I happened to be in the right place at the right time one day and walked into this bakery. It is clean and pleasant. The owner is on site and willing to discuss the offerings in their case of goodies. The woman who helped me the first time really knew the business and was able to answer questions I had about ingredients, etc. I appreciate that they have vegan and gluten free pastries. Their cookies are certainly a handful and quite yummy. I've been back there again and have been pleased with what I chose. If you like big soft ginger cookies, you will find them here. This place has real good coffee and their cookies are great too. I love that they have some GF options as well. The shop is small, bright and clean. There is no indoor seating, but there is plenty outside. On a nice sunny day, that's nice. I would be a little bummed on a cold or rainy day though. The girl that helped me was very friendly and helpful. I was in and out without any problem. I highly suggest their oatmeal white chocolate craisin cookie. It's delicious! read more

Under the Willow Bakery is truly a hidden gem. Blink and you may miss it, but if you get to go inside, you will be greeted with the smells of freshly made baked goods and coffee. The staff is also so friendly and you can tell they work hard because they hear the door open and come over to the register from the back of the house. You can see through a little glass partition and see the industrial baking equipment. So far, my favorite items there are the Hostess cupcake, the ham and Swiss croissant, and the strawberry lemonade. If I am lucky, I can sneak out of work on lunch break and snag a strawberry lemonade to get me through the rest of the day. The brownies are also delish! The bakery is small, but mighty. I really hope they have the opportunity to expand in the future (if they want it) and have more offerings. read more

We have been to Under the Willow three or four times now, their pastries are fresh, get there early if you actually want your choice of scone or muffin I don't think we've been there one time where I actually got what I wanted because bye nine 10 o'clock they always seem to be sold out of what I want! A fantastic bakery in Cumberland, Under the Willow will satisfy any cravings you have for baked foods! They serve both sweet and savory selections alongside some hot coffee. This is such a cute little hole in the wall bakery! No inside dining, just pick up and go.. They have coffee, a variety of pastries including vegan AND gluten free products, fresh made spinach pies & ham and cheese croissant pies, and some other breakfast items that I did not have the pleasure of experiencing today. When I tell you that Under The Willow has the best chocolate chip cookies in Rhode Island, I am not exaggerating. They are warm and gooey and huge. Breakfast sandwich Friday was my favorite day of the week last year because of their bacon egg and cheese sandwiches on cinnamon sugar bagels. Such a cute spot, lots of baked goods and coffee options. I got a pumpkin iced coffee, and a strawberry muffin. Both were delicious! The workers were very nice. If you love sweets as much as I do, this new bakery will leave you satisfied. It's a super cute space with delicious smells all around. I love that their menu is simple but fits many categories of sweets. Whether you like super sweet treats or something more mellow, you'll find something to love. If you're going for the sweet-as-heck style like me, go for their cookie dough brownies or a cupcake. If you're into something more mellow, go for one of their breads, scones, or muffins. My daughter is obsessed with their white chocolate cranberry scones and I will dream about their encyclopedia-level-thickness chocolate chip cookies. Cookies like that need to be shipped nationwide. And they have more unique options like whoopie pies and rum cakes. I myself do not have a gluten allergy, but I had to try their GF apple cinnamon scone because it looked too good. One of my students told me they have gluten free donuts on Saturdays. I do not know if that is true but if it is, be sure to check. And if not, you might as well stock up on something while you're there. Bonus: everyone working is friendly and welcoming and will offer suggestions for what to get. I have yet to try any of their coffees or drinks but if they're anything like their baked goods, I'm sure your scone and coffee will make quite the duo. I'm always up to try out new bakeries nearby. When I heard Under the Willow opened last week, I had to make a trip. I heard it was super busy on weekends so I took my daughter with me on a Thursday morning, hoping for less crowds. We got there around 10:30 and at the time, we're the only ones in the shop. While their menu is simple, there's still many options to choose from. I like my sweets simple and basic. I went for my all time favorite, chocolate croissant. My daughter had the same. I always find that bakeries that can master the simplest treat is what I consider a yummy staple to go back to. We both took out the chocolate croissants when we got into the car and that first bite told me I'll have to go back. The croissant ws flakey but not super airy so it's got a nice buttery texture. The chocolate was just right, not too much but enough that there's some in every bite. Needless to say, it was one of the best I've had around here. We got a chocolate chip cookie, gluten free oatmeal cookie, white chocolate chip berry scone, and a rum cake to take home. My son had the chocolate chip cookie but we all stole a bite (it was that huge). It was the perfect chewy chocolate filled cookie! I wish we got more than 1 hahaha. As of now, we haven't bitten into the other goodies yet but it's definitely promising. If you're in the Rhode Island area or just want to make a short trip to check it out, I highly recommend this bakery. I had a chance to meet the owner/baker. She's super nice and passionate about her work. The place is kept clean and has a fun decore. I can't wait to go back for more. I gotta try everything else. read more

At one point during the pandemic, I moved into my grandparents' house for a few months. I wound up becoming a regular at a nearby barber. After a cut one day I wandered into Under the Willow and fell in love. Everyone is so nice and the space is light and cheery. The coffee is solid but the BAKED GOODS. Everything from the scones to the cupcakes are some of the best in the area. You simply must stop in!!! read more
