Apparently scrambled eggs means something different nowadays. That's what the waitress said when we complained - that's how they're made everywhere now. There are supposed to be big globs of egg white streaking through the yellow. I guess you don't beat the eggs before they're scrambled and cooked now. And instead of being delivered in scrambled chunks, scrambled eggs are now delivered in a one-piece foldover fashion, much like an omelet. At this place, the customer is always wrong. Hard to tell who the customer and the employee is when the cook sits down with his phone at a table between every turn of the spatula. So much for clean hands. Also, be prepared to drink battery acid if you get the decaf. That coffee has been in scalded in that pot since the store opened 100 years ago. The waitress was such a rude person, i order what i thought was a steak sandwich(philly hoagie) i received a chopped steak burger .. everything on there meal says chopped sirlon burgers with different names. so when i was given my food, and said something she became rude. She never came back to check on us ( a party of 5) brought the bill out and wanted to argue with me regarding the confused. She actually said i should've asked more questions and that's what i order so she wouldn't take it off my bill, then says i can either pay or leave. SHe didn't even try to rectify the situation. She basically said she didn't care if that was my first time there she wasn't going to take it off and to just leave. read more

Our waitress was wonderfu! The food is subpar. I asked to have my sandwich removed from the bill because after efforts to make it tasty.. it still wasn't good. For the sake of good customer service I would have imagined it would have been removed with no issues... The customer is NOT right at this establishment. Sit at the bar and chat with owners Ken & Menda as they make your food. Parking is tougher at lunch, but most of the day the blocks right out front have enough room. cute little diner with butterfly decor. it's just a simply, unassuming diner, nothing to write home about, unless you want a country fried steak that's fork tender... yes, seriously, i was able to cut it with my fork alone. the coffee isn't as strong as i usually like it, but it's brewed very well and just simple and delicious. which is definitely the theme here, simple delicious diner! everything was cooked perfectly and simply, just as i want when i go for the biweekly brunch somewhere different with the kids! home fries were cooked perfectly though, picked eggs were AMAZING, and i just cannot say enough about the handling of the meat! we will most certainly be back! wait time wasn't too bad, the waitress jumps out to let us know that there aren't any tables available, but it's a quick wait, the group walks out and they instantly let us know they have a table ready as they are prepping it and cleaning it off, had the drink order the moment we sit down. we are not quite last but close to it in a little saturday morning rush and still wait time for anything wasn't bad at all! yes, we will be back! the only negative i can even remotely think of? street parking right there, but even that isn't too bad, i can walk a couple hundred feet from my car to the door lol... i'd you want simple old-school, well cooked diner food, this is a spot to try out and let me know how it goes!!! read more

We have always wanted to try this place out, but it was always closed when we were over by the Y in the evenings. We made a special trip just to try it out today, and we weren't disappointed. The staff was very accommodating with substitutions, and the food and coffee were great. After we finished eating, we went a block over and walked around the small lake. The coffee pot is a longtime favorite of mine. Upon entering it's very small but there is a backroom with more seating. They serve up good ole comfort food. I haven't had anything I don't like. While I'm giving four stars due to the size of the location and cash only payment rule, don't let that deter you. The staff is super friendly and make you feel right at home from the time you enter.
