my wood deck with Trex this spring. Should also give huge shoutout to Steve Shanholtz, my project manager, who is great to deal with, responds quickly and has excellent recommendations. Highly recommend. read more

Highway robbery. Look elsewhere. We agreed to a flat rate of 95.00 an hour and ended up getting a bill for twice the amount. When questioned, I was told that it was per technician at the site! This was not disclosed at the time of hire. They also apparently charged extra for a propane tank they said they had to rent to warm up siding which wasn't disclosed either. Let me add, they wanted extra money for their gas! Do yourself a favor and find someone else. They may reply to this to defend their business but as a consumer, listen to us and not them. We are the ones looking for honesty. read more

Bennett did a great job with our new storm door.  It looks beautiful, it's strong and is good quality material.  The installation went smoothly and they even fixed an ugly spot on our door frame while they were at it.  We found they were very responsive compared to other contractors and we are very pleased with their work. read more

My 90's kitchen desperately needed some upgrading, so I called Bennett. Could not afford a total re-do, so I approached Bennett with a specific list of upgrades, sliding door, floor & countertop upgrade, overhead fan and oven installation, etc. Bennett's expertise was a wise choice. They worked around existing cabinetry and fixed many cob-jobs by the previous owner. The work was detailed and comprehensive from the new electrical circuit to the tile & painting. Efforts & scheduling were well thought out as I used to do planning for turnkey power plants. Cost wise, they are on the higher end, but to paraphrase an old saying, you get what you pay for, if you're lucky - money well spent! read more

Have been able to squeeze me in on two separate occasions. Siding both times. One was a piece missing and I happened to have a piece so they slapped it up for me. Couple hours labor and done. Second time same day came over and repinned a piece that recently had popped and was dangling. I was very thankful they can so soon so it didn't become a bigger job than it was at the time. Both times fairly and clearly quoted and invoiced. Was easy to pay with multiple options and a local office. Easy to work with and up front. read more

Got my windows done last December and couldn't be happier. Windows snugged the place up and they look great. I'm new to the area and did quite a bit of homework gathering estimates and recommendations before choosing Bennett. They came highly recommended from a few folks at work and on Nextdoor. The estimator laid out the range of window options and helped guide me to the best fit for my budget and goals (balance of nice clean look, comfort and price/value). Price and warranty were unmatched. Timelines were clearly communicated and executed. Our carpenters, Moose and Bobby, were excellent craftsman. I worked from home while they did the work and they were respectful of both our home and work situation. Thanks again! Happy to provide a reference for anyone that needs it. read more

We contracted with Bennett Contracting to enclose our screened-in porch. We are beyond happy with the results! What went from a 2-season porch, mostly used by our cats, is now a beautiful additional room to our home! We want to thank Anthony for his keen expertise and his construction team - Joe, Jon, Andrew and Chris - who worked their magic! The crew was attentive, answered all our questions during the renovating process, detail-oriented, always making sure WE, the customer, were happy with the results from start to finish. All we expected was a simple conversion. What we got was literally a transformation! read more

Superior workmanship in all the trades. We trust them 100%. We've employed them 3 times in the last two years and would not hesitate to bring them into our home again. It's rare to have a contractor work in your home and not feel stressed. We hardly know they are there. They are problem solvers too. Two of our jobs involved professional evaluation. In one instance we employed Bennett to solve our problem of freezing pipes in the winter, in our new construction home. The builder made several attempts to solve the problem to no avail. Bennett came in to physically evaluate the problem. Then they met with other Bennett team members and developed a well thought out 3 step solution. Bennett came highly recommended by a friend and also a neighbor. We are so pleased to have a contractor we can turn to when needed. read more

We had a horrible problem in the basement of our 110 year old home that required the entire basement to be gutted and rebuilt. I cannot say enough about the professionalism of the entire Bennett team...project manager, Steve, office manager, Josh and all the wonderful carpenters and other employees we dealt with. They were amazing. The basement is like a showcase basement now. They worked with us every step of the way from the mold and asbestos abatement to building room by room wonderful spaces where our family could work, relax, exercise. Can't say enough positive things about them all!!! read more

9/04/2021 2:15pm Lowe's in Glenmont. One of your drivers just tried to start a road rage incident with me as he went to pull out of a parking spot and I was pulling in. He would have hit me if I didn't beep my horn then he threw his hands up cursed and aggressively pulled forward then spun the tires as he backed out and peeled out of the parking lot. All because I didn't want my vehicle to be hit. Not smart to drive like that and treat the public like that with a company logo on the vehicle. Said F$&K YOU to my girlfriend and I for literally no reason! Anger issues much lol read more

Estimate was ten to twelve grand more then the three other contractors that gave me a price. Rip off

A few weeks ago I was looking for a contractor to install some windows i needed in my home. I found Bennett Contacting on Google and gave them a call for an estimate. Kevin Gutman came to my home and did a very thorough job explaining exactly what Bennett could do for me and gave me an estimate. It was the lowest estimate I got but their professionalism was so much better than the other contractors I got estimates from that I went with them. The amazing part was they finished on time, on budget and the work was great. I have a contractor now I can trust. Thank you Bennett Contracting!!! read more

