We went here based solely on yelp reviews..it was very good pizza..different crust like everyone mentioned but very good..the place was completely full and we had to wait a few minutes for a spot but it was worth it. Even though our waitress was very busy she didn't miss anything...She wasn't the friendliest I have ever had, but she wasn't rude either. We have lived in various parts of the country and have sampled many different pizzas in the past 30 years. The Cloverleaf still is at the very top for pizza......great crust, fresh ingredients, slow baked......and the best Italian Sausage I have ever had. This is not fast food....small kitchen so if they are busy your pizza might take up to 45 minutes.....I always call ahead on pre-order. Have some popcorn while you wait for your pizza. I'm giving this place 5 stars just for the pizza alone. This pizza is totally unique. I haven't had pizza like it (and I've had lots of pizza...who hasn't?). It's truly one of those rare items that you crave and 'have to have' from time to time. That being said, the service is slow and the beer is just ok. The pizza far outweighs this and to be honest there is a certain charm to those drawbacks as well. You won't find a better pizza, imho. Simply delicious. I've seen people eating sandwiches here but I can't imagine why because the pizza is soooo good. There are a variety of types and you can always build your own. Through the years, my family has learned that the crust is almost always better on the regulars compared to the large ones... so we get two regulars instead of one large. read more

Best pizza I have had in the northwest so far, however there hasn't been any that I have liked yet. So this place will take the crown for now. We came here before bowling and got a pitcher of beer that was ice cold. Service was good, every other place out here is the counter order system that I do not like so it was nice to finally have a waitress. It takes them 30 minutes to make a 12 inch pizza for TAKEOUT on a slow sunday Me and the hubs ordered a 'regular' pizza and two sides of ranch togo and they told us it would be 30 minutes which I thought was odd (I've worked at a nice pizza place in Gig Harbor) and when they tell you that it really isn't going to take that long and your pizza will most likely sit on or under a warmer for 15 minutes. So we went there cause we were just down the road and we parked in the 'togo parking' which I thought was cute cause it's right in the front and I assumed they bring your food out for you. But then servers and bartenders kept walking up to the window giving us wierd looks like we can't be there, so my hubs decided to go in and pay and let them know we were there for the pizza, they were not friendly at all apparently ,and kind of acted like he wasnt sitting at the bar which is not normal at a bar!! so he was finally able to pay and came back out to the car and we waited and watched some hulu another 20 mins went by and he went in to see if it was ready, they ignored him at the bar AGAIN and he sat there for another 5-10 mins and finally got the pizza, he looked in the box and there was only one side of ranch so he looked up to ask for another and the girl was out of sight and he didnt want to wait another five mins with his pregnant wife in the car hungry and growing impatient. And as far as the pizza goes I'll stick with whole foods, at least they smile!! You guys need to seriously work on your customer service. There's no excuse for your employees actions. read more

I have been asked to write a review for a friend that does not have a computer. She states she and her friends come to the Cloverleaf frequently, sometimes lunch, sometimes dinner and has brought her visitors to the CL..Several months back she and her 3 exercise friends came up for lunch. They were waited on by a middle aged waitress that wasn't overly friendly and did not return to their table to refill their beverages. After finishing their pizza's they all agreed that the pizza was not as good as it use to be. Then on Wednesday 7/11/18 she had ordered 2 Monster Pizza's to go. She took the pizza's to her daughters house where her out of town family was visiting. They were very disappointed. Not enough sauce, pizza was dry and especially not much flavor. Ordered a regular pizza for delivery. Pizza was pretty small but was loaded with toppings. Honestly one of the freshest tasting pizzas I've had in a while. Ingredients were on point and sauce was perfect. I loved the crust but the middle of the pizza almost felt like it had no crust at all, very soggy. I had to eat it with a fork because you couldn't hold it. I will order here again and ask for extra crispy crust to see if that helps, if so I will redo my review and give more stars. read more

