I was there today, 9/2/2026. they sharpened 15 knives in a half hour. Nice, thoughtfull people. The kind of business I want to support.

Belated appreciation post for this place and its skillful and helpful blade master Kenneth. You don't often hear "we'll make it work" these days when you call a shop for the first time to ask about their services. But I got that and more when I called about sharpening my lawn mower blade. This place is a gem and so is Kenneth, the proprietor and a former chef. He knows his stuff, and shared anecdotes about Anthony Bourdain, whose portrait is on the wall. There are so many cool things to see here. I got my kitchen knives sharpened as well and it all only set me back about 48 bucks. When you need to find "old Austin" go see Kenneth and get your blades professionally cared for. read more

Been going here for years! Kenneth is honest, friendly and fair! Great job on my regular knives and my Japanese blades as well, I trust no one else. Brandy up front is always happy, very knowledgeable and knowsher products and sells you what you need not what she can just sell you! Plus she's just fun and full of energy! read more

We bring our knives there every year to sharpen. They always do a great job. We bring about 7-8 knives each time. There are also lots of cool things to check out there like swords, armor, and ninja stars. read more

Scheduled this around my morning. driving half an hour to get something sharpened here because I wanted to place with good ratings that I could trust a half hour drive, waited two hours and a half an hour drive back and they tell me the owner never showed up big waste of my time. Can't believe any serious business would be running like this. read more

They do not answer emails or yelp messages after multiple tries over a course of 3 weeks.

This place never disappoints - skillful and efficient tradesmen! I've been coming back for 3-4 yrs and will continue doing so.

First Class people to deal with. Straightforward and fair. Prompt and efficient. What a great store. You must go!

Quality, price and speed of service was great. Will definitely use again. Well worth the drive from Wells Branch.

Great knife sharpening service. Friendly . Fast . Fair price. Used them for knives, scissors and chisels. Always happy with the results.

Maybe most walk-ins are oblivious to the going rates for knives, but as an avid knife guy I was offended at his prices. Blatant gouging on nearly every piece he has in there. Definitely has a great selection, but with eBay in existence, it's hard to take this guy seriously. Also not the friendliest chap. read more

I dropped by today with three knives I use frequently; all were very dull and difficult to use. I waited while the knives were sharpened and amused myself by looking around the shop at all the interesting items --- knives, nuncucks, swords, machetes, metal helmets and body armor. Oh, and if you need a spare key, do that here, too, and pick from a wide variety of colors and patterns! But, back to my dull knives. Once the sharpening was completed (and that only took about 10 minutes), these babies are like razors! The person who assisted me held a sheet of paper with two fingers and, to demonstrate, easily sliced top to bottom through the sheet with one of the knives. Wow. I'll definitely return when they need sharpening again. My only regret is that I didn't do this BEFORE all that Thanksgiving meal prep! read more

Some showroom attendants are not wearing masks. Customers are not expected to wear a mask. That said, service, quality and value of work are frikkin outstanding. Friendly, efficient and sharp! Got all my kitchen knives sharpened in 10 minutes. Also, if you happen to be shopping for Shun knife sets, armor (yes, really!), and helmets, this is your place. There you go. read more

Whenever we want our knives sharpened professionally, we take them to Austin blades. They do a great job on my wife's kitchen cutlery, my hunting knives, as well as outdoor equipment, like shears, pruners, and lawnmower blades. Most of the time they can do it while you wait. read more

Good folks who know knives and have a great selection of quality blades (Benchmade, Spyderco, etc.) as well as more affordable knives. Great sharpening service - quick and reasonably priced. Highly recommend. read more

I love this place! I have oster detachable blades and there's not really a place to take them and have them sharpened or serviced, until I found this gem! I got my blades sharpened overnight!! It was amazing! They sell so many different knives and swords, they sharpen and service (in some cases) while you wait! Can't wait to bring my wusthof cooking knives here! read more

Austin Blades is great! Super strong value and honest prices. Turnaround time is usually within a few days based on how much you're giving them to sharpen. They have an awesome selection of blades in general. I always find several things in store that surprise me. Great place to slowly browse the selection. read more

Very disappointed with the lack of concern from the owner when two of my knives were not returned with my order. He was very rude and stated they didn't lose knives and made no effort to compensate my loss or the cost of the sharpening. Beth D read more

I love this place so much. The brothers are awesome and so is the selection. There is so much personality and arcane knife knowledge here, they should make a reality show about this place. I don't live near Austin, but I make it a point to visit here every time I'm remotely near to the city. I don't make it a point to drop $300+ every time I visit, but their selection of cool blades is that good. They seem to do a brisk business of knife and scissor sharpening too. Can't say enough good things about this store. Come on down and give it a visit, you'll be glad you did. read more

Went here to get seven knives of various sizes sharpened. When I arrived at 11:30 a.m., the person who helped me asked what time I would like to pick them up. I said in an hour would work and he said that was perfect. When I came back around 1 p.m., the knives weren't ready. However, the owner said his brother didn't take care of it, but he could sharpen all 7 knives in about 10 minutes - which was fine. Left with sharp knives and it cost me around $45. The timing issue was a slight hiccup but nothing I would totally ding them for. read more

