We were ushered here by a lady and we were escorted on our table, we asked if we can have an umbrella up but she said NO, I AM NOT SURE. We just requested for a shaded area & she had us sit on table 116 which is in the corner & water dripping from the top floor ‍. Whew. Where do I start? Honestly I'm baffled with the amount of times I've heard "the oasis is good for the views, not the food". Easier said than done but- I personally feel like the oasis has had ample time to take this common phrase into consideration when it comes to their menu. The food is honestly bad, and I'm not one to be super picky. My fiancee got the fish tacos and still is having a hard time hours later (described the fish as biting into cardboard). I got the chicken enchiladas which were soggy on the outside and dry on the inside. Truly did not know that was possible. The chips and queso were the best thing at the table and were subpar at best. For a drink I ordered the piña colada which albeit- I wasn't expecting it to be amazing, but it was underwhelming, not well blended and was lacking flavor (and liquor lol). Service: the wait time was an hour for a table or a $10 cover fee per person in the group to be escorted to an area that was going to have a live performance in an hour. We chose the cover fee because my fiancée was starving. The menus are QR codes and we waited about 15 minutes to be greeted but honestly was not terribly upset at that since It was a Saturday. Returning to Austin after being away for 14 years, Oasis was a stop I insisted on making for the views, for the colorful and fun decor, and for the memories. It's a big tourist attraction and gets crazy busy. On the Monday night we were there we walked right in and got a lake and sunset view table. So beautiful! Take some time to walk around and enjoy the different areas filled with colorful artwork and funny sayings. There are statues and iron art throughout the property. There are lots of photo ops. Our food was chips/salsa/guacamole, chicken quesadilla and almond chicken entree. My drink was a glass of their house Chardonnay, which was very drinkable and good. The service is a bit on the rushed side--get our food and drink orders as fast as they can and then move on to the next table. It didn't bother me. Hey, this is not a fine dining experience here. The drive from Cedar Park felt a little intimidating for someone who is not from the area, especially because the restaurant is a bit isolated and sits so high up, but once I arrived, it was completely worth it. The only scary part was the drive. After that, the experience was wonderful. The view is truly the highlight of this place. It is stunning, especially around sunset. I happened to go on a Tuesday, so it was not overly crowded, and I was lucky enough to get a great table right in front of the sunset. I was able to take beautiful pictures and videos, and the whole setting felt special. It was a little chilly, but honestly, coming from the Northeast, a 60-degree evening in early April was nothing to complain about. The atmosphere alone makes this place ideal for a romantic outing, a family visit, or even just a relaxing evening enjoying the scenery. The restaurant itself is huge, with plenty of parking and more than enough space, so you do not feel cramped and likely do not need a reservation on a quieter evening. The staff was also a major plus. Everyone I interacted with was friendly and welcoming, from the host to the servers and even the staff doing the cleaning. That level of friendliness really added to the experience and made the place feel warm and inviting. As for the food, I would say it is good, but not the main reason you go. This is more of a place you visit for the view, the atmosphere, and the overall experience rather than for an exceptional meal. The food felt like regular, simple Tex-Mex -- enjoyable enough, but not unforgettable. I had a salad that was unique and good, and I also had a virgin strawberry daiquiri, which I enjoyed. I do not drink alcohol, so I cannot comment on the bar selection. Overall, the food was perfectly fine, but if the menu were stronger, this place could easily go from very good to truly outstanding. We come to The Oasis on Lake Travis for one main reason, the views. And wow, they never disappoint. This place easily has some of the most breathtaking views you'll find while dining in Austin. It is absolutely stunning. Every time we go, it still feels just as special and never gets old. The whole property is part of the experience. I love the different levels, the unique structures, the artwork, and the fountains. There are so many great spots to walk around, explore, and take beautiful photos. It's a fun outing in itself, especially with family. Now for the food, it's just okay. Nothing terrible, but nothing outstanding either. I would call it pretty mediocre