Great place! My wife and I just dined here. Pan-seared sea scallops over mushroom risotto. Delicious, cooked perfectly. Started with a simple salad, wedge of romaine with multicolored grape tomatoes, freshly made blue cheese dressing with bacon crumbles. Nice intimate ambiance, good wine list. A tad on the expensive side but worth it. Celebrated our 50th anniversary here last year with a great filet mignon. Have a fantastic bar for beforehand. read more

This place gets 2 stars for decent food and friendly service. I must first start by setting the scene...it was a Wednesday night at 6pm that my husband and I walked in for our first time and saw a few staff and 2 people seated at the bar (which greets you as soon as you walk in the door). There wasn't anyone to greet us at the door, just a jumbo tv screen with a live feed of the kitchen counter and stove, so we smiled and walked through the door opening to the main dining room. It's cozy. A small wine room, kitchen, and about 7-10 tables. We chose to sit at "the kitchen" - a peninsula countertop that allows servers to come help guests while still being separated by another wall from the small kitchen...not to mention another jumbo tv you can watch with the live feed of the kitchen counter and stove just in case being that close to the kitchen didn't give you a good enough view or if you're seated at one of the tables and you want to see how the kitchen prepares your food, who is on their cell phone in the kitchen, or who recently cut themselves while slicing carrots. The restaurant has awkward paintings of people on the walls, I would assume of the owner and their family members. There is an opening to their other restaurant next door, Amici, which was busier than The Chef's Table on our evening there. We were their only guests from 6-7:30 when we left. We were seated and immediately handed a wine and a specialty drink menu, no food menu. When the waitress came back to take our drink orders she still didn't bring food menus or mention specials. That was her next trip. We finally looked at the menu and receive bread with 3 dips: garlic and oil (not a tasty oil and not enough seasoning), lavender and honey butter (overly floral, but the honey and smooth butter were nice), and a traditional pesto (the basil being as dark as it was had a slight bitter flavor, it was bruised with another poor choice of oils). The rolls we received were like those you would find at a hotel catering of a wedding. Nothing special. They could have at least made some scratch bread or had a local baker bake it for them. Sad. The menu was even worse. Dated, "traditional" dishes without any inspiration or flare. Apparently the claim to fame for them is that they offer "certified angus beef." The Caesar salad was overly vinegared, the filet with balsamic and onion with a potato cake was cooked right but lacked in flavor except for the over abundance of balsamic. The potato cake was more or less bread crumbs with some finally puréed potato baked to the size of Tollhouse cookie. The highlight was the lobster Mac n cheese for $17. Generous lumps of lobster, a good flavored sauce, and a good portion - could feed two or more. It was awkward sitting and watching a non busy kitchen. You see those who wear gloves but still touch everything with their gloves on anyway, hear those who have a congestion issue as they hack their mucus back, see the lack of enthusiasm the servers have as they come to chat with the kitchen staff while texting on their phones. I don't know who thought this was Michelin star worthy, maybe it was under a different chef at that time, but this was not that caliber at all! We will not be back, needless to say. A positive, the server and kitchen staff we spoke with were nice, but that doesn't make up for the uninspired, lack luster, and limited menu. read more

Went for drinks last night and the atmosphere was relaxing and the bartenders were fun and friendly. Really enjoyed my night out. Got the lobster Mac and Cheese, and it was heavenly. The bartender uses all fresh ingredients and really takes pride in his work. They make their own buffer and it is delicious as well. I can't wait for their patio to open, it is going to be amazing. This was disappointing for several reasons. 01) While the service started out spectacular, 3 women came in and caught the attention of our server and the service declined from there 02) The appetizers were excellent 03) The main course was disappointing. We had one steak that was perfect. We had another steak that was supposed to be medium and came out medium rare and the final steak was supposed to be medium rare and came out medium. 04) We mentioned that the steaks seemed to have been reversed for the way they were cooked, we were advised that they would re-cook them. We were very nice and advised them that we did not wish for that to happen. One of the steaks was more fat than meat. 05) The waiter did admit that the chef misread the order. That was commendable 06). I left over 1/2 of my steak and took it with me as my wife likes her meat well done and she would cook it tomorrow 07) The vegetables were a little to fu fu for us but that was not the restaurants fault 08) We had ask the waiter to fill our wine glasses and by the end of the meal, we poured it ourselves. That was unacceptable 09) The manager asked how everything was and we advised him and he said that he was sorry. 10) When we were ready to leave, the waiter was nowhere to be found nor was any other employee. Finally, I lassoed another waiter and advised him to please clear the table and get me a to go box and "get me a check so I could get out of here". 11) Our waiter finally came back and I told him the same thing. At that point, he gave us our check silently and we paid and left. 12) On the check, I wrote that this was disappointing and if they wanted to know why, I left my phone number. To no ones surprise, I never received a call. Finally, while my attention is to pay for everything I ordered, I was very surprised that my steak was not subtracted from the bill or any type of adjustment. It just shows that the money to some restaurants is more important than customer loyalty. Needless to say, I spent in excess of $330.00 for a very annoying evening and of course, I will not be returning ONLY due to the lack of a phone call from the management. read more