In the 1970s, my car club used to meet at the Cloverleaf Tavern and it truly was the BEST pizza around! So, as I had a girlfriend in from out of town who told me that she was hungry for pizza when we were at the Dollar store on 6th Ave, I started driving to the Cloverleaf promising her the best pizza ever! The Cloverleaf not only made me a liar but, the lousy pizza was accompanied by some of the worst service ever and a crazy parking lot! It was Friday night, about 7 PM and they were busy, although there were still several tables available on the bar side. I asked our waitress, who dropped off 2 small plates with forks & a bowl of popcorn when she arrived at our table, if she was the only one on the floor, she looked at me blankly and said, ' What?' . Maybe it was because the multiple TVs hanging on almost every wall and blasting different programs. So, I just gave her our order; Italian Salad, nachos & a 'HUGE' (they have Small, Medium and Huge which would be a large at any other pizza joint) Canadian Bacon, Pineapple and, Olive pizza to go, as their menu states that the pizza takes 45 minutes (and if you are in a hurry, call ahead)! Although our waitress brought me an Ice Tea/Lemonade (T& L) and my friend a water after we ordered, one of the guys from the kitchen brought out the salad and the nachos. My T & L was already empty and, since I didn't receive a water,I was dying for more, no one offered to fill it until we were almost done with the nachos & salad and the refill was not done by our waitress . When our waitress brought the pizza, she also brought the bill even though we were still working on the salad & nachos, without asking if we wanted anything else or even if we were 'ok' or needed refills! Now, the food: The pizza we didn't eat until we got home and, I was so disappointed, the Canadian Bacon was of the 'compressed meat' variety and, although I LOVE thin crust, they were very stingy with the sauce and cheese. It was a bit overcooked in my opinion, the olives were all curled up but my friend thought that it was ok... The salad was well mixed although a little heavy on the dressing but light enough on the cheese that I asked a guy that was wiping tables for a side of mozzarella. If you are like my friend who doesn't like spicy things, be forewarned that the Italian salad has more jalapenos in it that are quite HOT! The nachos were well proportioned but, the chips were stale. There was one piece of 'garlic bread' with my salad, do yourself a favor & skip this. It is a slice off of a loaf the size of crustini w/ herbs on one side & motz on the other. I believe this is made ahead as it is served cold & greasy. All and all ~ I feel cheated! It was a dining mistake that I will not repeat! read more

So, my family and some family friends were meeting up for dinner and some drinks at cloverleaf. We sat down and ordered a pitcher while waiting for everyone to arrive. Our family friends had something come up and couldn't attend, so we ordered some food. The deep-fried mushrooms. They were nuclear by the time they got to us, which is good. Taste-wise, they were good.. but nothing I couldn't have done at home. We had one monster, one veggie, and a small Pineapple and Canadian bacon pizza for my grandfather. The Monster and Veggie were good. Monster was a bit greasier.. but the taste was there for both of them. Not the best pizza I have ever had, but for the Tacoma scene, it is above average. My grandfather who is 90... ate every bite of his pizza... which is pretty rare. Now.. the one downside about this place for me would be the staff. Every single one of them had a 'I don't give a darn' attitude. To order anything, we had to walk up to the bar. Our appetizers.. pizza.. drinks.. everything. While I was there, I saw the bartender hand someone his change, one of the quarters rolled off the bar and landed on the ground. He saw this and just walked off, even though it was right next to a path out of the bar area. Luckily one of the waitresses saw this and picked it up for the old man. It's like walking straight into Tacoma circa 1982. Wood paneling. Formica bar. Really good pizza! Thin crusted with a delicious sauce and just the right amount of toppings. It's definitely distinct and delicious. Expect a wait though. Never had a pizza in less then 35 minutes there, even when they're not that busy. Pro tip: Order in. My husband and I love the Cloverleaf to pieces. It's our favorite date night when we're wanting a casual dinner. We've ordered a few appetizers here and there which are fine, but nothing mind-blowingly original. We've been frequenting for about 6 or 7 years, and continue to do so, solely for their pizza. I've seen reviews slamming it, but we've eaten dozens of Cloverleaf pizzas, each just as wonderful as the last. We've ordered to-go because of coronavirus, but nothing will beat sitting down in the bar with a couple pints of Space Dust and our favorite pizza (highly recommend the white sauce chicken add bacon). My recommendation for folks ordering Cloverleaf pizza to-go is to give it a few minutes in the oven at like 450 to revive the crispiness to their amazing crust. And I'd also like to add that if you've had a negative experience during the pandemic, have some grace and give it another shot. You won't be sorry. read more
