Moving to a new city has its perks. Maybe it's a bigger home, a better job, better schools, a nicer…read moreneighborhood, or simply a better place for your family. But something nobody really talks about is having to start over with all the little places you trusted for years. Finding a new restaurant, barber, mechanic, car wash, dry cleaner, and everything in between can be surprisingly difficult. Sometimes it's easier to just drive all the way back to your old city because you already know who you can trust.
Thankfully, Holiday 1 Hour Cleaners has become one of those places for us.
This is a small family owned business run by Maria, her daughter Sylvia, and their family, and you can feel that difference when you walk through the door. You're greeted, acknowledged, and treated with respect. That sounds like such a simple thing, but unfortunately common courtesy, manners, and making a customer feel welcomed seem to be disappearing from a lot of businesses nowadays.
We've brought them everything from dress shirts and dress pants to suits, dresses, and other pieces we actually care about, and they've consistently done excellent work. When you hand someone clothing that was expensive, has sentimental value, or that you need for an important occasion, there's a certain amount of trust involved. Holiday has earned ours.
Their prices are fair, the quality of their work has been consistent, and there's ample parking, which makes dropping off and picking up very easy.
We used to own a restaurant, so we understand the other side of the counter too. We know how much a compliment, a good review, or simply hearing "thank you, you did a great job" can mean to a small business. People are understandably quick to speak up when something goes wrong, but when someone does their job exceptionally well, sometimes we forget to say anything because we think, "Well, that's their job."
It may be their job, but that doesn't mean their effort should go unnoticed.
There are real people behind these businesses. People working long hours, dealing with deadlines, caring for other people's belongings, and trying to make every customer happy. A little patience, kindness, and respect goes a long way. Treat people well and, in our experience, Maria and her family will give that same respect right back to you.
So when you find a small family owned business that treats you well, charges fair prices, takes care of your belongings, and consistently does good work, support them. Tell them. Leave the review. Recommend them to someone else. Those little things can mean more to a family business than most people realize.