The Chefs out did themselves tonight!! This was a special 10 year anniversary dinner for us. Our server Marc did an outstanding explaining the night specials for us. We started with the special scallop appetizer, seared scallops on a avocado crema and topped with a bacon, shallot and orange marmalade. The scallops had a great sear, the avocado creama was delicious, and OMG the marmalade was outrageously great. I savored the scallop with a little of the marmalade in each bite. For our entrees we each selected a veal chop. My husband chose his all time favorite, the stuffed veal chop, with gorgonzola & pancetta and topped with pan fried mushrooms. I went with the special veal chop which was served on a bed of risotto with a andouille and topped with a blueberry sauce. Again, OMG, who would have thought. The blueberries added just a touch of sweetness and worked so well together. Mine may have fractionally been the better choice. We split a lemon chello cake for dessert that was light and yummy. Let me start by saying, the food was good. We went on Valentine's Day with reservations. When we got there, they ended up sitting us in the front bar area. Apparently the tables on either side of us were friends with the mgr/owner/cooks; their service was amazing. We saw our waiter a total of four times over 2-1/2 hours, unacceptable! It took 35 minutes to get a second round of drinks. My wife had the soup, and it was cool, not even warm. We couldn't send it back because our waiter/bartender never came over. I had a steak that was cooked perfectly, but the temperature was not satisfactory. The food was good, overpriced. The service...terrible. Sadly, we will not be back. read more

Just home from Valentines dinner at the Chef's Table. An offshoot of the Amici's restaurant/bakery/wine cellar row in Melbourne (Suntree), it is advertised as an NY style steak house. We have eaten at Amici's Italian restaurant several times since moving here from New York last year. Best Italian food we have found so far. Tonight, was the first time we tried the Chef's table. We started with an appetizer of U-10 Scallops over pureed sweet potato. The scallops were done perfectly, like butter. The roasted nut topping also was over the top. I am not a sweet potato fan, but the wife said they were outstanding. We followed that with a steak/lobster dinner for two. A 32 oz. Prime Long-bone Ribeye with two 8 oz Lobster tails. Lobsters were cooked perfectly with a browned butter dip. The steak was done correctly (medium to medium rare) and melted in your mouth. Not too much spice which I appreciated as the point of any prime steak is the steak. We accompanied that with a side of creamed spinach which was good but, in my opinion, a little under spiced (more garlic/salt needed). We finished with dessert of mascarpone stuffed ravioli and fruit compote. Excellent. Owners/managers stopped by several times to ask how our meal was As good as any NY Steak House we have eaten at (of course with NY prices). First time. Wanted to spend my birthday with family and I'm only here a few months a year. Had heard mixed reviews but figured a high end steakhouse would provide good service and food. I live in Denver and visit many high end steak houses for business and personal dinners. I made reservations and called to confirm. Walked in the restaurant and there was no hostess stand to be found. We walked through the bar. The chefs were cooking and one walked out and confronted a coworker complaining no one was greeting folks as they walked in. We were seated by a nice server and he apologized. Unfortunately we were served by another server who had the personality of a wet cloth. I had a question about the wine and he offered up a snarky Remark " I don't know the wine list by any means ". Well. Go figure. We are in a high end steakhouse and he said that out loud. Most professional servers have a pulse on the wine list. Basic question really. When I told him it was my birthday after we received our wine, which took 15 minutes, he offered a vanilla " happy birthday" .Food was a B. Service was a C. Place wasn't busy so not sure what the issue was. Any High end steakhouse will offer a signature birthday dessert. Not this guy. He couldn't care less and was more or less hoping we'd leave. While we tipped 20%...I'm inclined to tip more, often but he was a dud. Do better...I'll never go back and won't likely recommend. You can get great food better value near the beach.I gave it 3 because it may have been an off night but I'm reading several that make me think you have an issue. read more