They installed a Bilko door to an outside cellar entrance. The estimator had to find one that would work because the opening would not match a stock size door. The crew then had to build out the opening so the door would fit. Had to wait quite a while for all the parts and have a crew available, but it was completed before the real cold weather. Two guys removed the old wooden door and installed the new Bilko door in a day. They were efficient and did a good job. The price seemed fair. This company has a good reputation, but you might have to wait a long time for work because they are always very busy. read more

Bennett did a poor job repairing a porch. They started the job by driving a flatbed truck onto my lawn, leaving large ruts, when they could have simply parked 10 feet away on the sidewalk. My tenant reported that they ripped out a potion of the second floor facia, which was not included in the job nor discussed. They had completed a couple of days of work and I was concerned so had a contractor I knew check out the job and he pointed out several red flags, so I terminated the job. They had already collected $3k for less than 3 days of work (the first day they couldn't work due to an electrical problem, so went home) and now are attempting to collect for the full amount of the job left partially done, with damages to the house. I'm told they used to be an excellent company and that went south when the company was resold. read more

Bennett Contracting has put in windows for us and done several odd jobs. They are always professional, on time and helpful. We got estimates from several window companies and found Bennett to be one of the most reasonable. The handyman service department is more expensive, but you actually get the work done. I've tried repeatedly to contact local and cheaper handymen and they have not come through for me. read more

Great window replacement!! Today I had John and Brian from Bennett Contracting replace two very, old non working, attic windows with two beautiful windows. The new windows open outward, great to keep window open and rain out, and have dividers like the rest of the windows in our house (Great suggestion from Tony) Both John and Brian were very COVID respectful and did a great job. Thanks so much read more

So I posted this review on google, and they had the audacity to respond that the work was done! I spent over 20,000 for them to replace the rotten trim around the house. You DID NOT do the work for which you were hired. You replace a few boards, but painted over the rest of the rotten trim (and there is a lot, this is a big house). Don't you dare respond that you did the work! Painting over rotten trim was not what I paid you for. The paint was peeling within a year because rotten wood does not hold paint! read more

I signed a contract with Bennett Contracting to cover the soffits and facia with vinyl and paid the price for vinyl. Recently a piece of the material fell off the house and I discovered that they had not used vinyl, but aluminum. When I called to see if they could at least put the piece back up on the house, I was told they would do it "on a time and materials basis". And they also told me that there is no such thing as vinyl fascia and soffit coverings. Unfortunately for them, I have a written contract signed by them and me that states otherwise. Also, you would think that it would be good customer service to take the small bit of time required to tack that piece back up for me....but they wouldn't do it without charging me. "We can't guarantee that (it) will hold up under all conditions", is what I was told. Bad business...don't expect customer service...or even honesty here. Here is the wording from my contract: "Install new white vinyl ventilated panels to all overhangs. Soffit panels are specified as a triple 4" exposure per panel. Install new white vinyl fascia to all eaves and rake boards." Pretty clear, isn't it? I paid a good price to be cheated. Don't let it happen to you! read more

Bennett Contracting is the premier home contracting company in the Capital District. Providing top shelf customer service in every regard. We hired Bennett Contracting to replace our second story deck and we couldn't be happier with the finished product! When we watched them tear down our old deck we were shocked how poorly built it was. This was contrasted starkly by the way the crew from Bennett built. They cut no corners and built us a fortress of a deck! I didn't realize just how much was included in their estimate until I saw the quality of their work. Their price was a steal when you think of how much more work and materials went into our new deck compared to our old one! As a note for anyone currently shopping for a contractor, I hired Bennett just before the COVID lockdown and experienced some serious delays between social distancing orders and supply back orders. It's definitely tough right now to get a big project like ours done, but Bennett didn't forget about us and they ended up being worth the wait. So, I definitely suggest being patient and picking someone who will do the project right! read more

Great job! Working with Kevin, Bennett replaced all my windows, redid my bathroom, and did some other work. The people were knowledgable and professional, the work was completed timely and effectively...overall great experience. I will definitely use them again for my next remodeling project. read more

I got an estimate from them that was high but within range of the others. their estimator seemed to be put off by my questions and follow up attempts to get the most of my time limit and budget. I am not a professional and did not have alot of experience wtih the process. When I asked to have another associate sit in on what I thought would be our final meeting for a second opinion and alternate perspective they ignored my request and changed their start time by 2 weeks. I think this was just my estimator and not a issue with the entire company. the owner and estimator were clearly not hungry for work or my money. read more

I have used Bennett Contracting for three projects. Each of them was fairly priced and completed on time and on budget. Fully satisfied.

Terrific. From the sales portion where they didn't take up my time trying to sell me other stuff, to the installation of my windows - everything was great. It was sooo quick too! I would use them again in a heartbeat. read more
