We came to this place, just off George Square, for dinner as we didn't feel like walking far from our hotel. The restaurant room itself was full but we got seated at the bar area.
This spot actually used to be the printing room and office of the Citizen newspaper. Now it's a restaurant elegantly decorated serving Scottish cuisine, along with some burgers, steak and curry. If you are a tourist you can try the local items such as haggis, fish n chips, mussels, venison burgers, steak pie, smoked salmon and more.
I had the haggis, which is among the best I've sampled during my two weeks' travel. That whisky-mustard cream is the best!! The mussels come in a very delicious broth. The fish and chips here uses cod, which is unusual as in our travel it has always been haddock. The waiter said usually in Scotland they use haddock and in England cod. We do like cod better so we enjoy this very much. The U shaped fries also add to the enjoyment, just like ruffled fries taste better than flat slices.
The wait staff is very nice and well trained, explaining the menu and recommending drink choices. read more