It's not often that I'm overly impressed with a steakhouse in Brevard County but after dining at Chef's Table last night I officially have a new favorite restaurant to have a great steak. The experience was fantastic. It was literally like walking into the owners home and watching him help prepare the food and socialize with his guests. I'm not kidding everyone who walked in he personally greeted with either a firm handshake or a warm hug for the women. Our server Ashley was fantastic and the chef Paul even came out to make sure our food was prepared to our liking. One of the coolest features is they installed a large television with cameras at different angles in the kitchen and you can literally watch them prepare and plate your food. Very very cool feature. Fantastic selection of prime steaks and a wonderful wine cellar to pick a nice bottle to accompany the meal. I really can't say enough about this place but I do know this I can't wait to return. read more

The food was just ok. We enjoy fine dining but this was not it. The food and service did not match the price tag. Lastly, my son asked our server if he could have rice instead of risotto. The could hear the whole open kitchen talking about it and when the chef came to our table, he stated my son should order chicken nuggets. Our kids, seven year old triplets, have been to amazing restaurants multiple times a week since they were two months old. We will not be back. This is not what fine dining looks like. read more

Enjoyed sitting at the bar last evening. The martini 's were some of the best I've had. We decided to eat at the bar and enjoyed three apps-bacon wrapped scallops, filet sliders and candied pasta. All had a great presentation. The scallops and filets were fantastic however the candied pasta was a bit bland and needed for flavor. There were two bartenders working. The service was good once the bar started to thin out however when we first arrived, we had to wait over 10 minutes to get served. This was mainly due to a large party of six that was in the corner of the bar that consumed one of the bartenders time. Though that was the case it we were there to enjoy a relaxing evening and definitely did. We will definitely be back. read more

AWESOME ! A friend and I dined there Friday Evening. We had a night to Celebrate, and were hoping to find the best food in Melbourne, Fl. Each of us drove about 40 Miles. IT WAS WORTH IT ! Me from Orlando, and her from the beach. We were blown away how fantastic the food is. Chef /Owner Cooks, takes amazing pride in his work. Creative, Innovative. Friend had the Wrapped Motz Starter and Filet for main - both off the CHART! I had the Tuna Tartare - Loved it, my date doesn't like seafood and she loved it as well - great take on Smoked Salmon, with Tuna. The Prawns and Crab was awesome. Glad we made a reservation, as the place fill's up. Dinner was so good I left a 60% tip. We will make the drive from Orlando again, and bring friends next time. Well Done Chef! Fantastic! You need reservations though. I did not know that but they did have room in the bar area. Unfortunately I have no pictures from dinner. the mozzarella wrapped in Prosciutto was excellent. I had the crab stuffed prawns that came with green beans. My man had the 10 oz filet seasoned to perfection. The lobster Mac and cheese pricy but there were chucks of lobster and hands down best Mac I've had. I hate homemade Mac and cheese but the bf loves it so I'll try some and this one was magnificent!! Au gratin potatoes, well needed a little more salt perhaps. Dessert was to go because we were so full. We got the tiramisu. Super good. If we come back this way ever it will be a regular stop. An amazing hidden gem. We had the mozzarella wrapped in prosciutto, delicious. The special brown sugar glazed pork chop and the filet mignon with the lobster Mac n cheese. I like Chef's Table and go there often. The lounge atmosphere is perfect for privacy, the bartender is topnotch, and you can't beat the au gratin potatoes. That said, I am quite dismayed that Chef's Table charges a corkage fee for wine that is purchased from their own wine shop next door! Recently, a friend and I stopped at the wine shop first, and were delighted with the server's knowledge and recommendation. She went above and beyond, letting us know that we could bring our opened bottle next door to the Chef's Table and then making sure there was a table reserved for us in the lounge area. To our surprise, the bartender advised us of a $10 corkage fee for the opened bottle of wine we brought over. C'mon ... both places (as well as Amici's, on the other side of Chef's Table) are owned by the same person. Good will should dictate that a customer who purchases and drinks a glass from a bottle of wine in the Wine Shop should be able to enjoy the rest of the bottle with his or her dinner next door at no extra cost. My husband and I have been going to Amici's (David's adjoining Italian restaurant) for years. Not only do we enjoy the food but David and his wife Tina make you feel as if you are walking into their home for dinner. We were very excited to try his new concept of a Specialty Steakhouse next door. It is fabulous. David really gets to show off his culinary skills. You are able to watch him and his team in action while preparing your food. We have eaten at all the popular steak houses; Shula's, Capital Grill, etc. Well,we can assure you that The Chefs Table can proudly hang with the rest of them. Our filets were cooked to perfection and the tuna tartar appetizer is to die for. David we are so proud of you and can't wait for our next meal there! read more

