    Conch Fritters

Intimate dinner setting looking over the ocean. Excellent service, menu, and food. The restaurant is a great choice for a family outing or romantic date night. The conch fritter was excellent. While it could have had more conch in it, it had a delicious pepper flavor and the dough itself was light. I had the scalloped potato salmon, which was really good: perfectly moist in the center with crunchy potato on top of a delicious saffron lobster stock risotto. My wife loved her tuna poke bowl. This is an elegant restaurant although it being Florida you do not have to dress up. White table clothes and very attentive service. View is spectacular. Reserve for table 11 if you want a really stunning spot.

Finally found a lovely and elegant place for special occasions. We much prefer this intimate dining experience to The Brevardian, let's say. Very romantic and pretty window views, and even though on our visit they were quite busy, we were still able to have a peaceful and relaxing meal. The conch fritters are a MUST and we also loved the bread pudding. Our mojitos were a bit light on the alcohol and not as sweet as what I prefer. Maybe some day The Yellow Dog Cafe will be a place I could afford to eat more than once or twice a year, but I'm happy to have found it for now and feel it's worth it to treat yourself every now and then.

At first glance, this place looks like another little dive on the side of the road, however this restaurant is absolutely gorgeous inside!! the service was excellent. The food was extremely delicious and I would highly recommend you stop in here on your way through Grant,Florida

New to the area and heard a lot about this place and wanted to try it out. We really enjoyed the appetizers, especially the conch fritters. The duck was good but did not like the schnitzel. The salmon was just ok. We got there as soon as the menu was changing over to dinner. The lunch menu looks really good so I think we will try it again during lunchtime in the near future. Our waitress was really great and the atmosphere was also really nice with a really nice view.

Dined here for work party. Beautiful setting by the water. Place is larger than I expected. Great service. Good food.

Ambience: overall decor is dated, ugly carpeting on the stairs, dark paneling .... I get the "cozy" look they want but truly this restaurant needs a freshened look! We requested to sit on the upper deck/porch and had a lovely view of the river through dirty windows. Man, clean the window every day before service starts. The nearby bus stations ruined the ambience as the waitstaff literally threw dishes in the bins vs gently placing them in. The noise made us jump several times. Appetizer: homemade potato chips and blue cheese sauce was excellent. Large enough to share. Entree: we both ordered filet mignon medium rare. Mine came out medium. Waiter offered to make me another and I declined. The beef was not a thick cut, so that's why it may have overcooked. I prefer a 2 inch thickness and this was maybe 1 inch at best. Dessert was offered free because my steak wasn't done properly so I had the coconut cream pie. The description said the shell was a macaroon but it was more of a pie crust. Delicious as was my husband's bread pudding. Service was great. Maybe next time stay as plates are served so waiter can see if the steak is done properly. So this experience fell short a bit. Paying $350 one would expect perfection on every level. For us it did not.

My husband and I ventured up to the Malabar area for one reason... lunch at Yellow Dog. I see some mixed reviews, but our lunch experience on the Friday before Easter weekend was perfect First off, I must start with the valets. This restaurant only has valet parking, which I was nervous about... you just never know if you're going to get a good valet experience. These gentlemen were stellar! Best valet of all time- he greeted us, opened our doors, opened the door to the restaurant for us, and made conversation. So nice! We sat downstairs on their indoor patio - floor to ceiling windows made the view even more fabulous - it was a beautiful day and this place is right in the water! We were greeted by our lovely server, Becca. She is fabulous- sweet, professional, and efficient. She never rushed us, and made our dining experience even better! During lunch, they have a regular menu and a dinner for lunch menu. The dinner for lunch menu is a three course lunch for $39. My husband ordered the fried shrimp entrée, and he loved the huge jumbo shrimp that were lightly and perfectly fried. He said it was the best cocktail sauce he's ever had! I ordered the dinner for lunch, and as my appetizer I chose their house made pierogies. I shared these with my husband, and we both enjoyed them. For my main entrée, I got there baked cod. It was a delicious dish, and the fish was very fresh. For dessert, I chose the coconut cream pie, and I was blown away at generous of a portion it was! The pie was very tasty! Another great touch is that the owner walks around to every table to make conversation and ask how everything is. After we paid our bill and left, we had another interaction with the valet. They opened the door for us to exit the restaurant, made conversation about what we had eaten and what our favorite dishes from lunch were... we learned that they were locals from Melbourne, Florida and we shared that we were lifelong Floridians! Such sweet guys... cannot emphasize that enough!

We were guests at a reception here. Truly wonderful experience. Food, service, setting. The weather was perfect which made the openness facing the water just spectacular. Lots of stairs but otherwise you can't NOT picture an event here. Well done YDC.

    Escargot appetizer.

The service made the evening! We had a party of 6 and relied heavily on our waitress' explanations and suggestions. She was always there when we needed her, but never intrusive. The food was good as well. Hard to believe that we had a hard time choosing which salad to have since all were inventive and featured their home grown lettuce and vegetables. I've always liked the "feel" of the restaurant inside. It's cozy.

