I'm trying to think of anything you can buy these days that comes with a true lifetime guarantee…read more I got nuthin' --- except Cutco knives. Cutco knives are made in the USA to last, and the Cutco company believes so strongly in its product that each knife is "guarantee forever" including free sharpening. What?! Until recently, I did not have Cutco knives but, just as I was contemplating an upgrade of my kitchen knives, my sweet Mom gifted me with the set she'd had for years but no longer used. Did the guarantee convey to a new owner? Were these older knives (circa 1970s) eligible for free sharpening? What about the French Chef knife that had a chink missing from the blade? Could it be fixed? When I called the Cutco Kitchen in Rollingwood (in the shopping center where the Post Office is) the answer to all my questions was, without hesitation or question, "yes." I took the knives in today and the experience couldn't have been better. It's a small shop but has a very wide array of Cutco products: all the knives, kitchen utensils, spices, gardening tools, and other handy household items. Although there was only one sales person present, I was the only customer so I had her attention immediately. The sales person examined each knife and found one that had a broken point, which I had not noticed. They would mail it and the damaged French Chef knife to the company for any repairs or replacement. The other knives were sharpened at the shop. I brought my non-Cutco knives, too, because they only charge $5 per knife for sharpening. This took about 10 minutes or so, more than enough time for me to pop by the USPO and Great Harvest Bread Co. where I got an amazing loaf of bread (but that's another Yelp review). Their process is to call me when the replacement/repaired knifes are ready for pick-up, which should be about 10 days. Yes, the Cutco products are pricey but I believe they are worth it. My Mom used her Cutco knives for about 50 years before passing them on to me and I suspect they will be around long after I no longer need them. In Cutco's case, you definitely get what you pay for.

If you take the knives to the store they'll ship them for free. Also, their store provides the best and very friendly service. You can't ask for a better value.

10/10 would recommend! What a fantastic experience. I literally started with block of metal and…read morewas walked through the entire process of forging a knife by hand. I was given enough steel to build pretty much whatever I wanted and got to pick whatever kind of material I wanted to use on the handle. As long as I picked a design I could finish in the 2 days I spent there, Chad was there to help me build what I wanted to build. Not only that, but this ends up a legit, strong, properly heat treated knife. He had me drop my knife tip first into cement, and then smash it into a concrete block multiple times to test the heat treating process... No real damage... try doing that with your store bought knife! He provided all the drinks and food for us all while we were there, and he didn't cheap out. He got really good food from restaurants in the area. We also had full access to his pool and hot tub, which was a welcome way to cool down after a day standing in front of a forge. Not only did I build a super cool knife, but the Caylor family welcomed me into their home and I immediately felt like I was a part of their family. The money you spend here goes straight to funding their non-profit, Reforged, which helps military and first responders that are suffering from PTSD. So not only do you get an awesome experience, but the money you are spending goes toward a good cause. For real though, this place is amazing. I'll be back.

Michael was very responsive, gave me same-day service at no extra charge, and even picked up and dropped off my knives for an extra $20! My dull knives were sharper than they've ever been in less than a day for a lot less money than I would have spent shipping them off. Michael does the work himself and took time to explain the different sharpening methods he would use based on the steel composition and degree of my blades. He's highly professional, considerate, and fairly priced. It's unusual to find someone that takes such great care. Do yourself and your kitchen a favor and give Michael a call!

I texted them what I needed and if they had same-day appointments, which I was able to schedule within the hour much to my delight. They sent me their prices and confirmed how much I would be charged. They shared with me their address and drop off location as there's no where to wait. I drove to a local coffee shop nearby to wait. From drop-off to when I received their text to say they were finished took about 30 min. Pretty darn fast. They sent me payment details and reconfirmed how much I owed. I drove back, picked up my hatchet, Venmo'd them, and that was it. I'm glad that they're located in north Austin and not too far of a drive from where I live. I took off two stars due to quality concerns. Although the edge of the blade is sharp, they didn't sharpen the edge into a convex edge or at least ask if they should sharpen the edge that way. My axe had never been sharpened before but a convex edge would have been most appropriate for my use case. They also didn't sharpen the entire blade. From my pictures, you can see that they missed the top corner of the blade (rounded). You can also tell that the edge isn't centered. The axe was bought this way, but I expected Seriously Fast Sharpening to center it or at least make mention of it. All in all, a 3-star experience. I appreciated their promptness and quick communication, but I expected more in terms of craftsmanship quality. I may try them again for some smaller blades in the future.
