a dessert in a plastic container
Denise W.

This bar and lounge is located inside Westin Harbour Hotel on the first floor. I came here to grab dessert. The place is somewhat busy especially where there are things happening in the area. Such as conference or a big event etc. I ordered the Brooklyn Cheesecake to go. The presentation was really nice. It tasted good. Nothing special. I feel like people go to this bar/lounge for the atmosphere.

The current summer

Came to the bar to enjoy a drink, Gustavo gave us excellent service with a smile. I ordered "The Current Summer" and my man got a "Make it Red" both suggestions from Gustavo and we weren't disappointed. Thank you for such great service, he made our stay that much more better.

This restaurant is located in the lobby of the Westin Harbour Castle Hotel in downtown Toronto. We stayed at the hotel so this was convenient for dinner after a long day of sightseeing. We came around 8pm on a Friday. Note: you can seat yourself. It would have been nice if the server who saw us standing and waiting, stood right next to us and didn't acknowledge us, greet us, let alone inform us we could seat ourselves, had been professional. Nevertheless we tracked someone down and the rest of our experience was great! The restaurant is open so you can see the lobby. Clearly a waiting spot for folks leaving for the airport or meeting up with friends for a pre-event drink/appetizer. Pretty spacious with a variety of seating options. Rafael did a good job of attending to the area we were in. Once we chose a seat he approached us immediately to take drink orders. The menu had a good variety of options without being overwhelming. I was excited by the vegan and seafood options. I had the vegan empanadas for my meal even though it was an appetizer. Really good, even my meat eating husband liked them, filled with sweet potato and corn and a dipping sauce. My husband enjoyed the smoked bbq beef which was extremely tender. He couldn't decide on the wings but wanted to try them so we got an order of salt and pepper wings. Man. I don't eat meat often but this was totally worth it. I tried one and it was so moist inside but nice and crispy on the outside and the flavor...wow! We finished up with a slice of cheesecake to share which Rafael encouraged us to take to our room, plate and all. We charged the meal to our room. Pricey, our bill was $137. (Note: we also had two alcoholic drinks) Overall, nice ambiance, good food. Rafael was attentive, friendly and professional. Especially considering the table next to us was rude and inconsiderate. He handled it beautifully. I'm giving 4 stars because of the staff person who lacked any customer service skills.

Mushroom soup

Located in the lobby of Westin HARBOUR castle hotel. We tried their eating well menu and loved it! The mushroom soup was creamy and tasty. The poke bowl was fresh and light. Our favor was heritage green salad. We also love the option of half plate that is good for portion control. The servers were nice and friendly. We were glad we tried it.

"Lobster bisque" was returned to the kitchen. Horrid

No!!! Do not go here. There are WAY too many great places to eat around it. I never send food back - but did here. The "lobster bisque" wasn't even close to a bisque and had zero pieces of lobster. It was a the consistency of stock and almost tasted reconstituted. Horrible. They replaced with the black bean soup which was a better consistency and had beans, but was devoid of flavor. The service was non-existent. I even got up, walked and grabbed the water pitcher, carried it back to our table and filled our glasses after both the server and runner had been to the table. The server never even noticed!! I set the pitcher on the counter next to us and continued to fill our own glasses. The burger was ok at best. The summer squash carbonara was edible, but way heavy on garlic. The chips had parmesan shavings, but that was it as far as flavor. One glass of wine brought the bill to $93! Lesson learned and we won't be dining in-house for the rest of our stay.

Toronto Review 4/Many: I went to this excellent Lanzhou spot with another person as one of my…read moreearlier meals. Our server, Sophia, was bubbly and friendly, giving suggestions and helping with the ordering process for the other person who wasn't as sure what they wanted. We eventually went with two appetizers and two entrees, which was more than enough food, and honestly, we could have only ordered one appetizer. The better of the two appetizers was the CAD 8.95 Hand Shredded Pepper Chicken/手撕椒麻雞/Shou Si Ji. The dish consists of cold chicken in a flavorful sauce, topped with some greens. The chicken was tender, with a mild, pleasant spice and a bit of numbingness from the Sichuan peppercorns, along with some fragrance, presumably from sesame oil. It reminded me a bit of salivating chicken you find in some Szechuan spots, but it was more aromatic and a bit less spicy. The other appetizer was the Steamed Edamame/岩鹽毛豆 with Himalayan pink salt for CAD 5.95. The other person chose between this and the vegetable dumplings, as he avoids pork, and it was, of course, lighter than the other appetizer. The decent portion of edamame was topped with some pickled carrots as a garnish. My main dish was the Braised Beef Noodles/紅燒牛肉面/Hong Shao Niu Rou Mian. The dish included several options, including size, noodle style, and spice level. I chose the large for CAD $20.95, medium spice, and for the noodle style, I chose flat/宽面, as it was closest to the prism style I like at Lanzhou spots in the States. Along with these, I also added a tea egg for an extra CAD 2.95. Outside the add-on, the dish also had a couple of large slices of radish. Compared to some spots in NYC, I slightly preferred the QQ/bouncy texture of the noodles at a spot near me. However, the broth was better here with a balanced amount of mala, though I would likely order spicy next time, as I tend to add chili oil to the relatively lighter Lanzhou broths. The beef was also much better, being tender with a mild chew regardless of whether it was tendon or other cuts. The tea egg was flavorful and worth the add-on, especially when the inside was dipped further into the broth. I can see why others order this. The other person went with the Signature Stir-fried Noodles/招牌炒面/Chao Tatiaozi. There was an option of protein, and he went with Chicken for $17.95 and added the same egg. I tried a bit, and there was a pleasant pepperiness with a bit of numbing flavor, but less than my dish. The noodles had a good bounciness and overall had a slightly better chewiness than mine. This was lighter overall, but also tasty. This spot has apparently come to the US already at the Mall of America, and I would love it if there were a location closer to me. Good place.

