During this pandemic takeout only time we tried the seafood platter. Took it home and man was it delish. Will definitely order this again. We have been in the area about 6 months and when I say that when my wifey and I eat here it cost less than the McD's across the street. No kidding. We love the home style cooking. If you are looking for a simple, tasty, comfort food, served with a smile then this is the place. I have been there for dinner/lunch a few times and have never been disappointed. Today I stopped in for breakfast and am still happy with it. The decor is rustic and anything but fancy. Mismatched chairs and folk art lend a "Mom an Pop" feel to the place. Friendly staff and prompt service make you feel truly welcome. A white board near the entrance is filled with daily specials, all VERY reasonably priced. When I say comfort food, I mean exactly that. No one is sneaking truffle oil in the Mac and Cheese. There are no reductions or glazes. Just uncomplicated, delicious and hearty food. I had the hash and eggs over easy. Included was toast and home fries, beans or hashbrowns. I opted for home fries. Not greasy, good flavor, they needed a bit of salt, but hey. The hash was perfectly crispy, eggs were over easy per my request. Portions aren't gut bustingly huge, but still more than ample. the coffee was fresh and much better than I expected. The only negative thing I can say is that the chairs are low to the ground. (I mean, you're not on the floor or anything, but when you're all leg, chair height is something you notice.) read more

Had to wait 10 minutes for a waitress on a Saturday morning - really? Plenty of open tables, so not sure what was the issue was. Food came quickly, eggs Benedict and Irish Benedict. Never happier than when I found out I can order pancakes and get three different kinds. I love the blueberry but have always wanted to try the apple walnut, the server let me know I didn't have to decide. Well then I ordered a banana nut one also. I could finish one and a half then had the rest the next day. LOVE these pancakes and will be back for more. read more

My husband and I have driven by here many times on the way to our family lake house. Every time we drive by in the morning, it always looks packed. We were on our way home on a Sunday morning and decided to stop in for breakfast. Given the packed parking lot, the wait was not actually bad. The restaurant is super outdated and could use a little face lift. It;s kind of dirty, so try not to look to closely at the tables, or windows. We were seated and an older waitress came by to take our order. We had never been there before so we had no idea what we wanted. She tried to take our food and drink order at the same time and seemed a little annoyed when we asked for a few minutes on the food. Before she walked away, we asked her what the specials were. When we were being seated, we noticed they had a specials board by the register but because it was so busy, we could not see it. She told us she didn't know and advised us to leave our table and go to the front the of the restaurant to look for ourselves. I get it you are busy, but come on, it's your job to know. She then brings us coffee and spills it all over the table and my napkin/silverware while pouring my cup. She then walks away and does not come back to clean it up, so I have to clean up after her. My husband ordered a sampler dish where you get a little bit of everything. I ordered plain pancakes and a side of bacon. My husband's homefries and eggs (ordered "over medium") were undercooked. The pancakes were okay, but no better than the complete, just-add-water mix I buy & make at home. The bacon was cooked well but did not taste like real bacon. It was horrible and I did not eat it. Our coffee was burnt. The only good thing about the meal was the cinnamon raisin toast my husband got with his meal. It actually tasted homemade. When the waitress brought our food, she brought the check as well. She never came back to check on our food or refill our coffee and water. She also failed to tell us that we had to go up to the register to pay. We sat waiting for change for an extra 10 minutes . They need to update and clean their restaurant, hire some actual friendly staff and revamp their dated menu, and maybe use better quality ingredients... yuck. I don't know how they have been in business this long and how they are always so busy. We will never be back, that's for sure! read more

