Vics is another gem in Sebastian, I've been here for 45 years, I know the area better than you. This Yellow Dog "Sample size" Cafe charges a fortune to put your life at risk with ignorant kitchen staff, how can you justify staying open? The country should shut you down! The decor manipulated their decision most likely. I'll look into it, I promise. People only go to this riverfront dive because they're pretentious, not because they expect good food and a drink. I really should have read the reviews and taken the poor 1 star as a big red flag to avoid this place. My date ordered an unrecognizable goo, and she wouldn't touch it. Thawing commercially processed Reduced Oxygen Packaging (ROP) or vacuum-sealed fish in its packaging is highly dangerous. The lack of oxygen combined with improper temperatures creates a perfect environment for Clostridium botulinum to grow and produce deadly toxins. You're charging customers to end up in the ER as a dining experience here. Look for the screenshots. Edit: added more inspection results from 2024 and 2025, you get busted every single time. Beautiful restaurant with 3 separate eating areas. There's A very convenient Valet who will park your vehicle on site which is very limited or across the highway. Definitely upscale with white linens and attentive staff. Not rushed service. Didn't try any apps or desserts but they looked excellent. Everything is made on site such as their pasta and tater tots which are the best I've ever experienced. Food is fresh and there are several gluten free options. Nice amount of food but don't expect to take home leftovers. Had a capaccino after dinner which was very good. . Came with a dark chocolate on the stirer, nice touch. You can easily access their deck and enjoy the water or gaze out from your table. Everything is very well thought out and the owners are on site daily. While it could have had more conch in it, it had a delicious pepper flavor and the dough itself was light. I had the scalloped potato salmon, which was really good: perfectly moist in the center with crunchy potato on top of a delicious saffron lobster stock risotto. My wife loved her tuna poke bowl. This is an elegant restaurant although it being Florida you do not have to dress up. White table clothes and very attentive service. View is spectacular. Finally found a lovely and elegant place for special occasions. We much prefer this intimate dining experience to The Brevardian, let's say. Very romantic and pretty window views, and even though on our visit they were quite busy, we were still able to have a peaceful and relaxing meal. The conch fritters are a MUST and we also loved the bread pudding. Our mojitos were a bit light on the alcohol and not as sweet as what I prefer. Maybe some day The Yellow Dog Cafe will be a place I could afford to eat more than once or twice a year, but I'm happy to have found it for now and feel it's worth it to treat yourself every now and then. read more

we have had a couple of good experiences in the past but this last time has finished us from going there again. We were greeted by the young waiter with "what can I do for you two" At these prices we would have expected a lot more than that. He asked for our order and took mine first and not my wife's, then proceeded to bring my starter out about 5 minutes before hers. This was quickly followed by an over cooked NY Strip steak for myself and a dry trout for my wife. Now I may be wrong but when half of a main course is returned I would start to ask questions. The waiter also passed our empty glasses 4 times before I pulled him up and told him that. No apologies, no reactions apart from walking away. Came for the tea party. Made reservations for 4 ahead of time. Sat downstairs facing the water. Always a pretty view but it was very warm inside. We selected our tea from The VERY limited selection. The water wasn't nearly hot enough. The beginning course was a scone. It was large and very dry. The accompanying jam, lemon curd etc was such a tiny amount we thought each of us would be getting one. Nope. We had to flag down the wait staff to get additional teas and the rubbish from the 4 of us piled up on the table and just sat there. We ordered cocktails which were average and weren't close to being cold. When the remainder of the food came it all looked like prefrozen not homemade items and honestly were such a disappointment. The wait staff was super slow the whole time. When we got the checks the tip was automatically added at 22%, for what?? For $86 each, I could have had a prime cut steak somewhere with better food and service. read more

