This company is incredible. Owner picked up on a Sunday evening around 7:45pm and was most professional and answered all our questions. This company is the kind that MAGA! They sharpened our 6 favorite knives within 1hr and they were done perfectly. I don't know if this is good or bad (ironically, it's good thing!) but my dad was cutting potatoes and knicked himself slightly and bled. This guy knows what he is doing. If you want sharp, you will get sharp! The other thing that stands out is that I delivered the knives loosely and when he returned them to us, he had them wrapped neatly in newspaper and taped nice and clean. He understands safety first. This company knows what they are doing. Lastly, my mother cut a loaf of bread with her newly sharpened knife and she said it sliced through entire loaf with one swift motion.. like butter. If I could leave more than five stars, I would. This guy is amazing. Fine craftsman. Artist. Wizard. I damaged the blades on two expensive pocket knives, stupidly trying to sharpen them on a automatic knife sharpener. I'm pretty particular about this sort of thing and after trying to fix them up myself on a whetstone, I thought that I was out of luck. Anthony restored the knives to better than new. I have like four different sharpeners at home, but, they just don't get the job done. My knives got so dull I was sawing meat instead of cutting it. That's when you know it's time to seek out a professional. I checked out these guys and a store in Cedar Park. These guys offered the best price and turn around. At four dollars for a straight blade and five for serrated with a one hour turn around, I couldn't pass them up. Some other Yelpers have dissed on the service as being rude. I didn't think so at all. No the guy wasn't the most outgoing man in the house, but, he didn't feed me bullshit and rip me off either. So you decide. Do you wanna stand around laughing and boring each other with nonsense conversation that you'll more than likely forget the moment you leave the store, or, do you want a good business deal? I'm all about the latter. I took nine knives in for sharpening. One was serrated. I checked in on Yelp and saw a 10% promo for the month of May. What the hell. It's September, but, I asked if they'd honor it anyway. They did! Total, my bill was roughly thirty-three dollars. From the quoted price I came out on the better side and my knives are pretty dang sharp! I'm happy and have been running around the house with one of the butcher knives playing Michael Myers. It is that time of year you know. These guys do more than just sharpen kitchen knives. Basically if it has a blade or edge they do it. They even buy, sell and trade, and, offer knife throwing classes. Bring your knives, tools, scissors, swords, etc you won't be sorry. And just for clarity from another review I read, they do indeed take plastic. Not sure what that reviewer was on about. I'm glad I found these guys and will definitely use them again. Yep, I'm a fan. Saw the sign driving by and had been meaning to take all my pitiful knives there for the past year. I finally did it. The place was pretty intense -- all kinds of knives and other stuff to hurt people with. = ) They have classes in knife throwing, too!! Very cool. Guy at the counter was super nice; price was reasonable; they have easy parking; knives came out really nice. I actually forgot them there for a week, so they gave me a call. Very nice. What would be really great is if they set up a knife sharpening operation at the farmer's market in Cedar Valley (hint hint hint). Then I could take my knives to the farmers market, shop, then pick up the knives on my way home. They had that set-up "back where I came from" at a few of the farmers markets and it was really cool. Anthony did an extraordinary job sharpening my medieval hand and a half sword. The blade edge is perfectly sharpened, being very sharp yet with a good amount of meat behind the edge for durability and has a superb shining polish. It shows just what kind of businessman you really are. Your customers can simply read your responses and know what kind of person they are dealing with. To your accusations: That I brought you a replica, made in China sword: Yes, it was made in China (it's a Chinese Sword!). As far as it being a replica sword, I have taken it to 2 university historians and two knife experts (No Thomas, you are not included in this) to find out it's authenticity. None of these people could authinticate the sword because it was mass produced in at a time when steel was in short supply and these swords were cheaper to make than guns. This sword was not meant to be a family heirloom, it was made solidly and roughly for fighting invaders and beheadings. So none of these experts could put an exact date on this sword, but I guess you know more than they do....Irrellivent anyways, whether it was a replica or not doesn't excuse a half-assed job. To the accusation that I wanted to use cheap materials: It came down to a choice between using Japanese thread or using paracord for the wrap (not the handle). I chose paracord, and good thing I did because it would have only cost me more $$ for cheap work. No illustration of what you were going to do was ever presented to me other than when we talked for a few minutes in your shop (during which time several of your customers marveled at this "cheap, replica, made in China" sword. All I asked was to not change anything about the size of the handle and do a wrap. The first time you returned the sword to me, the handle had a circumference of 8 inches. How ridiculous is that? The only thing that out-does it is your "repair" in which you cut the wooden handle down to a 3.25 inch circumference. Yes, you did not charge me for this, and for good reason! The damage on the blade from where you removed the epoxy you spilled amounted to the removal of a lot of patina from the blade, as well as scratches that went down to the metal. To your last point, and I quote: "its a shame any asshole can be a liar on the internet and it gets posted" I really couldn't agree with you more. Low rent & low class. This place leaves me somewhat uneasy, so I know it's the real thing. I called a gun shop asking for knives. They referred me to another gun shop, who balked at even discussing double-edged knives, which are illegal to carry (but not to own) in our state: they stock none. Knife Sharpest has balls: I bought my doubled-edged black finish Colt dagger online, and this guy didn't even blink when I asked him to do both edges. While he was down to sharpening my murderous tine, I browsed, finding double-edged blade after blade for sale. Why not? They're totally legal to own. Claymores. Katana. Tomahawks. Hand-forged German blades. Bowie knives bigger than life. Bayonets. Not posh -- scary serviceable. Blowguns. Cash only. Yeah, there's a bunch of kitchen knife and shovel sharpening going on, but when I drove up, a kid was throwing at a wooden target behind the store. Wall-to-wall badass. read more