I am happy to opine that both the food and service seems to have improved over the last several months. We come in at least once a week, usually after church on Sunday, and have noticed a definite improvement. Traveling for a long weekend and needing lunch, my husband remembered eating here at the Circle from the years he worked in the area. Country Cookin' at The Circle is one of my all-time favorite restaurants. I first discovered it as a young lad while on my may to T.L. Storer Boy Scout summer camp. Our hungry carpool was drawn in by the huge "Restaurant" sign atop this eatery, and every year since then, my friends and I have made an annual pilgrimage. The Circle has a low-key, casual and inviting atmosphere with a fun, country style. Various trinkets can be found hanging on the walls, and there is a loft over the counter with stuffed bears looking out at the scene. The staff is friendly and helpful, and the service is good. Most importantly, the food is excellent. The Circle serves up a variety of delicious diner classics for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. This is a place to get an amazing burger, if you so desire. I usually go for a bacon cheeseburger with lettuce, tomato, and onion for my lunch choice, and it is a wonderful meal. The breakfast selections, ranging from omelets to pancakes, are also phenomenal - just be aware that the pancakes (I get the blueberry) are huge! And if you are in the mood for dessert, you will definitely be satisfied. The apple crisp is excellent and the chocolate cake is absolutely rich. The Circle has become a tradition for me, and I highly recommend it anyone looking for some honest-to-goodness country cookin'. read more

The Circle is the living embodiment of "small town restaurant", without the politics that can come with small town establishments (I.E. Locals/Staff look at you as if you're weird if they've never seen you, or worse yet...cater to the people they know and give you slow service). I've been to the Circle countless times, with family, friends and my girlfriend and have yet to have a bad experience. While the Circle certainly isn't "super modern" with all the fancy fluff of other places, nor any iconic foods/unique dishes, what they do cook, is classic home style American food that is no frills, and all substance (and size!). The meals are always huge in the amount you get and great on price, this is truly a place where it's impossible to leave hungry with an empty wallet. Nor do they rely on hiring beautiful young women as waitresses, but competent staff that know how to do their job, without any extra fluff or B.S. fake smiles/attitude that you'll get forced upon you at many other places. If you like dishes like turkey, mash potatoes and gravy...you'll be in heaven here. Then again their fried foods like chicken tenders with fries are top notch top (and better than almost every large chain place too). It's food with an honest smile, in an honest place. And while not per-say the cleanest place possible, it is still acceptable for even a germ freak like me. read more

First of all, this place is not the Ritz, so I am amazed at how critical some people are when all in all it's a place to get a decent meal at a fair price. My boyfriend and come over from Manchester about once a month when I don't feel like cooking, but feel like eating. The menu is very varied, from hearty sandwiches to hearty meals or less. The food is decently prepared and I have always found the help to be pleasant and helpful....and don't forget if you do run into waitstaff that isn't at the top of her game, we all have our days! Some of my better meals have been the fried clams(whole and at a reasonable price) the turkey dinner,& all kinds of great sandwiches. For the money, you really can't go wrong. read more

Circle was recommended by a local but I never eat anywhere without reading Yelp. I was pleasantly surprised that reviews sounded like it would be fine for lunch AND there was a Yelp coupon for a free coffee etc for checking in. So I checked in and showed the waitress our coupon and she said they had no relationship with yelp, people keep coming in with that coupon and we do not honor them. She also said the owner did not look online at anything so he had no idea what people were saying. It is NOT the $2.00 for the coffee but seriously for good relations they should have comped the coffee and then contacted Yelp. The food was ok. I had buffalo chicken fingers with celery/blue cheese. The celery was crisp but both ends were brown as if cut days prior. My husband had a Caesar wrap which was good. The decor is dated and the rug was filthy, a good cleaning would not fix how bad it was. The woman's bathroom had a toilet that is either too old or has never been cleaned. I don't like to review off of one experience, and thankfully I didn't. I've now been back a handful of times. The service on all but the first time has been exceptional, I usually go with just my two year old and they are very patient with me and my son. The price is actually very light, food is good for the price, and they serve breakfast until 3pm which is bonus points for me. Came here at around 3pm after a hike with four of my friends. They were plenty of tables but still people sitting down and eating even though it was an off time. The server was very accommodating (we had some weird specifications for our food) and the food came out quickly. We all basically got burgers and they were typical diner style burgers which is just what I wanted. Basic but big portions and so so good after the hike. Very much a neighborhood restaurant feel and very good priced too! read more

