    Bread with chicken liver spread
    Faye I.

I came here last year and I wasn't a fan of the food. Nothing on the menu looked appetizing at that time; however, I was here over the weekend and didn't have plans to leave Sunshine Village since the only way to get to and from the lodge is via 19 minute gondola ride... so we decided to give this place another chance. I'm so happy they changed their menu! The staff also said the menu has changed recently. We got the beef carpaccio for the appetizer, and duck and salmon for entrees. The duck was so tender and included the perfect amount of fat for each slice. Just a satisfying as a steak! The crispy rice and mushrooms that came with the dish complimented the duck well! We also had some bread with complimentary chicken liver spread. Wasn't a fan of the chicken liver, but chicken liver is an acquired taste. Salmon was on the drier side, but still packed with flavor. Shrimps went well with the fish. No reservations needed if you're here in the summertime as it never gets busy. Looking forward to coming back in the near future!

Buffalo sour (with buffalo trace bourbon)... excellent!

I highly recommend this restaurant. The views of the slopes are great, service is wonderful (specially if you have Eliza as your server) and food quality is good. As other reviewers have already mentioned, the location is great since this place is right in the middle of the slopes. Perfect place to stop over in the middle of the day for lunch or a drink after skiing, or like in my case, just hang out and have drinks and a byte to eat while waiting for some friends who were skiing. The place is very comfortable, with lots of tables right by the windows, but also a few very comfortable sofas for just lounging. Some of them are by the fireplace and some are by the windows. The Bourbon sours I had was espectacular... Buffalo Sour, and the Elk pot pie was pretty good. Great place to try.

My friend and I ended up here for early lunch since visibility on the ski hill was very limited. Great place to hang out next to the fireplace. Staff was friendly don't service was all right, and they came around and refilled water in the form of bring us a new bottle of water to refill. We had dropped a fork by accident and one of the staff members came up quickly and give us a new set of cutlery wrapped in the black napkin. Atmosphere was nice just for a casual conversation.the food was decent as well.we ordered a nachos and cheese which ended up being huge order.we tried the elk stew, and the kale salad.the nachos and cheese seemed really good with lots of cheese - my friend Said he would've wanted green onions, And maybe stuff like peppers. I really liked the Sauce on The kale salad.

    Beet and Goat cheese parfait.

We had fun. Food may not be the best but service makes up for it. Staff was super friendly and respectful. My kids enjoyed breakfast buffet.

We ordered two pasta verdes, one vegetable platter, and one bread and butter. The pasta verde was very bland and under-salted, to the point that we had to ask for salt, pepper, and cheese which our female server kindly gave us. The other dishes were fine, but some of the dips in the vegetable platter were either under or overly salty. We told our waitress about the pasta and she kindly said she would let the team know. Shortly after, a waiter/server came up to us (Asian, male) asking about the pasta. We told him it was flavorless and bland, and since we are an ethnically South Asian looking family, he said something along the lines of "this food is not typically spicy". We felt taken aback, as we love all types of cuisines, including pasta, and don't just prefer food with South Asian spices. We felt disrespected by this waiter, as if our viewpoint on the food was not valid. In fact, another review on Google from just a few days ago also presumably mentioned the same server (Asian, male) who invalidated their opinions on the food. He then went on to ask if we liked the spiciness of the Szechuan butter with the bread (?) and offered us sorbet, but we refused. They ended up taking 10% off of our bill due to our complete dissatisfaction with the pasta dishes. Ultimately, disappointed in the assumptions, disrespectful invalidation of our opinions on the food, and lack of flavor. Would ultimately not recommend eating here.

Great ambience, lovely and (VERY) attentive services. 3 people checked on us to see if anyone is already helping or if we need anything. Ordered the prime rib toast (wich is unexpectedly very delish..favorful..balanced...unlike all those toast i have eaten before...omg, im drooling as im typing). And ordered french omellette (my friend is vegetarian and she said it's absolutely tasty and yummy and she is happy to see quite good options for no-meat dish). We went to 4 other places during our 3days in banff, this is the ONLY place she praised (not simply bc of veg options, but the fact that its delish). That means something! They also generously gave us lemon cheesecake as bday cake (it was my bday and kinda nice to have small sweet celebration considering i was away from home). It was also our last day and we went to airport right after this brunch . What a beautiful end of our trip. Thank you, bluebird team!

However, the people next to us ordered various cuts of steak and those looked unbelievable!

Staff were so friendly impatient with us even when they were so busy most nights. We were creative and got something different to try each night and we liked everything. Something else we like more than others and would get over and over again and that includes the mushroom ravioli, cheesy gnocchi, the purple haze smoothie and kimchi burger. And I believe my husband really enjoyed his legume burger and I enjoyed my falafel salad however I substituted my falafel's for tofu. Ambience is great not too loud indoor and outdoor seating. Admittedly, I'm not much of a drinker but I'll have some once in a while and Bear Street seems to have a pretty good selection. I tried a Vietnamese Coffee Stout which I enjoyed. I'm definitely more of an eater than I am a drinker and the eats at Bear Street Tavern are excellent. My party got 2 pizzas and a salad and we enjoyed it all. To start we got the Tavern Bowl. It's a bunch of different vegetables with a Tahini Miso Dressing and kimchi on top. All the different textures and flavors worked really well together and the salad served as a nice break between bites of pizza. The Wheeler Hut pizza has mushrooms, ricotta, truffle oil, pesto, and mozzarella. If you're a fan of truffle flavor you'll enjoy this pizza. As soon as it was brought out I could already smell the truffle. The Mediterranean has olives, feta cheese, sun-dried tomatoes, artichokes, red onions, chili flakes, spinach, mozzarella, and balsamic glaze. A little busier than the Wheeler Hut, but it was equally delicious. I'm not sure which pizza I liked more. Both pizzas had a fantastic crust with some char. Substantial enough to stand up to the toppings but still a little doughy for a nice chew. The char gives a nice crunch as well. Service is quick and friendly and the prices are fair, especially in a tourist area. I definitely recommend Bear Street Tavern.
