A lady sewing right next to the reception desk did not make it a point to greet me...to ask me to wait ... nothing. I stood there for a bit only to be ignored by this lady. My husband took our 10 year old son's suit here to be altered. They would not have been my choice for an alteration, but I asked him to handle it and that's where he went. When he got home he told me it would be ready in TEN DAYS. I was shocked. Why would it take so long?! I've never had any alterations take so long. He assured me it would be fine. Fast forward ten days later when I go to pick up the suit, and I find out the cost of the alteration was $75.00!!! FOR A LITTLE BOYS SUIT?!? They did a VERY MINOR alteration on his pants and jacket (maybe 1/2 an inch on each). At first I thought (hoped) I misunderstood, nope, $75.00!! I texted my husband asking him if he had asked the price before leaving the suit, he did not, so that was on him. If he knew what they were going to charge for such a minor alteration, I'm sure he wouldn't have left it with them. What a ridiculous and dishonest price. read more

I walked in today to get two pairs of pants altered and tapered. The lady that was sowing behind the counter looked annoyed when I walked in to the establishment and was greeted with a "What do you want?" I said excuse me? I told her why I was there and I presented her with two New Tommy Hilfiger chinos that still had the tags on them. She looked at me with disgust. She fat shamed She Tossed and unfolded my pants with only one hand as if my pants were dirty or had some sort of disease. She looked at me and looked at the pans and said "you come back next week". I said, excuse me??? She rudely pushed my pants towards me, and she went back to work. Never going there again. She has bigger issues. read more

Shoddy. She just doesn't care about quality. All she wants is the money. I've had more than three items DESTROYED this year alone. And hey you, with the 5 stars -- I call bulls hit right now. There's no way. After being a polite and flexible customer, weekly, for 7 yrs., I actually WAS a regular. In the last year, they went to crap.. i.e. bottom of the barrel! They weren't that great to begin with, they are a block from my house, so... Hey. But I'm CONSISTENTLY returned clothes with spots that were apparently "dry cleaned." I was returned an item that was not tailored, after being fitted by the witch herself and paying. I've had clothes dry cleaned here that come back to me with the same piece of tape on it that it went in with. I've had clothes destroyed from shoddy sewing and excessive hems -- and, without so much as an apology. No store credit, nothing... I guarantee you she will say she tried, and you owe her for her effort - what exactly did she try is what I'd like to know?! Be advised. I think this dry cleaner may be the only business that I miss after moving from Whitter... Not because they give me calendars for the new year... Not because they give me complimentary lint rollers from time to time... Not because they always have collar stays available when I need them... They won me over for their speed and the quality of their work...I'm not the type of guy that wants to make my problem your problem (i.e.: my flight is tomorrow, so you have to do this, etc), but Walt's Cleaners always got my stuff done promptly... My skin is fairly sensitive to the work of certain dry cleaners (i'll get red around the collar from the chemicals that some cleaners use), and never had this problem at Walts...That's quality! For these reasons, I continued to go to Walt's every now and then, even living in Irvine...just for the consistent quality...Sure it's CHEAPER at other places, but cheaper doesn't mean better...Plus, if you're that cheap, why are you wearing dry-clean clothes anyways? read more

One star is still not doing the justice for the service I received today. I want in with 7 shirts and wanted to explain the cleaning requirements and whether to do laundry or dry clean as per some of my shirts label instructions. The front desk lady with broken English was full of attitude, she just wouldn't want to listen to me, just wanted to bundle them up and throw them. I said I have specific requirements and expectations because I paid a lot of money for these shirts and whether she can accommodate, she then said to go somewhere else. There is something about the name Walt, I like it, its like the name Greenleaf, its part of the Whittier charm. The fact the lady knows my name goes really far. So far that I even had a Christmas gift for them at the end of the year. It's a local institution. The owner is Susie and I have been going there for so many years, I really don't know how long. The service is great. They have never lost anything of ours. I will run in throw a pile on the counter and she always refers to my by my name and will ask when would you like to pick it up. She looks for the stains, because I am usually in a hurry. Also, over the last few years I have lost weight and she has done the alterations on any of my really favorite items. So, I don't get the negative reviews from some of these people. They must have an interest in a competitor. read more

Took my suit in for dry cleaning on Monday and they tell me it would be ready Wednesday at 3 pm , so I pick it up pay and leave thinking everything is fine . I'm home getting ready to go out and celebrate bringing in the new year as I'm getting dressed I go to zip up my pants and no zipper I am so piss that I never check my suit before leaving , you can bet any time I do business with any dry cleaners I will be inspecting my clothes before leaving .Won't be back here no more. read more

I can't say enough nice things about this place!!!! The owner greets you by your first name EVERY single time you walk in!!! How does she remember everyone's name??!!! It's amazing!! Majority of the items I drop off are vintage items that are 60+ years old, she has never once ruined any of my items and always treats the fragile items with such delicate care. I'm never worried when I drop off an item. Walts is a little bit pricier than my previous cleaner (Naders) but I will pay extra for old school customer service, honesty and care every time!!! read more

I can only vouch for the hems on my slacks but they are pretty good and always clean. The lady there is always very nice n willing to take the time to measure you. She knows what she's doing. I've even taken old chinos and made them into shorts and an old button up that was too long. Very satisfied. It's about $7-$10 per item. Turnaround was about 3 days. Only 4 stars cause the price wasn't consistent. Maybe 10 for shorts? Idk. I'd still go back though. read more

Susie is a great seamstress and has done many many things for me from hemming worn cuffs in pants to making custom tablecloths. I've gone to Walt's Cleaners for 25 years, and have never wanted to go anywhere else. Clothes are cleaned on-premise by a staff who does a great job. Same day service has never been a problem, even when I needed something sewn or repaired. They are friendly and they care. What more can you ask for? I just moved, and have to find a new cleaner. Went to get a pair of just regular pants heamed which cost $9.00 (very expensive). Wore them once and washed them. The heam came out, returned to the cleaners and was treated VERY disrespectful, was told the heam she put in was the BEST for the pant. Was refused a ticket and told to return the next day. I was told "I'll remember YOU!" Returned the next day, my pants were thrown on the counter and she walked away. Looked at the heam and the original heam wasn't even taken out and when trying to talk with the person, she continued to YELL at me "I WORK, I WORK andtelling me it was my fault for washing the pants and all it needed was to be ironed and it would look the same as the other pantleg. She refused to fix the heam and when other customers walked in she walked away from me and helped the other customers. REFUSING to repair or refund my money for the pants. During this time the man in the shop refuse to defuse the situation and refused to have any part of it. I will be telling all my friends and family to NEVER go to Walt's Cleaners, they have horrible customer service skills and WILL REFUSE any repairs you need done or will try to make you feel as if is your fault. read more
