I can't believe I've had coffee from The Coffee Cubby before but never actually stopped in until this month's RI Food Fights Best Iced Coffee Challenge. Wow - this may have just become my favorite coffee! I ordered the Beach Bum - a summer seasonal latte with coconut, hazelnut and vanilla as an iced coffee and it was absolutely delicious. It earned a permanent spot in my cup holder for the drive home and I was already thinking about my next visit before I got there. The shop itself is cute and welcoming. I even had the chance to watch Scott Groome painting a new mural outside and it's going to look fantastic. The staff were friendly, patient and happy to answer my questions, which made the visit even better. My only complaint is that the menu changes a little too quickly. There were drinks I wanted to come back and try that were already gone! That's probably just another reason I'll have to keep stopping by. I'll definitely be back soon to finally get my own latte bucket! read more

I've been coming here many, many times over the past few years and unfortunately recently it has really gone downhill. The newer staff has been disappointing. Some are extremely rude some don't seem to know what they're doing, and others just stare at you like you have 10 heads. I also seem to pay a different price every time I come in, which is a little alarming considering my order is pretty basic. The blonde woman who seems to be some sort of team lead is especially less than interested in being there. She's often on her phone, has a major RBF, avoids customers, or walks away when people need help. They're also constantly out of things I want to try. A few weeks ago, they were out of basically every cup size or lid -- how do you run out of CUPS?! Today I was offered a bucket because they didn't have any large lids. Like... how?! I don't want a bucket when it doesn't even fit in a cup holder. I really wish it was back to the way it was when I first started coming. It used to be one of my favorite places to go. I stopped by the Coffee Cubby today and was overall very happy with the experience. Parking was a little tight, someone did almost hit me. But, that's not Coffee Cubby's fault. The restaurant itself is cute! There some outdoor(ish) seating and a beautiful mural. Where you order is a spacious room with benches for waiting. They have menus on a counter if you're like me and can't see very well without glasses. The girls who served me were very kind and attentive. I ordered the frozen lemonade and the lion bagel sandwich. The lemonade was good- tasted like a powdered mix but wasn't unpleasant. The sandwich I thought was a little messy with the avocado and chipotle. A little on the gooey side. But I did love the crispy bacon and well cooked egg. The bagel was denser than I would have liked but did work well with the other ingredients. I'd definitely stop by the Coffee Cubby again in the future. Was a long time customer. Went there on Saturday Aug 15. Super busy, but that's fine. It happens. No napkins given out when we received our food order and the self serve napkin dispenser was empty. So I asked one of the girls behind the counter for some napkins. She begrudgingly gave me like one or two. Our table was dirty so I asked if I could have a few more napkins to clean the table. And the same extremely rude girl who begrudgingly gave me the first napkins then grabbed a few more in disgust and very rudely SLAPPED them into my hand. I wanted to slap HER right across the face. She deserved it. Oh...I'm sorry....not only were there 5 of you running around aimlessly trying to figure out who's doing what, while people waited way too long for their mediocre coffee and food, you also felt the need to let me know that I was "bothering" you to do your job? Get a grip and learn what customer service is, and what it is NOT. I wasn't rude or arrogant to you in any way whatsoever. In fact I was pleasant. Absolutely abhorrent behavior on your part. They take WAY too long to get the orders out in the first place. You all seem to have a dumb look on your faces like you don't know who's doing what. And then you're disgustingly rude to your customers top of that? No wonder why the employee turn around there is so high nowadays. Do better. This place sucks. Used to be good. Not any more. I won't be back unless I am desperate. Under The Willow up on Mendon Road has WAY better coffee and I and pastries. And GF / vegan options which you do not. They have really good coffee! Is it worth the hour wait for 2 drinks and 2 food items? Not really. Got my latte 10 minutes after ordering and then 20 more minutes for the smoothie and another 15 for food items... They have long lines and long wait times and my goddddd are the baristas SLOW. I would look up a few times during my wait and see 3 girls just staring at one order ticket or just standing there. Lookin' like sims characters waiting for the next command lol. Don't get me wrong, all are probably in high school and are kind. This is definitely a first job or something for most because they do not have any kind of urgency given the social media exposure. Cute coffee shop!! I feel like they have really had a lot of social media attention lately and it shows. The employees were not very friendly and you kind of felt like you were bothering them by ordering. The line in the AM was super long and the wait for drinks/food was very long as well. I tried out the fluffernutter drink and they literally just do a big blob of peanut butter in the latte. It wasn't mixed or anything so my straw literally kept getting clogged if I got any peanut butter at all. The breakfast burrito had potential but was doused in so much hot sauce it was impossible to eat. Maybe everyone was just overwhelmed? I did like their little outdoor patio and it was nice to drink my coffee out there and work for a bit. I would certainly come back, just know there will be a wait and order accordingly. read more

Came here after seeing they have iced coffee buckets. Never had one and knew I had to get it. Ordered the Milky Way (caramel and mocha) ice coffee bucket and it was great. Only problem was I had to hold it in my car while driving but no biggie. Was able to try the Nutella iced coffee which I think was even better than the one I ordered. The bean roast is strong and blended perfect with the other flavors. The buckets are $10 but are fair considering the amount of coffee provided. The line was out of the door on a rainy day. That's how you know they're a good place. The sitting area is very tiny. Looking forward to trying something new! read more