The other noodle dishes I've tried from here have been consistently good as well. They let you select what noodle thickness you like, and I think the thick flat noodles were too big for me, I was making a fool out of myself trying to slurp them all up ! I recommend getting medium ones so sauce doesn't splash all over you like what happened to me! A great, affordable meal option.

They pride in using fresh and local ingredients served creatively, and always with new ideas and dishes with the tasting menu changing constantly to match what's in season. Some of the dishes really emphasized the freshness and the quality of the ingredients, showcased in our starting dish of asparagus, egg confit, cure pork and leeks. The salt was minimal, and it tasted so clean, fresh, and well put together. Paneer with makhni was also included playing heavily on the delicious Indian flavors that were so full of umami taste, I could not believe this dish did not have meat. The chicken was one of my favorites with a smoked butter sauce. I could not believe white meat could be this tender and moist and absorb flavor so well. The fish was also great, as was the dessert, a rhubarb tiramisu to give a tangy contrast to the mascarpone cream. This was tasting menu #248, and the menu will change about every 2 weeks it seems like, which is amazing. Finally, I loved that explicitly state that tips are not accepted despite the amazing service and elevated food. I definitely would want to come back again, knowing there's a lot more creative ideas to try in different dishes while having a very solid cooking foundation.

We noticed a party of 4 that arrived after us who was also waiting were offered drinks due to the wait time while we weren't. We did get sat a couple minutes before them but since they had been asked their drink orders prior to being seated, they were attended to much quicker than us. We didn't receive our drinks until 30 minutes after being seated during which we received the salad we ordered. The duck was great but I wasn't a fan of the pasta I ordered as it more on the salty side. I would have to say my favorite dish was the Brussel sprout salad - super fresh and tasty. I did like that they had non alcoholic wine options. Disappointed that this was the experience I had coming here on our anniversary. The staff the served us was very friendly, but I wouldn't recommend coming here for a special occasion.

We've never had British food, so this was definitely a unique experience. The ambiance was very mysterious, with the dim lighting and wooden decor. I thought it was very nice for dates specifically, and the little candle on the tables was a nice touch. They had a few booth seats and regular seats. We ordered a steak pie, along with a tofu and eggplant Thai curry. They were both very delicious and filling. The Thai curry was bursting with spices and flavours that I haven't experienced in any other dish, and I loved it. The steak pie was not my order, but from what I was told, it was very stuffed, included various textures and was full of flavour. Them, we got an aperol spritz and beer. The aperol was very delicious, and i'm super glad since this is only my second time trying one so I was nervous i'd be let down. It had a very orange, tangy twist. The beer came in a really fun looking cup, so that gave us a good laugh. The service was great, our waitress was very kind and answered and questions we had about the food. But after a long day and an even busier evening, I got back to the hotel famished. My brain was incapable of processing decisions and when I saw how busy this corner of the Sheraton was, I decided this was it. I grabbed a seat at the bar, ordered a drink, and listened to a podcast to wind down. It was exactly what I needed. The drink, Nutty Times, was not only delicious but the presentation was exciting too. The bartender was witty, he advised everyone near us at the bar to whip out our phones, because he was about to put on a show. Check out the video I added! After a while, my anxiety from the day began to wear off and it was time to eat. I asked if I was able to take it up to my room as a to-go order and they said that was no-go. Something about the presentation and how you had to be there for it. I don't know about that. I ordered the Atlantic salt cod (fried cod balls) and while they were super good, the presentation left me thinking, "I could have totally eaten this in my giant robe in bed." Regardless, I enjoyed every bite. I did end up getting approval to take my dessert to-go. This made me very happy. It was a chocolate mouse-like thing, shaped like a heart (it was just after Valentine's Day). It came with berries and drizzled with chocolate. Very decadent. This was a very hip spot. My first impression honestly made me wonder if it was really worth all the praise. By the end of the meal, I had my answer. Arugula Caprese Insalata A creative take on a classic Caprese salad. Arugula replaces basil, while a rich Parmesan cream stands in for fresh mozzarella, giving the dish a deeper, more savory profile without losing the freshness of the tomatoes. The balsamic balances the arugula's slight bitterness beautifully, and the juicy tomatoes cut through the richness of the cream. Fried capers add a pleasant burst of Mediterranean saltiness at the end. Simple ingredients, thoughtfully combined. Chicken Scarpariello This was easily the highlight of the meal. The chicken skin was beautifully seasoned and roasted until fragrant. Instead of being overly juicy, the meat was incredibly tender, with a faint blush of pink at the center. The Italian sausage had a firm, satisfying bite and a rich meaty flavor. I rarely describe roasted potatoes as "melt-in-your-mouth," but these truly were. The sauce, made with white wine, onions, peppers, and tomatoes, was so flavorful that I ended up using bread to wipe the plate clean--and still wished there had been more bread. Italian Love Cake A layered dessert of chocolate cake, ricotta cheesecake, and chocolate mousse. Each layer offered a different texture: the mousse was smooth without feeling heavy, the cake slightly dry, and the ricotta layer pleasantly crumbly. The texture was more memorable than the flavor, but it was surprisingly light to finish despite being a chocolate dessert. Tiramisu Although it's priced at $19.50, the portion is generous--about one and a half times the size of a typical tiramisu. The mascarpone was silky, rich, and pleasantly creamy with a touch of sweetness. The ladyfingers were well soaked with espresso and carried a subtle hint of liqueur. It tasted like a textbook tiramisu: everything was executed correctly, even if it wasn't particularly surprising. Many years from now, I may no longer remember the wildfire that day--but I'll probably still remember this chicken.
