I have had excellent service from UNI Computers. I'm not very experienced with computers, since I never had to use one for my career, but I've learned to use one as an information source. Amin has been very helpful when I've had minor laptop issues, and he recently helped me ease into the Windows 11 world by putting together a new laptop for me, and upgrading another laptop to Windows 11. He is always so pleasant and friendly when I visit the shop. read more

I don't recommend anyone who uses their computer for business or school have it worked on at Uni Computers. They did GREAT work for me a year or so ago, but this time, they completely failed to do what they had agreed to, and left me without a working laptop computer when I very much needed it for my job. After agreeing to make a simple but profitable repair on my laptop for $129 on the Friday before a three-day weekend, Amin (the manager) called me on Tuesday of the next week to say they had not done the work because they found an almost invisible crack in the bottom cover of the laptop. He said they would not do the work unless they were allowed to replace the bottom cover. He said he had tried to call me on Friday, but my phone logs showed no call from Uni. I use this computer for my job. As per our agreement, I had bought the replacement parts and taken Friday off so they could do this work, and had pressing work to do the next week, so their failure to do as they had promised and their after-the-fact notification that they had not done it was a huge problem for me. The work in question required zero technical skills - replacing a keyboard with a broken spacebar, and a damaged but working power port - so I watched a Youtube video of the job, bought compressed air and heat sink compound at Radio Shack, and did it myself. The crack in the bottom cover was not a problem, and the computer works perfectly - I am writing this review using it. I knew Uni would make a good profit off this job - it would have taken a half hour for someone who knew what they were doing- but I figured taking it to them would save me time. Probably capable, but General Manager EXTREMELY arrogant. After speaking with the GM, I will be going to Daves Computers in Tecumseh; 'would rather walk that speak again with someone so condescending. Stay away. A few weeks ago I spent close to $300 to fix a laptop I bought 18 months ago. I was convinced to buy a $90 annual service plan. When the computer wouldn't operate again last week I took it back to Uni where I found out about the "fine print" on the service plan didn't apply. I was told it would cost $800 or more to fix it and I should buy a new machine from them for $1,599. My $90 "service plan" was worthless. I took the machine elsewhere and got a new battery installed, including labor for $200.38. read more

I took these people a Dell laptop that was throwing a fatal blue screen "executive worker thread is being terminated" error. I had researched this a little before taking the machine in and was expecting to find that there were driver problems, which they should have been able to fux relaticvely inexpensively, but when the tech called, he said the hard drive was going bad. I was not inclined to replace the hard drive at that time, so I picked up the computer, having paid for just the diagnostic. I took it home and ran a restore on the machine to restore it to its initial configuration from when I purchased. Then I loaded 3 years worth of Microsoft Windows updates and several pieces of software. At no time did I have a hard disc problem, so now I have the computer back in working order without paying UNI 150 dollars to replace a hard drive that appafrently didn't need replacing. I am, however, still out the 45 dollars they charged for this bogus diagnosis. read more

I had a problem with my desktop which I didn't know if it was the CPU or the monitor. They had an offer today for a free 20 minutes consultation and they discovered it was the monitor. They had rebuilt monitors for a good price with a good warranty. The service was great. I got what I needed and within about an hour which included me going home to get the CPU I had everything I needed for my husband to hook my desktop back up and being able to use my own computer instead of his laptop.They were friendly and knowledgeable. BEWARE of UNI Computers and be 100% certain they do everything you asked them to do in repairing your computer. The owner is NOT a very nice person to deal with if you are not satisfied with their work. I will NEVER go there again. They lied to me and they ruined my grandson's Laptop and will not own up to it. $140 wasted. I would give them zero star but that is not an option. read more