I haven't been to The Cubby in a few years, but boy oh boy, their update is . I had a viral banana bread latte in their amazing coffee buckets and their Mountie sandwich. Both were delicious! The bucket iced latte was the coolest thing! Tons of people were coming in for it! The sandwich was one of the best breakfast sandwiches I've ever had---and I've had a lot because breakfast is my fave meal of the day. Maggie helped me with my order, but all the girls were awesome! I had a real great experience thanks to the amazing staff. The cafe has been updated and the new ambiance is next level. I really love what the new owner has done! Went in on a holiday Monday around 1130am and was busy but not slammed. There was a consistent line but they are quick with service so people were moving through quickly. Was able to snag one of the small tables to sit and eat our sandwiches. The clipper was a satisfying bagel sandwich, exactly what I was craving. Next time I maybe would try one of the wraps. I got the nutcracker speciality latte and it was very good, it was sweet so for me it's not something I would get often but as a treat it hit the spot. I went at almost 6 so kitchen was closed. I didn't try the bucket ( what I went for ) will be back another day earlier. The 2 coffees and the refresher I did get were amazing. And the prices were not to shabby. They also had alternatives to milk which is a plus for a lactose intolerant girly. The place was cute warm and inviting. Coffee was delicious, it did taste a bit watery. The time I went there wasn't a lot of pastry options open. I heard many good reviews from other coffee lovers. I usually love this place. Lattes and food are great. Issue is that the past two times that I have been the food has taken and extremely long time. It used to be pretty quick, maybe about 5-10 minutes. These two trips it has been nearly 30+ minutes. Also someone in my family ordered a cheddar cheese and egg on a bagel with hot sauce and got served an American cheese (doesn't like American cheese) and egg on a bagel with no hot sauce. I just don't see how it can take that long and they still get it wrong. Very annoying and I likely will not be back for a while. read more

Stopped into The Cubby Coffee & Cafe after hearing good things and made the 40 minute drive to check it out. I got the bucket of coffee that was Reese's flavored. It was delicious, but they filled it all the way to the top with ice, so I had maybe 10 sips before hitting the bottom. For the price, I expected a lot more actual coffee. My sister's and my husband's drinks were fine, so maybe it was just mine, but still a bummer. The place itself is cute inside, definitely has a nice aesthetic, but the crowd flow was a little chaotic, with little to no actual "flow". I would have gone back up to ask about my drink, but it was so busy I just let it go. Coffee flavor was a Solid 7/10. Overall though, the value and hectic vibe doesn't make me want to return immediately. read more

Although this place almost always has a line out the door (it just shows how good they are) the service is always impeccable and they get you out pretty fast. I enjoy sitting outdoors in the summer. It can get a bit cold in the winter with the door continuously opening due to the line so it's best to take your stuff to go. They have a huge variety of food options too. Ok I'll be real with you, you probably saw their fluff drink or the bucket on social media and that's why you're going. If that's why you're going than that's fine, just be prepared to wait 30 mins outside for that picture perfect drink. If you just want a coffee, maybe check out another local place. I went because of the bucket, I love coffee so I want to hold more coffee than I should drink at one time in my hand. Parking is tough, literally had to do a 97 point turn to get out, people parking all over. You are waiting, no matter the time of day. This was unexpected for us since we purposely went a Tuesday at 1030 am thinking it would be empty. Well it wasn't, so you're not sitting inside because you'll be crammed it's constantly full because it's a literally cubby. Because it's so small there's only 3 girls working and they can only go so fast. The coffee was ok, I did the fluff. It taste like PB and you get clumps of marshmallow. Really sweet, not what I would normally drink but fun to try. I prefer more coffee flavor. The food was ok. The outside patio would have been cuter to sit at had there not been a constant line and also someone had smoked and dropped a pack of cigs butt on the ground earlier. Overall if you're going for the pic of your drink, fine. But the girls working were miserable, I was miserable smooshed inside, and the coffee was meh. I wouldn't go again unless the online hype dies down because it's crazy to have a constant line like this and people even saying in their reviews they drove 40 mins. That's wild. read more

