This is my go to coffee place. I probably spend too much on coffee, but everyone has an addiction I guess and mines coffee lol! I'm here usually at least 2 times a week. Their coffee is amazing, one of the best cups of coffee I've had and definitely the best in town. I always get an iced coffee with caramel since that's my go to, but their lattes and regular hot coffee are also great. You can see they roast their beans fresh. This is my new favorite coffee shop ever. The coffee is roasted fresh on the premises and tastes like a little cup of heaven. I'm a fairly avid coffee drinker and I don't think I've ever had coffee this superb. I've tried the dark roast and the medium roast, both of which are smooth and flavorful. I prefer the dark roast, which is luxuriously bold but not overbearing like some. But the medium roast is exquisite as well. They also have something called a pour over that sounds really good too though I haven't tried it just yet. Aside from the actual coffee, the shop is in a great location in downtown Millburn and has a distinct and pleasant decor. The owner is very friendly and, more importantly, is extremely passionate and knowledgeable about all things coffee. They also serve a variety of pastries including some great allergy-friendly biscotti from Bella's Bakery (a completely nut-free bakery in Millburn). I'm a coffee lover and this place takes coffee seriously! They roast their beans daily and have a new roast every day. Their ice coffee is sublime and they get their pastries from Balthazar Bakery, which is top notch! The owner is friendly and I enjoy coming into this place over the Starbucks only a few doors down, which is crazy, cause that's my default. There's some outside seating in the back and this place accepts credit/debit cards. Also, this place has wi-fi but it's locked. I've yet to ask the owner for permission to get on the network. A petite shop with quality brew. The Coffee Mill has won my heart for a sit down experience or a grab and go cup. The shop is small but offers a few seats for those who wish to enjoy the snacks and beverages offered. I had a plain ole drip coffee, but be sure the chalkboard menu includes other favorites like cafe au lait, cappuccino, iced beverages, a long list of sweeter flavored roasts, and hot chocolates. Baked goods all looked fabulous, though for once I exercised restraint and didn't try any. Fluffy croissants, and jumbo traditional and chocolate biscotti all caught my eye. Next time my cookie-luscious friends! The coffee was strong (but not burnt tasting) and you have a choice of a mild or strong brew. Service was friendly and prompt. A small hipster coffee shop in town with a great variety of coffee drink options. They also sell a few fresh pastries to accompany your Java. If you are a fan of cold brew coffee, buy the growler! Stores up to 14 days in the refrigerator and makes about 4 drinks. The cold brew has a full flavor and is stronger than regular iced coffee. Refills for the growler are about 8 or 9 bucks. Stopped in here before work last week to get a cup of coffee, a croissant and some whole bean coffee. Croissant was outstanding, the coffee was just ok--a touch on the stale side in my opinion. The Ethiopian coffee i was sold was stale and was not even packaged in an air-tight, vented bag. That explains the staleness--steer clear of their bagged coffee. Great little shop located in the heart of Millburn, holding its own nicely despite the Starbucks only two doors down. If you're near Millburn, this is the place to stop for coffee. There's no street parking out front...you'll need to head around the back to the little parking nook. It's a little tricky during commuting hours, but there are usually spots on the cross street. They roast their beans every morning on the premises, and you can taste (and smell) the difference. Very distinctive flavors. It's a cozy place with about a dozen seats inside and two small tables out front. On nice days they'll open up the big front windows. read more

The Coffee Mill is one of the better coffee spots I've been to. Located in downtown Millburn, it's got a different vibe. Raised-up bar stools and a nice environment add to the already solid cup of coffee. They have some original offerings, which sounded great ("The English Toffee Latte" and the "Snickerdoodle Latte" were two that I can remember). I got the cappuccino while my wife got the Iced Hazlenut Latte. Both were done very well, and made pretty quickly. It costed about $8.00 for those two - so a bit pricier than I'd expect from a solo dolo independant shop, but regardless, the drinks were done well. 3/5 only because it didn't do anything to jump out -- maybe if you get one of their special drinks it'll rock that up to a 4/5, but for a cappuccino, it wasn't anything different than what I've had! read more

I believe it was a Brazillian roast they were offering. WOW, I immediately felt the bite and slight sting of the FRESH REAL coffee. I could feel the strong caffeine from the fresh brew. This establishment really does coffee great! I honestly feel Starbucks (which is just a name, and no special coffee available) can't compare to the strength of the beans here. The proprietor, who helped me decide which brew was best for me, polite and helpful. My only suggestion is perhaps to place a table in front of the store for customers to relax. read more

The smell of coffee is strong the second you walk in! There are roasting machines that you see when you are inside and they are roasting beans fresh right there. I got a cold brew and it is great. I was pretty excited to find out that Millburn has a coffee roaster now! i got a bag of freshly roasted beans from costa rica. The staff told me that it was roasted in the morning so I was pretty excited to take the bean home and wait until the next day to make myself a nice cup of latte. the bean was dark roast so perfect for espresso. i could tell how fresh and good the beans were when i made my espresso by the nice and thick crema i got. with some foamed milk, the latte was amazing! i definitely will go back and get some more beans!!! The only complain i have is this place only sell the beans by the bag so 13 ozs. that's a lot beans. coffee beans are the best when they are 3 days old. I refer making coffe and espresso with fresh beans so I definitely would like to buy the beans in small amounts and come back more frequently. read more

The coffee is good here. I like the atmosphere too. There isn't a lot of seating, a small high top and a counter by the window for people watching. So be prepared to take it to go or in the nice weather sit outside. My only gripe is the counter staff. Whenever you ask them about by the beans or the roast, etc they look at you funny and mumble an answer. I give them kudos for opening next to a gross coffee chain and holding their own. I would love to see the staff be passionate about coffee the way people working g at a roaster usually are. read more

The coffee was very very good but I would have liked a bit more complexity. But that might be because in my opinion the pourover makes the coffee a little sterile. The person I spoke with about the roasting process and their coffees in general was very knowledgeable. Which I really liked. I've been coming here every morning to get my coffee. As an avid coffee drinker, I've gone to the bigger coffee chains. (Starbucks, Dunkin donuts etc.) and I have to say, this is exponentially better than the caffeinated sewer juice they pass for coffee at any other of the bigger coffee chains. I'm very specific with my coffee and this place gets it right consistently. It's not only coffee that they serve here. They have incredible handmade, fresh pastries EVERYDAY. I recommend any of the pastries. It's rare to have a coffee shop where the pastries almost outshine the coffee. As an avid coffee drinker, and now lover of pastries, I can say with full confidence that The Coffee Mill Roasters holds their product to a higher standard. Now here's a question, would you rather your money go to a CEO who could care less about who you are, or a small business owner who cares about the product he's selling, who asks how you're day is going because he genuinely cares about his customers. If you ask me, I'm gonna pick this place every time. If you're in Millburn, don't leave without getting a piping hot cup of coffee from this place. My husband and I absolutely love this place. It has become our new go-to after church on Sundays. The owner is super nice and always friendly with us!! The coffee flavors are delicious and I love how they are very accommodating with turning anything into decaf and almond milk which is great for those of us who are lactose intolerant and caffeine intolerant but still love a good coffee!