Well, the first time, he did well. I brought in some old Henkel kitchen knives and he did a good job sharpening them. So I thought he was good. The second time, I brought in some really nice knives. A 1964 Randall and a 1968 Loveless. These were my dad's, but despite 40+ years of careful sharpening, they weren't really that sharp. I thought a professional could show what these knives were really capable of. He wasn't in sight. A charming young woman took my knives to the back. A few minutes later they emerged. I cannot believe he did so much damage to these knives in only two minutes. Did he drop them both on the grindstone? WTF??!? Never, ever hand over your knives to this moron. In two minutes, he did more than $20,000 worth of damage to the two best knives I own. Sometimes he might be OK, but you never know when he might just be too drunk to walk, talk, or handle a valuable knife. read more

Dull Knives+Knife Sharpest=Sharp Knives. That's about it really. We use these guys at the pub on a periodic basis and they do what they do well, quickly, and at a fair price. Knives are sharpened to perfection for $3, serrated knives for a buck more. Even better, they come to the pub, whisk the knives away briefly to something called a Grambo Machine (in their truck) and return them sharp and ready just minutes later. We even buy kitchen and chef's knives from them once in a while, again, at a fair price. A pretty special specialist, and cool Austin business. read more

Oops, I thought I had called the south location to see if they were open on a Saturday, but I had called the north location, which I discovered as I pulled up to the south location and tried to walk into what felt like someone's house. A nice lady came out as I was about to drive off and let me know of my error, so I headed north... I took my chef's knife, my utility knife, a Cuisinart blade and my kitchen shears to be sharpened. I've had that Cuisinart for at least 10 years and never once had the main blade sharpened. When I went to use it tonight, the difference was amazing! Also, I had pretty much stopped using my utility knife so I thought I'd at least see if a good sharpening could save it. Turns out it did! I sliced shallots paper thin this evening! My chef's knife tore through a stalk of celery too! If your knives are to the point where you now hate to cook, then you need to get up to Knife Sharpest pronto. I hate leaving bad reviews for small businesses, but after using my knives over the Thanksgiving holiday, I feel I need to speak up. This place is under new ownership, and it seems the previously skilled sharpeners have left. First let me say the good things. My knives were indeed sharp after service, and Customer service was really good when I complained. The employee at the counter attempted to fix the problems I had, with some success. I was also not charged. Here is the bad: The profiles of my knives were completely off after being sharpened. These are Solid Forschner and Henckels brand knives, an 8 inch chef's knife, a 6' inch chef's knife, a long bread knife, and 2 Santokus. The Chef's knives all had their blade profiles flattened out, with a rapid sweep back to the tip. One knife you could literally lay flat on the counter with no roll to it at all. One Santoku had a sharp rocking point added to the knife so if you placed it edge down and lifted the handle it would clack back and forth instead of rolling. The other Santoku had the tip ground down to something resembling a Tanto, as though the sharpener could not get the transition from edge to tip correct, and removed too much material. The bread knife had all it's serrations ground down, the guy was able to fix this, and the blade came out very sharp, but a great deal of material had to be removed to fix it. read more