I met some nieces here for lunch and it was a really great choice! The menu offers some unique takes on standard fare and does not disappoint! I got the Bird Dog, which is not just a turkey sandwich with melted Brie but has sliced green apple, tomato, chopped walnuts and cranberry jam .... I enjoyed it! The other diners at my table all enjoyed their meals as well ... 2 folks got two different burgers with homemade potate chips and 1 got the filet mignon (which was done to perfection) . A warm brownie in the shape of a dog bone and accompanied by whipped cream and vanilla ice cream topped off the meal for the 2 younger members of our group. Lots of yummy sounds were made! Our server was a young man named Tyler and he was super - attentive, professional and prompt ! We dined in a lovely little room overlooking the waterway and at the end of our meal we even saw a dolphin out by the dock, that is always a treat! Highly recommend this little Jewel!

What a lovely restaurant. Quaint. Cozy. Waitor was amazing. Beautiful view. We started with the Crab Bisque. Delicious. Zach - our server brought out fresh warm focaccia and bread with butter. We then shared the Fish and Puffs. A must! Crispy large portions of cod and the Puffs - yum! They were little croquettes of mashed potatoes. Heavenly. A suggestion- serve those with a smear of sour cream & chives. Would be even better. We'll be back hopefully to try their Dinner Special. Looked fabulous. I'm bummed I forgot to take pictures of the Fish and Puffs. Thank you Zach for your excellent service.

We arrive on time for our reservation. We are greeted, if that's what you want to call it, by a tall older man. I swear he looked at us like, can you really afford to eat here? So the initial interaction was rather poor. I like to give people the benefit of the doubt, so maybe he just had a bad day. Yeah, apparently not. The place is very pretty and certainly airs of a higher end establishment. After Mr. Snooty took us to our table, we were greeted by, ready for this, and even more snooty lady. Think Mrs. Howell. It's kind of like going on a date with a psychiatrist, knowing that they are judging every word that's coming out of your mouth. Lol. So after getting a lay of the land from her, we ordered some drinks, which were fantastic. Then the first course came and it was fabulous. We had the escargot and the oysters Rockefeller. Yum. The Escargot was buttery and soft. The oysters were well seasoned and perfectly cooked. We tried a lobster bisque and it was so so good. The touch of sherry was perfect. As for the Caesar's salad, this was the star of the evening. It was one of the best I've had and is what a Caesar salad should taste like. I am seriously considering going back there just for that salad. For dinner my wife had a lobster tail. She reports it was excellent. The snooty lady wanted me to try some special they had, but I went for the lamb chops. Again, perfect, medium rare. Winner. Snooty lady went uber obnoxious snooty after I didn't pick her choice. I was scared for the rest of the night. Overall price to food value, negative 100 billion. Food was fantastic. $250 for the portion sizes not worth it. Then again, even if they were bigger, not worth the price. Like I said, go for the salad and pass on the rest. Make you car payment and go to a more reasonably priced place that won't treat you like you need to have a credit report or occupation that they might approve of. Oh and they had some nice live music. That was good. Too bad, the staff put a damper on the birthday dinner.

The entire experience was substandard with one exception; the cocktails were superb. But that's…read morewhere it ended. First, our server Michael was the least skilled of any I have been in contact with over my 69 years. He showed no interest in us, had no personality, acted indifferent, and was borderline rude. He constantly reached in front of me without the courtesy of "excuse me". He didn't bother to come back to the table after serving our entree and inquire how the food was. For that matter, we never saw a manager the 2.5 hours we were there. Second, while the appetizers came in a reasonable time, the entrees took over 45 minutes to arrive. Michael apologized once and said they were plating our dishes only to return 15 minutes later. This was likely not his fault but D'Jon's had an opportunity to make it right with us but did nothing. I had had to tell Michael a second time that "this wait wasn't working for me". Third, I don't mind paying a premium price when receiving value. That is not available at this establishment. The portion size of the Tomato Salad was laughable. As was our search to find the Salmon in the seafood pasta evening special. Typically we give a business a second chance knowing that everyone has a bad day. With everything that went wrong, we will not return. The service, the food, and the wait were a complete let-down.

The fatty portion of my Prime Rib was excessive. I get that ribeye-style cuts derive flavor from fat, but this was to the point where it overwhelmed the dish and left me wishing I had ordered the lower-cost ribeye instead. On top of that, it came out medium instead of medium-rare, which didn't help. That said, others at the table ordered the NY Strip and Ribeye, and both looked excellent--cooked properly and more in line with what I'd expect from a steakhouse at this level. Highlights of the meal: Brazilian sliders were fantastic--definitely a must-order appetizer Oxtail stroganoff was rich and well executed Mac & cheese was a solid side Cocktails were creative and well made Overall, I've had better steaks at lower price points, but also worse ones at higher-end spots. Based on what I saw from other dishes, I'd absolutely give Ember & Oak another shot--just not with the Prime Rib next time.