The duck was good but did not like the schnitzel.The salmon was just ok. We got there as soon as the menu was changing over to dinner. The lunch menu looks really good so I think we will try it again during lunchtime in the near future. My husband and I ventured up to the Malabar area for one reason... lunch at Yellow Dog. I see some mixed reviews, but our lunch experience on the Friday before Easter weekend was perfect First off, I must start with the valets. This restaurant only has valet parking, which I was nervous about... you just never know if you're going to get a good valet experience. These gentlemen were stellar! Best valet of all time- he greeted us, opened our doors, opened the door to the restaurant for us, and made conversation. So nice! We sat downstairs on their indoor patio - floor to ceiling windows made the view even more fabulous - it was a beautiful day and this place is right in the water! We were greeted by our lovely server, Becca. She is fabulous- sweet, professional, and efficient. She never rushed us, and made our dining experience even better! During lunch, they have a regular menu and a dinner for lunch menu. The dinner for lunch menu is a three course lunch for $39. My husband ordered the fried shrimp entrée, and he loved the huge jumbo shrimp that were lightly and perfectly fried. He said it was the best cocktail sauce he's ever had! I ordered the dinner for lunch, and as my appetizer I chose their house made pierogies. I shared these with my husband, and we both enjoyed them. For my main entrée, I got there baked cod. It was a delicious dish, and the fish was very fresh. For dessert, I chose the coconut cream pie, and I was blown away at generous of a portion it was! The pie was very tasty! Another great touch is that the owner walks around to every table to make conversation and ask how everything is. After we paid our bill and left, we had another interaction with the valet. They opened the door for us to exit the restaurant, made conversation about what we had eaten and what our favorite dishes from lunch were... we learned that they were locals from Melbourne, Florida and we shared that we were lifelong Floridians! I met some nieces here for lunch and it was a really great choice! The menu offers some unique takes on standard fare and does not disappoint! I got the Bird Dog, which is not just a turkey sandwich with melted Brie but has sliced green apple, tomato, chopped walnuts and cranberry jam .... I enjoyed it! The other diners at my table all enjoyed their meals as well ... 2 folks got two different burgers with homemade potate chips and 1 got the filet mignon (which was done to perfection) . A warm brownie in the shape of a dog bone and accompanied by whipped cream and vanilla ice cream topped off the meal for the 2 younger members of our group. Lots of yummy sounds were made! Our server was a young man named Tyler and he was super - attentive, professional and prompt ! Experience: I came on a Wednesday evening at 6:30 with a group of 12. This is my first time coming to this restaurant. Facility: the restaurant was nice... there was a small parking lot, but they have valet, so no issues. There was seating upstairs and downstairs. Our group was downstairs. They were table and chairs with no arms. The bathroom was clean and comfortable, but the towel holder is loose and fell down when you try to get a towel. Also, the restaurant sits right on the river and has a beautiful view. Service: our waiter was great... he was able to keep up with our big high maintenance table of 10 middle aged women. Food: we came for the 3 courses for $39 deal. The selection were many and good enough that it made it very hard to narrow down and choose. I ended up getting the mushroom pate, beef tips and coconut cream pie. I did not care for the pate very much. It had a slight sweetness to it that turned me off. The beef tips were so good. It was served with yummy mashed potatoes and crispy green beans. The tips were served in a savory rich mushroom gravy. I loved everything about this plate. And lastly the coconut cream pie was amazing!!! It was lighter than another other coconut cream pie I've had, which made me love it more since I'm not a fan of very sweet food. Ambience: overall decor is dated, ugly carpeting on the stairs, dark paneling .... I get the "cozy" look they want but truly this restaurant needs a freshened look! We requested to sit on the upper deck/porch and had a lovely view of the river through dirty windows. Man, clean the window every day before service starts. The nearby bus stations ruined the ambience as the waitstaff literally threw dishes in the bins vs gently placing them in. The noise made us jump several times. Appetizer: homemade potato chips and blue cheese sauce was excellent. Large enough to share. Entree: we both ordered filet mignon medium rare. Mine came out