We were passing through the area and there were lots of cars in the lot so we gave it a try. Wish we had gone to one of the other numerous eateries in the area. 2 of the 4 meals we ordered came with mashed potatoes. UGH. They were hard as a rock and cold. As I looked around the diner I noticed that no one was eating their mashed potatoes. So it was definitely not just us. One of their specials of the day was turkey pot pie. It was luke warm with a hard biscuit instead of pie crust. The few pieces of turkey were tiny cubes that were tasteless. Obviously this was processed junk, not freshly prepared food that you expect from a diner. Avoid this place at all costs read more

This place is underrated and a local hangout. I have always wanted to go here and stopped by on the way to see family. It is a quaint, mom and pop style diner with old-school decor and a country style feel. It is seat yourself, which we love so we were able to pick a booth by the window. Our waitress was professional and kind and greeted us after we sat. It was busy during the morning, which I believe is a good sign and honestly I'd rather wait longer for good quality food than expect fast food. To my surprise, our food came out rather quick and was hot and yummy. We both chose items from the special board. The portions were great size and our bill was very inexpensive for what we got. Had lunch here again today. 3rd time in a year. The food and service is always consistent. We like taking our motorcycle up here for lunch on nice days. We have always gotten the turkey dinner and are always satisfied. Today the squash was a bit off though. Kind of sour. I said to my husband that it needed brown sugar and a dash of nutmeg. I had to give this place three stars for two reasons: Not that I particularly cared (though others might), but the chairs (cheap metal frames with vinyl padding) were a sit away from being duct taped. Some were really in poor condition, and it seemed like cheap was the restaurants theme from the plastic plates to the tables and chairs. And the reason that I probably won't go back--our waitress seemed to have issues with me from the drink order! The food was good and the prices were good, I just think we got a bad waitress, which other family members have never experienced there. This was my first and last visit to this restaurant. I looked at my menu when the waitress came to the table to see the soft drink selection. There was a colorful strip of pictures that showed each drinks logo, the same sort of thing we've all seen in menu's at Friendly's for instance. So I looked at them and asked for Cherry Coke. "We don't have Cherry coke." Was her reply to my request. So I said "um, ok...Sprite then." And when she walked away, I said to my husband, "really, they don't have Cherry coke? Because I'm looking at it right here..." And showed hIm my menu. He confirms that it is indeed on the menu and then notices that we have different menus. It seems as if they re-vamped their menu selections but did not get rid of all the older menus? I don't know, I'm guessing here. In any case, there was no explanation from the server why cherry coke was on the menu if they don't carry it. A simple "we stopped carrying that 6 months ago" or ANYTHING really, would have been nice. She comes back and asks if we are ready to order. We order our appetizer and our meals. The appetizer comes out and we are about halfway through eating it when she drops the meals on our table and takes off. Not a single word to see if the app is satisfactory or if we are in need of anything else. So the meals sit on the table until we finish the app. That was ok for me as I ordered a cold sandwich, but mu husbands pot roast was now luke warm. She came back to see if our meals were good, we said they were, and she left, leaving the dirty app plate and individual side plates sitting on our table. She came back a time later, before we finished eating and dropped the bill on our table. When we finished eating, I sat for close to ten minutes waiting for her to come back so I could order a slice of carrot cake (don't order it BTW, it tasted store-bought). She brought the carrot cake with the bill, we shared it and ate it all because we paid for it, then put a credit card on top of the bill at the end of the table. Minutes pass, she comes by us twicce to take care of her other customers and never stops at our table to take the bill and card. So now we are looking at eachother like "what is this girls problem?" We decided she just didn't see us, but here she comes and goes again to visIt other customers, and doesn't take our bill and card. Ok, now I've had enough of what seems to either be an issue with us or her incompetence. I decide she's maybe really new at this and isn't thinking to either take our payment or to let us know we should take it up front. So we get up and go up front where I ask another server "are we supposed to bring this up here?" And they say yes. So when she takes it, I say "I'm sorry, but we've been sitting at the table close to ten minutes waiting for our server to take this--i don't know if shes new but maybe someone could let her know to tell her customers to take the bill up front, because not everybody has been here before." I was very matter-of-of fact about it, no attitude, not angry, because that's how I am. If there is a problem, the management should know and it should at least be investigated, it seems as if at least the one staff person could use a little education. Well the girl behind the counter didn't like that. She gave us the receipt to sign, threw our copy down on the counter at us and walked away without even a "Thank you" or "Have a good night" or anything. Don't go here if you appreciate professionalism or even basic courtesy. Come here to get decent food and decent prices and that's it! read more

