We've lived in Texas for several years and this was one of the most fun things we have ever done! It was my oldest bday and she loves knives. We walked in and they had a cancellation. Jay was absolutely amazing and so patient. Her knife took about 2 hrs to make and we had such a great time it felt like 20 minutes. He had great stories and kept us engaged. He communicated clearly with rules, expectations, and what each step was that she had to work on next. He had us laughing so much. Vic was another brother that was great. He kept my youngest, 9 yr old, engaged and had her complete attention. He was patient and helped her stand correctly and how to hold the hammer. And he had to repeat himself many times but never lost patience with her. He showed us how to make different nail swords and let her help too. This is a family business and honestly it is a must for any visitors, tourist, or even Texans that never see what's around them (like us!). I totally recommend bringing your family or friends. We won't regret it and you'll go home with a unique gift that you made yourself. read more

We forged a bracelet, small knife, and medium knife. One adult, two children. All were totally able & very interested in the entire process. Husband and I stumbled upon Caylor Forge while having lunch near by. We saw the building sign and decided to stop by and sooo glad we did!!!! It was such a fun experience! Victor was a great instructor. Considering I do not mess with fire at all ( not even grilling) I became very comfortable with the torch under Victor's guidance. Our spring break in Gruene was greatly enhanced by bringing the 6 kids (aged 7-17) to Caylor & Forge. They all chose to forge a knife from a horse shoe. Jesus was incredibly kind, patient, professional and knowledgeable and did a great job guiding the kids to make their knives. Everything from start to finish was fun, engaging and performed to very high safety standards. Our kids had so much fun making their knives and then enjoying peeling apples and working with their knives at their campsite. I would highly recommend a visit to Caylor and Forge if you have kids who are able to follow instructions well, and enjoy creating a masterpiece, as well as making amazing memories! We were visiting San Antonio from Charleston SC. My 20 year old son who is a hunter and fisherman was interested in forging a knife. The brother snd sister duo were very friendly and knowledgeable about their trade. My son really enjoyed working with with them to forge his knife despite the 100 degree heat. Took our grandson there for his 5th birthday. Such a wonderful experience! Vick was the most attentive, knowledgeable blade smith who went above and beyond to make his day so special.