overall, which is why I'm giving it four out of five. That said, the location, views, and overall layout and atmosphere are impeccable. It's one of those places you have to experience at least once if you're visiting Austin, and honestly, it's worth going back more than once just for the atmosphere alone. I have no idea why anyone who eats here would give this place anything below a 5-star rating. Perhaps some people have an unrealistic expectation of what "good service" is. You're right on the lake, so it's got that lake vibe going on for sure. We got the chips and queso (with ground beef), salsa, and the guacamole up front--all were delicious. We sampled margaritas and settled on wine with dinner. The food was nothing special, but everything was served hot, well seasoned, and exactly what we ordered. Service: beyond excellent! It was pretty busy for a Monday (it always seems to be busy), so things were moving slow, but we did not care!! We simply sat on our butts watching the sunset while sipping on cocktails and they all hustled around us. Atmosphere: the whole reason to go here. The Oasis on Lake Travis is just as the name describes. The "Oasis" has become a well-known jewel nestled in the Austin Hill Country. They are best known as The Sunset Capital of Texas because hundreds of guests from all over the world come to see the breathtaking views of Lake Travis and one of the most spectacular sunsets. I remember when it first opened and now it has expanded to a massive compound with multiple floors. We were coming to grab a bite to eat since we were in the area. Every time I come here it seems like it has grown significantly. We parked in the free parking garage and walked to the building and there are gardens and plants gallore with unique artwork mixed in. Lots of opportunities for photo ops. We were seated by the host quickly and chose an outdoor seat with a view. They have a variety of unique cocktails and I selected the Peach Pina Colada with Malibu Peach Rum in velvety coconut-pineapple purée in this a vibrant, peach-forward spin on a lakeside frozen favorite. There were so many other cocktails in the menu that I wanted to try that it was hard to make a decision. For my meal I ordered the Shrimp Skewers with bacon wrapped shrimp and BBQ Sauce. Served with rice and mixed veggies. I was pleasantly surprised with the quality of my food. My friend ordered the Shrimp Cocktail which was almost like a ceviche style served with avocado slices, chips and lime wedge. Of course had to take advantage of the gorgeous view with some photo ops. They have started a lovers lock tradition since the last time I was here. The service was a bit slow but that was to be expected with the large amount of customers that they have. Stopped at The Oasis on Lake Travis while heading from Leander to Bandera with an out-of-town guest, and honestly, you kind of have to when you're driving right by the largest restaurant in the U.S. The parking was easy, the entrance is impressive, and that view never gets old. My wife wanted to go to The Oasis for Mother's Day. I'm 57, and this turned out to be the worst experience I have ever had at a restaurant. My wife, I, two sons, and one of my sons' girlfriends. Had to ask for chips and salsa. Queso took a while to come, too. I ordered a Corona with salt and lime. I guess they are conserving salt, since none of the three Coronas I ordered had much salt on them. My wife's drink had no salt on the rim at all. Not a good start to a Mother's Day meal. We order our food. My wife ordered cheese enchiladas with Verde sauce. They brought her cheese enchiladas with red sauce. She said it was prepared incorrectly, and my son's girlfriend explained it to him in Spanish. Within 10 minutes, my wife still does not have her food. The waiter was notified, and he said he would get it. That did not happen. About 10 minutes later, I asked a manager about the situation, and he said he would take care of it. That never happened. Fast forward about 40-45 minutes, and my sons, my son's girlfriend, and I are done eating. Mind you, my wife still does not have her food. The 6 people at the table next to us are done eating, and my wife still hasn't gotten her food. Somebody comes over and talks to my wife about her order. Now the 4th person is aware of what my wife's order is and says he will take care of it. My wife tells them not to bring it because we're all done and ready to leave. My son's fajitas are already in a to-go box. So, 5 to 10 minutes later, they bring my wife her meal, even though she has told them she does not want it. Kind of like a slap in the face. To add facts, I never got a second queso I ordered, and I did not have anything to drink with my meal. Three people looked at my empty beer bottle and just walked off. So I notice my oldest son, who has about 9 years of experience in the restaurant