We were a group of six last nite, with a reservation for 7:30. Two of us arrived at 6:30 for drinks in the bar, and the other four arrived at 7:00. We were never seated until almost 8:30, and although drinks and bread were served, our entrees did not arrive until 10:00!! One guest ordered lamb chops "pink" and they were delivered rare, if not raw. At this late hour, he declined having them recooked or selecting another entree. Since we moved to Viera, this has been our absolute favorite restaurant. They serve great quality prime steaks. Their New York Strip is absolutely awesome, possibly the best I've ever had. It's cooked exactly to my requested temperature every time. The lobster tail was also cooked to perfection, and had just the right "sweetness". Also, excellent bartender. Never actually sat at the bar, but I've consumed many of his libations at the dinner table. Service is always five star, presented with a great personality. Interior is nice and intimate, with a full view into the kitchen. A big screen displays video images of the grill and prep areas, so you can watch your meal being prepared if you wish. If I recall correctly, I think there are only 6 or seven tables in the dining room. If I could give one recommendation, it would be to stock mint jelly for the lamb chops. The Chef's table is under the same owner as Amici's, which is next door and interconnected. So, if you can't get a able at one, go next door to the other! read more

I haven't been back in a few years as business travels have led me elsewhere but when I found our I was coming back to Melbourne all I could think of was The Chef's Table. Wow. Things have changed. I went on a Saturday night and sat at the bar. It wasn't extremely busy but it got busier as the night wore on. So busy, in fact, that my food took over an hour to reach me. I got the filet and it was terrible. Unseasoned and over cooked. It went back, and the next one I got (30 min later) was raw. I ate the corners and left the rest to be trashed. They have aqn open kitchen, and when I went to the restroom, it looked like a bomb had dropped on it. Multiple guys with the thousand yard stare and a guy on the grill so sweaty it was surprising to me that my steak wasnt too salty. It was obvious they had no idea what was going on. I was told he was the chef now and the former guy had been gone for a while. Shame. Wish I knew where he went so I could get a steak made properly. The new guy (or new to me) had no control over that kitchen and I can't believe they let a guy that disheveled run a place so nice. NO management came to me, I paid for a full bill and a disgusting steak that I didn't eat. If I ever come back to melbourne, I'll stick with Outback. read more

Had an excellent evening thanks to the Chef's Table. Had no idea what to expect, walking into an odd little side room off an Italian restaurant. Was able to get reservations for a Friday night one day in advance, which always makes me wonder a little bit about just how good a place will be. You walk into a dim bar area and then there's no real hostess station, you stand in the door and wait for someone to acknowledge you. It's a tiny space with few tables but a nice view of the open kitchen. I was worried it would be noisy and crowded, but I didn't feel cramped and didn't have any trouble hearing my dining companions. We started with drinks and appetizers (the carpaccio was delicious, as was the bread.. the cheese special was meh) I lucked into a Waygu beef special for the night and loved every single bite. My friends had filets, one made Oscar style. Shared lobster mac&cheese with creamed spinach. Those two sides were plenty for 4 people. Dessert options were offered but nothing jumped out enough to make us find room in full stomachs. We settled for dessert coffees and were able to linger at the table enjoying those without feeling rushed. I was pleasantly surprised by what I thought was a reasonable bill for a really nice night out. read more