medium. Waiter offered to make me another and I declined. The beef was not a thick cut, so that's why it may have overcooked. I prefer a 2 inch thickness and this was maybe 1 inch at best. Dessert was offered free because my steak wasn't done properly so I had the coconut cream pie. The description said the shell was a macaroon but it was more of a pie crust. Delicious as was my husband's bread pudding. Service was great. Maybe next time stay as plates are served so waiter can see if the steak is done properly. So this experience fell short a bit. Our waitress; Shalli, was the most seasoned and amazing host! From daily recommendations, to refreshing and delicious drinks she made herself, to one of the best services I have had in years. She is a game changer and what everyone should strive to be in the industry. The sangria was strong but perfectly blended with fresh fruits and a spectacular presentation. When it came to the table, it was followed by "ooohs" and "ahhhs"! The bread service came with many types of bread and a delicious whipped butter. Super creamy and the bread was fresh and smelled like it just came from the oven. For appetizers we tried the Caesar salad, chips with cheese sauce and the best Crab Bisque soup! Everything was perfection. Crispy, creamy and with so much depth of flavor! For entrées, we tried the onion crusted chicken over mashed potatoes with seasoned vegetables and mahi-mahi over rice. The Mahi Mahi was not the star, but still very tasty. The star was the onion crusted chicken and it blew us away! Two large, juicy chicken breasts with the most delicious crust, creamy well seasoned mashed potatoes, and perfectly cooked vegetables with a sweet glaze that I will dream of having again and again. Yellow Dog has been "our place" for years. It's where I proposed to my wife, and it's the first place we think of for every big milestone in our lives. We've always loved it here, which is why it's so incredibly hard to write this, but our Valentine's Day dinner was a total disaster. We walked in expecting the upscale experience we've grown to love, but instead, we spent nearly three hours sitting at a table feeling ignored. It started with a 45-minute wait just to get our first round of drinks. When the food finally started moving, the service was just bizarre. There were only two of us, yet our server couldn't remember who ordered what. At one point, she actually started questioning my wife about her order--mind you, this was a specific, pre-set Valentine's menu where the options were literally written right in front of us. It felt like the staff was either totally untrained or just didn't care, neither of which you expect when you're paying these kinds of prices. I didn't say anything in the moment because, honestly, who wants to start a confrontation or "ask for the manager" in the middle of a romantic Valentine's date? I didn't want to make a scene; I just wanted to enjoy my wife's company. I thought the right move was to call the next day and let management know privately that things had gone off the rails. I was shocked when the response I got was basically, "Well, you should have said something then." That dismissive attitude was honestly worse than the slow service. To be told that it was my responsibility to fix their service issues while I'm trying to have dinner is insulting, especially as a long-time customer. It's heartbreaking that a place with so much sentimental value to us treated us like we were a nuisance for pointing out a bad experience. I tried the homemade chips w Gorgonzola, I didn't think I'd like it...totally wrong tho the homemade chips were so perfect, best I ever had from places and the cheese dip was delish! Entre I had was cod with havarti cheese with rice and Swiss chard, incredible!! We shared desserts I had the brownie which was chocolatey came with vanilla ice cream really decadent! The coconut cream pie dessert was amazing, it's like a personal pie, crust was crisp and perfect the coconut cream was dreamy. I have to go back!! Ambiance: These guys are next level with several seating areas all with their charm and appeal. My personal favorite is the lower level, tall glass doors that open to the river. Food: Delicious. Consistent. Flair. Everything is good, try something you'd never make yourself. Seafood is FRESH FRESH! Lots and lots of Gluten Free Entree options. Service: I've eaten here about nearly 10x since we moved here. It's my favorite restaurant. I've only had one service experience that was mediocre, meaning no connection with the server. I've had John 2x as our server and he was excellent, friendly, attentive, yet not intrusive. Helpful with menu questions, will ask for him next time to make the whole experience always a 10/10!