Awesome store! Great service! I was really pleased to find this store when my wife and I needed to have some knives sharpened. The service was not just friendly but also super quick. And it's not just a knife store - - Oh my gosh! They cut keys, too, but they have swords, armor... all sorts of stuff to look at while I waited for our knives to be sharpened. I was glad I patronized Austin Blades, also, because it is owned and operated by who are craftsmen. Yes, I could have taken my knives to the local location of a nation-wide hardware store chain and had a clerk help me with putting my knives in a machine, but I like supporting local businesses. Austin Blades takes the cake! read more

Took my old benchmade in to get the folding mechanism fixed. The guy whips out a knife and pries the knife open before I could tell him the bolt is snugged down, I guess he thought it was just gunked, but damn, never seen carelessness like that. I finally get it back after asking for a cleaning, sharpening and fix on the folding action. Nothing was cleaned. Nothing was sharpened. The folding action works. Then I noticed fresh gouges in the matte aluminum handle. I haven't worn this knife in A DECADE. And he tries to tell me it's normal wear and tear, then tells me (basically) to take off and doesn't charge me the $20 he said he would. ??? This is how you treat people? If you wanted more money to complete what I came in for, just tell me, right? This knife is one of the few things I have from my deceased father and now it's got fresh gouges in the handle from a careless technician. Was planning on getting a machete for some yard work, but now I know never to trust this shop with anything. Very disappointed. Response to owner: I in no way complained about the cost. The knife is important to me and I would gladly have paid double to have it fixed. You never once called or emailed me about having to get a part, all communication was instigated by me until you rang to say it was ready. I am weary of any place that takes longer than stated to do a service without relaying that info, so I asked if the price would go up. I think anyone would. You said it wouldn't, which is fine, but I am more than willing to pay asking price for services rendered, so don't try to paint me as some bully. You waved me off and said no charge after I pointed out the fresh gouges on my knife, not exactly a courteous thing to do and you never once suggested that you'd do anything for free. I would have declined your offer had it been made as evidenced by the $5 I put on your counter after being rudely waved off. This knife hasn't been carried in a decade plus and it has fresh gouges. It want cleaned or sharpened as was part of my request, which you do not deny. I think you knew you'd have a problem with me when you saw the gouges and didn't want to be responsible for marring a generational heirloom. That's why you, now, say you would haven't charged me. Your problem is that you assumed I was gonna be jerk about the time and money, my problem is that I didn't just call benchmade myself and get a washer. read more

I'm pretty paranoid about letting people sharpen some of my "showpiece" knives as they're super thin, generally temperamental Japenese knives. Specifically in this case a Kikuichi Nickel Warikomi Damascus Nakiri that was given to me as a gift. Lately, it'd been sticking in a way that I wasn't a fan of, the shops around town that sell them weren't much help in terms of getting it sharpened, so off to google I went; these guys were pretty close I figured I'd swing by and check them out. I was a bit hesitant since the site said they used a belt and strop for the sharpening process, as I've heard plenty of horror stories about how knives can just be absolutely mangled by them. However, after talking with one of the brothers who own the shop, (I'm sorry I can't remember your name!) and looking at the knives they had on the wall, it was clear these guys weren't screwing around. He checked out the knife, told me it didn't need sharpening, just a bit of leather work to polish it up, I okayed it, and he took the knife into the room with all their tools (which has a window so you can see what's going on inside) and about a minute later he was done, and the knife was ready to go. They also put a razor edge on my heavily used/abused 15+ year old 10" Mercer chef's knife and 8" Ginga Yanagiba. They also stated that they offer hand sharpening, i.e. whetstone work, but it's a higer price than using the belt machines. When the showpieces get worn down enough, I'll take them up on that. TLDR: You can trust these guys with everything from your run of the mill chef's knives, to stupid expensive showpiece knives with peace of mind that they're going to treat them right. read more

Austin Blades - The Kikuichi NWD Nakiri after Austin Blades worked on it - pristine. - Knife Sharpening Near Me - Austin, Texas

I have made two visits to this business. The first time, I had three chef knives and a cleaver sharpened. The second visit, I had my small hand axe that had a chipped blade, sharpened. Both times, service was prompt and professional. On the first visit, I dropped the knives off and picked them up later. With the axe, the gentleman re-set and sharpened the edge while I waited. I'm very happy with the edges that they put on all of my blades and the price can not be beat. I was a little nervous to take my expensive chef knives to a business for sharpening, but after this first visit, I'm now very comfortable in trusting my knives to these guys. read more

I spoke with Anthony yesterday.... very personable and easy to talk to. I let him know I was in a rush on a blade I was getting in for a friend. He let me know that if I only had one blade he could get it done while I wait. Well I'm here now, and Anthony got it done in less than 5 minutes. It's extremely sharp, and I know my friend will be very pleased. Thank you so much Anthony! I will now be bringing in my kitchen knives to get sharpened! $1.00 per inch.... freaking cheap! read more