The people here are extremely nice, and the establishment is obviously popular with locals. I thought the food was just ok, though. My seafood chowder was delicious, but the fried chicken was a pretty measly portion. Our waitress (again, very nice) kept forgetting things--kids' side dishes, drinks. This country style restaurant with a sign out front that reads: Country Cook'in At The Circle is great for comfort food. They serve breakfast until 3:00 PM and if you are traveling with a large trailer or boat this is an easy place to find a space to park. My husband ordered the turkey dinner with stuffing, baked potato and side salad. The turkey was deli style but not sandwich thin; the pieces were sliced thick and the servings were generous. I had pot roast with mashed potatoes and gravy, and fresh broccoli salad with onions, bacon and cranberries. Everything was tasty. They serve warm cornbread instead of rolls and we asked for a second serving...the cornbread was good. Service was friendly and quick. Counter stools, booth seating and tables are available at your choice. This is not fancy dining but neither are the prices. Good food for the money. I gave it 4 stars because comparing it to other restaurants of a similar type we both enjoyed it! read more

My Husband and I just moved to the area and thought we would try a new place for breakfast. We usually cook at home but wanted a treat! The seating was fine, there were a couple of open tables (since it is seat yourself). It was clean and most of the people seemed friendly. The waitress was out of sorts it seemed. Took about 10 minutes for a cup of coffee and about another 10 to give our order. Seemed more chaotic than they were maybe used to. The food was ok. I got the eggs benedict florentine. My Home fries, though nicely flavored were less than room temperature and the hollandaise was just cold. The eggs were cooked perfect though. I dont' care for my food screaming hot, but hotter would have been nice. My Husband got a chef's choice omelet and lets just say, he will not be ordering it again. His hash browns were done nicely however and the homemade raisin bread was yummy! read more

This used to be one of our top picks to go and grab a quick bite. We just returned from dinner there and could not have been more disappointed. Despite the outdated look (which doesn't weigh heavily in our rating), the food has definitely gone downhill. The lettuce served was wilted, the meat was processed and everything we ordered seemed initially frozen and just heated up. We cannot write this without complimenting the, as always, friendly staff. It is unfortunate that welcome will no longer be visiting with them any longer as they really do appear to be nice people. read more

Sad to say this family favorite of years has turned into a dud. We used to love coming here for family birthdays, and weekend gatherings; I often stop during the week when I have down time at work. Lately though, the service and food has taken a turn for the worse. I called in for a pick up breakfast order, and it started with a man answering, yelling hold on, and dropped the phone for a minute, then a girl answered and said I would have to call back because it was too noisy and she couldn't hear me. I called back 5 mins later and placed my order, Eggs Benni (eggs fried instead) and beans as the side.. I was told 20 mins, so I got there and waited.. It was finally my turn at the counter and the girls had to scramble to find my order. When they did, they told me they had run out of beans in the 20 mins I had been waiting.... so they gave the main thing I happened to be craving this day away, to another customer. It is just terribly disappointing that they are unable to care for all customers/ orders the same. To makes things worse, they proceeded to charge me nearly $11! Just far too expensive for a cold meal, with stale bread, and missing side. This was not the first time I've had a poor experience at this establishment, but I must say, it will be my last. read more
