The Computer Store went out of their way to assist me and I now have my PC back home with a brand new CPU and Mobo at a much cheaper cost than I expected. I just had an awesome experience. The Computer Store here at 21st and Gage saved me a bunch of money and time today!!! I have a touchscreen laptop that I've had for three years that I brought in to The Computer Store. A few days ago it made a crazy sound and yesterday it totally stopped turning on telling me that I had a "fan error." I figured since this thing is such a small machine I'll have to send it away to Lenovo to get it repaired and pay a pretty penny. I was at the store for 30 minutes tops. I walked in and waited on two clients that were ahead of me. One more actually walked in while I was being served, as well. So, they are definitely busy. Randy took my touchscreen laptop to the back room with the plan to look up the model number and part that might be necessary to order. He ended up opening it up by taking the screen off and noticing that the brass housing around the fan was bent down a little bit. It turns out that's where I actually pick up the computer and put pressure on the screen. What a mistake! He gently pried the brass housing up so that it wouldn't rub on the fan. HE FIXED IT!!!!!!!! And, HE DIDN'T EVEN CHARGE ME. The dude fixed my laptop and must've saved me at least $200 and a week's worth of time. Some other unscrupulous businesses may have told me there was a problem and taken money from me. I never would've been any the wiser. They could've held my computer for a few days and charge me $150. This was a very standup thing to do and I think they deserve to earn some more business for helping me. Please see what they can do for you. I have worked with technology for many years and I have never seen better customer service and technical skill. We had a mysterious short or fault in an all-in-one computer. Tony worked for several days without being able to resolve the fault. He replaced the motherboard, the power supply and more. The computer still wouldn't cooperate. This sort of fault or short might have needed a full wiring replacement and even that might not have solved the problem. We bought a new computer and the staff recreated the old hard drive and our computer was reborn. This was all done at a very reasonable cost. I called ahead to make sure they could replace the battery in my surface Pro 4. I supplied the battery and they told me this would take twenty minutes until I confronted him that it should take about three hours. I was charged $25 at time of drop off for diagnostics even though this did not require this asset. A week later I received a call that it was ready. When I went to pick it up the security was wacked and even with password the access was limited. After allowing it to be charged for a day the keyboard is inoperative and my own IT guy has not seen this yet. My confidence level based on my experience with this company is pretty low. read more

Do not believe their television advertising. They say if you buy a new laptop from them they will transfer your data and give you anti-virus software for free. NO. Got the data transfer but had to pay $69 for the anti-virus software. They also lost my password after writing it down for them when I took my laptop in for repair. Not a very professional business. I would steer clear of this business. read more

I was having trouble with my gaming computer, it would no longer boot up. I took it to a well known big chain store, where the technician looked at it and reported to me it probably needed a new mother board, and they would need to ship it off. They said it would take at least six weeks. NOT wanting to ship my computer off anywhere, I took it over to The Computer Store. After an initial diagnostic fee, which was very reasonable, and about 24 hours, I was told the computer needed a simple fix involving the power supply. I asked about buying a new power supply component, and was told that was not needed! They were able to reconnect some things so the computer works fine, and they did not try to "upsell" me on anything at all. I can't tell you how glad I am to support a local merchant in Topeka, and I recommend them for they were competent and HONEST in their dealings with me. How refreshing! read more

My first contact with The Computer Store was when my eight year old Dell computer crashed. I took it to another place and was told it was just dead and they tried to sell me a new computer. A friend suggested The Computer Store. I took my computer there and they quickly diagnosed hard drive failure. They were able to download everything from my old one and install the new one at a very reasonable price. Skip forward a couple of years and it failed again. This time it was beyond redemption. The operating system was just too old plus a couple of hardware problems. I purchased my new computer from them, they transferred my hard drive info and I've been using their virus scan service since then. I have had NO problems at all, even though I am still running on Windows 7. Yes, my new computer is now old and it still runs fine. I know I'll need to replace it soon. For that I will likely go back to The Computer Store. Over the years when I've heard someone had a dead computer, I have recommended The Computer Store. In each case they had been told they needed to buy a new computer. In each case, The Computer Store fixed the problem. My experience over these many years is that they are honest and not in the business of trying to sell clients something they don't need. Highly recommend. read more