I'd gotten used to having knives that qualified as blunt bludgeoning instruments rather than slicing tools. My husband was not so impressed with that state of affairs. After reading all the reviews I was wondering if this place had gone bad since the last time I had knives sharpened there... which must have been 10 years ago. However it also seems like the only game in town so I headed up. It was just like I remembered it, which is to say no frills. You stand there for a couple of minutes while the staff helps a dad buy his teenage sons machetes, and when it's your turn, someone courteously takes your knives and gives you a ticket. Ours were ready in 3 hours when I had expected to leave them overnight. The staff aren't going to chat you up, but really, that's not what I paid for. Our bread knife is so sharp now that I can slice a bagel and no crumbs fall out. The cut surface is smooth and clean. I had forgotten that was even possible. For the regular knives, the difference isn't so dramatic, but overall we're happier with them and the price was very reasonable. They give a discount if you bring in 7 or more at once. I would never bring them my husband's super special Japanese knife because I wouldn't want to end up divorced if they ruined it, but I absolutely trust them for basic sharpening of kitchen knives owned by non-chefs. read more

I recently stupidly tried to hack through some oxtail bones while making a jamaican oxtail stew and dinged up my Wusthoff Chef's knife and was looking for a place to get it fixed up a bit and resharpened as I'd never had it done since receiving them a good 6 or so years ago. After looking around, there were very few options in town, and even fewer with normal business hours, so I decided on this place. I picked out a couple other knives I use frequently and brought the trio in for a sharpening. The store says they sharpen while you wait, so I thought I might be able to sneak in and out in pretty quickly, but I guess I came while it was busy and they said it'd be a couple hours. I couldn't make it back the same day and picked it up the next business day, and all my knives and block were returned in good shape, and nicely sharp and checking out was a breeze. All in all, I paid just over $12 for a chef's knife, a paring knife and a fillet knife, and after using the chef's knife for a few days I can definitely tell its noticeably sharper than I've had it in years. It makes cooking easier and more pleasurable using a sharp knife, and I'd recommend this spot based on my one experience with them. read more

I got four knives sharpened tout de suite here (in about three minutes on a weekday) and got to hold a Shun or two, squee. Quick, fast, and cheap! Parking was a bit convoluted to figure out, but keep an eye out for the sign and turn after the sign, not before. I wonder if people just bring their unguarded knives in here, and how they take care of it - the store has a padded basket, er duh. I don't think I would feel safe carrying a knife without a case in my car... you know those crazy drivers on Burnet. Do yourself a favor and carry it in a container. read more

So I heard about this place from a crazy friend of mine, he told me the guy running the place looked like Sam Elliot and that they had tomahawks. This was all I needed to check it out. So last Saturday we made a trip up north for breakfast and to check out this shop. Unfortunately when we arrived a younger guy who looked nothing like Sam Elliot was working in the back, presumably working on the knives for the next Machete movie. (I cannot confirm this though but that would be pretty cool) The selections of knives is OK but I gotta admit I was a bit underwhelmed, although the selection of kitchen knives was pretty good. The blade sharpening prices are easily visible and covers everything under the sun. While we looked around the shop 2 others came in and got sharpening done. The process is quick and the guy was friendly and helpful with tips for those getting work done. I would easily recommend this place to others and I will probably be back soon to sharpen up some chef knives. read more

A little disappointed to have to wait an hour, but it was the afternoon and hey, business is good! My knives came out razor sharp, and while the prices are clearly listed in the store, on Yelp it's worth noting that it cost me $43 to get every blade in my knife block sharpened. Mind you, I'm well-equipped (we're talking a chef's knife, an Asian chef's knife, paring knife, boning knife, a 10" blade plus scissors and 5 table knives), so the price is very reasonable considering I hone every time I use them and therefore only need to be sharpened a couple times a year. Reviews seem mixed on friendliness, but I musta warmed a heart because my service was courteous and perfectly friendly. I'll def be back and my consider taking one of their knife or tomahawk throwing classes. Wow! read more