business, is gone from the table. As it turned out, he had gone to speak to a different manager from the nice one I spoke to earlier. My son came and got me and told me the manager is being an "Ass" and is totally arrogant. My son also told me that as soon as he met the manager, he said, "I am taking the plate off the bill, and that is all I am doing." Never listened to any explanation as to what had happened. The manager comes over to me, smiling, and tries to shake my hand. I was not in a handshaking mood. He automatically stated that I was hostile and rude. I had not even said anything. When I said that my wife never got her food in an hour on Mother's Day, more than a plate coming off my bill was in order. Never raised my voice. He then said I was being rude to him, and he did not like my tone. I said, "I don't care what you think." He continued to make this situation about himself, even though he should have been the most apologetic manager ever. I leaned in close to him and, in a low voice, I said, "This is F'ed up, and you know it." Now he's loudly saying I cussed at him. I said, "I said a curse word, but it was not at you; it was about the situation." Again, trying to make it all about himself. I was told I had to leave the restaurant or they would call the cops and have me removed. I never raised my voice at anyone during this horrible encounter. I have never had an incident in which someone tried to scare me through intimidation. They tried to instigate me into saying something. A bigger employee came over and actually stood where he was, looking down at me, saying, "You are being kicked out, and you have to leave, or we are calling the police." I left. They ended up comping my wife's meal, which she had said she did not want, a queso I did not get, and said we could have some free ice cream for dessert. I called and left a message on Mother's Day to the Executive Director of The Oasis, asking to speak to her about the incident. I also called the day after and left a message for the General Manager asking to speak to him about the situation. I also called yesterday, and neither has ever called me. I would love to sit down with the General Manager's father, the owner, and see if this is commonplace. I have been going to the Oasis since 1983, and it used to be fantastic. If it weren't for the lake, this place would have to shut down. read more

I literally have not been to the Oasis on Lake Travis since it burned down and was rebuilt. It was completely different than I remembered - main building expanded, new large, extension of the main building and a parking garage. They now have places you can take pictures including a metal carriage. Inside there is quite a lot of eclectic artwork. When we went into the Oasis it was overcast, but with the possibility of thunderstorm according to the weather alerts. As soon as we walked onto the deck one of the managers said you need bring everyone in. Just like flipping a switch, it began to rain heavily...the kind of rain that feels like cats and dogs are hitting your roof. The lake was roaring and stirring the waters. It was a bit scary for a minute. Well, needless to say, we did not get a chance to have our appetizer and drink while we watched the sun set. However, it was very impressive how quickly all the customers were removed from the deck due to the inclement weather. We all got soaking wet, but walked way feeling good about the entire experience. On a summer Wednesday evening, we had no trouble finding parking in the front lot. We arrived a bit early, grabbed a beer from the upstairs brewery (great views and solid selection), and enjoyed the scenery before dinner. Our group of nine was seated easily on the patio, and the views were as incredible overlooking the Lake Travis sunset. Our server was friendly and attentive, and despite me being picky about margaritas, the frozen house marg was great (not overly sweet). The outdoor seating has the best views of lake travis but came with the sacrifice of being hot and sunny at times. The service was okay, the waiter had forgotten about us multiple times and took about 30 minutes to even order our food. We got our food about 20 minutes after and were immediately started to eat. The food was pretty good, but nothing I hadn't had before. As I'm approaching the end of my food, I found two strands of hair in my food and I had brought it up to the server but she didn't seem to take much importance into it. I went to Temple, TX for my cousin's graduation, and we flew into Austin. Since it was Mother's Day weekend, I thought, hmm, me and Mom can catch a vibe before we fly out of Austin for the holiday. I'd seen The Oasis on Lake Travis on TikTok and thought, yes, let's give it a try. It's about 37 minutes from the AUS airport. We got there around 12:15 p.m., which gave us just enough time before our 5 p.m. flight. When