They used to have a problem where they would stop to make your coffee/latte before placing your food order, they stopped doing that and became super efficient and great. But now it's bad again :( Mid food takes over 20 minutes to come out even if there's no one in line. In what world does an egg and cheese on a bagel take over 20 minutes!! I used to love this place but it's going downhill in terms of quality. I ordered an egg and cheddar cheese with hot sauce, received an egg and American cheese with no hot sauce. I am OBSESSED with this place and their variety of beverages; from coffee, to lattes, to refreshers - this place has it all. While their menu can seem overwhelming and somewhat confusing, you can mix and match options to create the EXACT beverage you are looking for. We've been here 3 times this past week trying out their menu and we have not been disappointed. The new owners don't have the password for the business listing on google, so that platform hasn't been updated with their new hours or menus. It's probably best to follow them on instagram for updates. As others have mentioned, we were not expecting there to be a line that ran from the sidewalk to the front door, but there was this past weekend when we visited (Saturday morning and Sunday afternoon) This just gave us time to 'ohh and ahh' at all of the iced coffee buckets that were leaving the building and helped us decide what to order when it was our time at the counter. If you are in a rush to get coffee, this may not be the place for you. The line was out the door when we got there. We waited about 15-20 minutes in line, which on a work day wouldn't be possible for most. They had a lot of different coffee options. I got a Reese's latte. It was good but there was a lot of ice in the cup. There wasn't as much ice in mine and my brother-in-laws as there was in my sister's coffee. Hers was filled from top to bottom with ice leaving very little coffee for her to drink. Unfortunately because of the line she didn't get a chance to see if they could fix it. I was a little surprised about the lack of handicapped parking. I didn't see any marked spots and it could be an oversight on my part because the parking lot was packed with some cars parking where they probably shouldn't have. So if there were spots I apologize, I did not see them. It is something I do look for out of habit because I work in the healthcare field. All in all the coffee was good, but use less ice and try to be consistent customer to customer. If I was in the area I'd definitely give them another try because the coffee did taste good. read more

Ah yes, The Coffee Cubby--apparently the hottest spot in town if you enjoy standing in line long enough to question your life choices. I waited a solid thirty minutes just to get inside, because nothing says "specialty coffee" like feeling trapped in an amusement park ride queue. Then, for the encore, I was treated to another half hour wait for my order, only to watch people who ordered after me be served first. When I politely asked about it, I was rewarded with a barista's explanation so snotty and rude. Now, about the actual coffee. After all that buildup, I was expecting fireworks--maybe even enlightenment. Instead, I got a cup of liquid mediocrity that could have come from any gas station. The food? Let's just say their "breakfast sandwich" is less artisanal café and more "microwave, ding, here you go." The bagel was fine, which I suppose makes it the shining star of an otherwise disappointing experience. If your idea of fun is waiting in endless lines for subpar coffee, condescending service, and a microwaved breakfast, then by all means, this place is for you. First time there, it was a Saturday morning around 10AM left around 1130. Yes I've seen the reviews that the line is long and it's a wait usually so I expected it but what I didn't expect was that everyone after me AT LEAST 6 people got their orders before I did and mind you all I ordered was a Nutella latte + fluff added, no food. I waited in line for maybe 20 minutes but it was the wait for the coffee that had me feeling funny. The girls behind me ordered lattes as well, they got theirs, the ones after that lattes and lemonades and food for both got their elaborate orders before mine. I asked twice if I had missed my name and both times they said they did not call my name. I could tell they forgot my one drink order lol I get they're busy but that shouldn't leave me with a bad experience while everyone else has a coffee within a reasonable time. On top of it all the coffee was mid which really sucked lol I was hoping it'd be worth it. Don't recommend really, seems like only the local Manville area people like it because it's close - that assumption was made because I had conversations with people while I waited. Adorable, tiny coffee shop with a quaint woodsy ambiance and ample coffee flavor selection. I was in dire need of a caffeine fix on a telework day and found that Coffee Cubby was not too far. The theme is woodsy / bears (very cute!) with lots of rustic charm. They have a spacious patio for outdoor seating as well. Their flavor list for coffees is massive and takes up nearly a full wall, so no matter what you're craving, you will likely find it. My order was a butterscotch iced coffee with an egg & cheese on an English muffin. All delicious. The prices at Coffee Cubby were notably reasonable for an independent coffee spot; I paid about as much for the combo as I would at a much lower-quality fast breakfast joint like Dunkin's. The butterscotch coffee was tasty! They brew Mills Coffee, and the flavor appears to be in the beans not an added syrup so the taste was not overwhelmingly sugary at all. The egg & cheese was delicious; crispy muffin, fluffy egg, melty cheese. Service was quick and the baristas / cashiers were all super friendly. Looks like this might be an establishment in Lincoln / Smithfield, the line was nearly out the door. If the line is that long, you know it's going to be good. Would definitely go back. Unfortunately didn't have the best time. I will give them the benefit of the doubt and say they were very busy and they only have a small space to meet the needs of all of their customers. That being said, the inside of the cafe was messy, the coffee I was given tasted burnt and watered down, and when I didn't understand a question the cashier was asking me about my order and asked her to clarify, she looked at me like I was stupid and just repeated the question again. Coffee is good here, I order a small iced pistachio coffee with almond milk. It's tasty. Today was weird to me because when the person behind the counter asked how I was I said "good, and you" to which I received an eye roll. Uh okay.. Then she kept asking what I ordered, which I clearly stated a small iced coffee with pistachio and almond milk. She asked "a latte?". I'm not sure where the confusion comes from since the last time I ordered they understood right away. There was a dollar up charge on this order that there previously wasn't, and with inconsistent prices I feel like I was ripped off this time. I asked for a receipt which took a few minutes for them to print, and the receipt doesn't reflect how much I payed for my coffee.
