First time here, and I was impressed with their food. I opted to go to the drive-thru, as I was traveling thru Marlin. Ordered the 3 piece dinner and got a side of okra and 2 hot buttery rolls and a half & half tea. The chicken had a nice crispy breading on it, nothing different than some other local joints I have been to before, but it was juicy and full of flavor. The okra was obviously freshly cooked and also had a nice crispy breading, but it was, like okra can be, kind of tough. Good flavor though. The rolls were hot and soft and had been dipped in butter, which gave them a great flavor, but also made them a little soggy. Nonetheless, I ate them both! The half & half tea was really about 2/3 & 1/3 tea, but not going to hold that against them. All in all this was a pretty good meal for $10. When in Marlin, do not hesitate to eat here! read more

Where do I even begin. Fast and friendly service as soon as I put the car in park at the drive through. We were presented with a very classic southern side selection reminiscent of big chicken franchises made with a homemade feel. We went with the fried okra and when I opened the container steam rushed out from every angle. If you've ever had cold okra you'd know how vital this is to a good meal. Perfect consistency and toughness. The gravy was impeccable and the chicken was nothing short of the best chicken finger I've ever had. Wouldn't recommend this establishment to anyone, very RUDE staff. At 8:20pm they start cleaning everything and restricting a group of people from sitting at a higher volume table. They get pissed off when you tell them more people are coming mind you they close at 9:00pm. They don't have any sweet tea made they try making it in a small pitcher. I legitimately thought there was a chance we were going to die. We walked in and the kid at the counter was actually pretty nice but everyone in the back was acting like a fool. Not a glove, hair net or hat In site(you know there's a big chance hair is going to be in your food). Everything was frozen and from the outside it looks like an old timey diner but on the inside it's a basic chain fried chicken store. A bit of a confusing name (people will frequently ask, "Which chicken place?" when I mention going here), but it has some quality home-style food. As their name suggests, they are best known for their fried chicken. I really enjoy their fried chicken and find it to be just as good, if not better, than many of the chains out there like Church's or KFC. They also have excellent sides--fried okra, green beans, rolls, etc. However, probably my favorite side are their fries. The way they fry and season their french fries make them simply heavenly, albeit completely unhealthy. They're crispy, salty, and have a nice deep fried patina to them. The other great thing about TCP is they usually have a small cafeteria-style set of options in the restaurant as well. My wife will often get their baked chicken with steamed veggies and red potatoes. This is a good option if you want to avoid the fried stuff. If you have a group that needs a restaurant for a meeting, TCP has a room in the back with doors that can be shut to separate your group from the rest of the restaurant. This is actually where the local Rotary Club has their regular meetings. If you set something up in advance, you can also take advantage of this next feature of the restaurant--catering. TCP offers some amazing catering. You would never suspect it from the inside of the restaurant (definitely as a greasy feel to it--hence why I only gave them 4 stars), but they frequently cater high-quality events. They've catered my former church's Thanksgiving meal, as well as countless meetings for a variety of organizations. I've almost never had any complaints about their catering, and apart from seeing staff members in TCP polos, you would never realize that such good food came from a little greasy-spoon chicken joint. I am writing this review from my experience this day April 8, 2021 Drive thru around 6:15pm. I have loved this chicken from the Chicken Place since I have lived here the past 1 and 1/2 years. Recently in the last 6 months management seems to have changed hands and today it seems to have changed again. Since this management change, they decide to change the delicious homemade rolls that came with the chicken. When I requested to purchase more new management gave me store bought dinner rolls charging an extra 26cents. Today the 2nd set of new management gave me all dinner rolls and charged me 40 cents for the extra. When I called three times they hung up and now they won't answer. The original fresh rolls were bigger and stayed soft and moist til the next day. These dinner rolls got hard as a rock and we're smaller than the original. To the owners these people are going to ruin your name. Sometimes it's better to quit while you are ahead. Nobody will do it like you did. They aren't running your business right. Changing up the way the chicken taste too, for the worse. I won't be getting a 15 piece family size with extras and a gallon tea twice a month anymore. I'm done. read more

Came back the same time at 9:20 pm. The place was clean and they were ready to go. Asked for gizzards and liver. Sir we can't cook them in 40 mins. It doesn't take that long to cook. Barely a 1. We've been eating this chicken for a very long time. The quality keeps deteriorating. We just picked tenders up, as well as fried okra(???). There is not o e bit of moisture in the tenders, unless you add gravy to it. It's clear that the chicken has been received...it's very dark, and of course, dry. Does not melt in your mouth, to make you want more, to say the least. Very very disappointing. read more