we first got there, it kind of looked like a ghost town. Most of the shops upstairs were closed, and I started to second guess the trip--until I heard music. We didn't have time to check out the area with games, so we headed downstairs and found the gift shop. There, we bought mood rings (yes, we're old-hearted like that). After the gift shop, we wandered up into a tower and almost crashed what looked like someone's wedding reception! Whoops--just exploring, sorry! Next, we made our way into the restaurant. They don't take reservations, but we were able to get seated right away. Unfortunately, the view from our table was ehh. We were behind a pillar, so it blocked a good portion of the scenery. I did notice customers had put locks on the fence, though, which I thought was cute. While Mom waited for the food, I headed back to the gift shop to grab a couple of locks. They were $20 each--sheeesh, just take all my money! They let me borrow some markers to personalize them, but I had to return the markers to get the key. Now, the food... nothing to write home about. We both ordered the shrimp tacos. The shrimp lacked flavor, and the sauce was a little too heavy on the mayo for our taste. I had a taste of Mom's gumbo--not exactly southern-style gumbo. The flavor didn't hit either. We also shared chips with salsa and queso. The queso had good flavor but was super thick--I wish it had been creamier. The beans and chips & salsa were good to me, though. I had the Prickly Pear Margarita, which was nice--not too strong. Mom loved the sweet tea. After we paid and returned the markers, we walked down the steps to get a better view. We took photos and videos. Even though the food was a bit of a letdown, we still had a good time. let's be honest people only come here for the view not the food. The food is really bad, but this place has gone downhill first of all. I'm guessing that they have a new management or somebody bought the place because the outside exterior and all the shops that used to drop people in while you were waiting 45 minutes for your table those shops are now gone. They have about 20 teenagers who have no idea who are working here as hostesses and waitresses they are unnecessary and actually taking up space we're here today on Mother's Day and you have one bartender, seriously one bartender and I asked what happened and they said Covid and I said Covid was five years ago. First, let me preface this with I do not understand this place at all. It's like a theme park with no rides or a place that was going to be something but then it just didn't become anything. All of this to say, it's weird. A lot of weird statues and buildings for no reason. The decor inside and outside is confusing - no real theme, too much of everything. BUT - there is a great outdoor view of lake Travis and at least when we went, we had great, fast, friendly service (shout out to Wyatt!) and we got exactly what we wanted. We were looking for a lake view restaurant with queso, chips and coke. And that's exactly what we got for $14 total. Can't beat it. Again, crazy atmosphere, super confusing decor but if you go in just wanting something snack-y with a view, it's great. read more

Rumor has it that The Oasis has great drinks, and it's true! Really enjoyed my Chamoy Margarita. If you like Chamoy, I 10/10 would recommend. The atmospherics speak for themselves. One of the most unique venues I've ever been to. This is what you come here for. I think everyone in ATX or visiting the city should come at least once! The view is beautiful, and there is PLENTY of seating - indoors and outdoors. They also have multiple floor levels. read more

The views from The Oasis are absolutely breathtaking! A versatile place for people watching, a tasty meal and relaxing on the deck while watching the beautiful sunset. While my partner and I didn't order food, we did enjoy a few different drinks. The Oaxacan Old Fashion was spot on and aromatic. As a dirty martini lover I was doubtful about the Mexican Martini but I was not disappointed! It was sweet and citrusy with a touch of olive juice for a little "dirtiness". The Tropical Depression was a little too sweet for my liking but was refreshing and flavorful. The Paloma quite the opposite regarding sweetness! The lime and grapefruit juice gave the drink a tartness without being overpowering. read more

I've come here with out of town guests to enjoy the view and that is the ONLY thing you can enjoy here. The food is so consistently bad. At our last visit, my iced tea tasted like it was made 2 days earlier. The guac was barely ok and very spicy and the salsa was way too hot for standard palates. We didn't stay long so I can't comment on service. Seemed okay. It probably sucks to work there too. It's too bad they could make this an epic place if only they decided to serve quality food. read more
