The Charmery - Ice Cream & Frozen Yogurt Near Me - Columbia, Maryland

This review is based on two visits. The first time I stopped by here the ice cream was phenomenal. I went with the dark chocolate and the texture was my favorite. I hate runny ice cream and this was the complete opposite. It was chewy and showed zero signs of ice cream soup even after 5 minutes. I loved it so much I came by the next day with the kids. I ordered the exact same flavor and what I got was a soupy mess. I'm not sure what changed within 24 hours but I was so disappointed. I don't know if something went wrong with the freezers but the ice cream clearly wasn't being chilled at the right temperature. Texture aside, the flavors here are great. I'm hoping it was a fluke so I can give this place their last star. read more

Overall great ice cream! It is very creamy and thick, and they give generous portions in my opinion. There are a variety of flavors to choose from, but I did enjoy the Cookies and Cream a lot. Service was pretty quick, and we were able to sample some different flavors as well. There is no seating inside, so definitely plan to sit outside or take it to go! read more

The Charmery is in a cool little spot in an area that resembles a downtown randomly nestled around trees. It almost reminded me of Bell Works if Bell Works was outside. Nonetheless, the ice cream, specifically the Maryland Mud, was delicious. They did not mess up chocolate ice cream with Oreos. The shop is somewhat small with no seating areas inside so plan accordingly. read more

Pretty tasty ice cream. I got the caramel old bay and it was sweet, creamy, with a hint of spiciness from the old bay. Kind of wish I got the chocolate one but I still enjoyed the caramel one. Line moved pretty quickly and the servers were sweet. There's some benches outside but if those are occupied, you gotta find another spot to sit and enjoy the sweet treat. read more

Great ice cream store if you are already eating nearby in the Merriweather District. Food: ice cream has been delicious every time I've been here. You can't go wrong with any of the flavors and can try a spoon before you buy. Service: kind employees that let us try as much as we wanted before ordering, very patient with my party! Ambiance: bright lighting, easy to read menu and flavor labels, clean store. No indoor seating, can sit on benches or elsewhere in the Merriweather District small park area. Multiple parking lots to use, however can get crowded on weekends! read more

Love the Charmery. First had them at their original location in Hampden! They have old bay caramel ice cream. I was curious so I did a sample - not bad, but not for me. I went with a scoop of salted caramel and it was delicious. It was a warm evening out so the line is out the door. Just like the one I visited before, there's not much space inside, but benches outside to enjoy your sweet treats! read more

I went to buy an ice cream for my sister and when I ask to try a flavor a white lady tells me in a bad way if I wanted something, I said no and I went to have the order with a black lady (she was very kind) I ordered the ice cream for my sister and the white girl said in a bad way if she wanted something else and she said it like 4 times while the other girl was putting my sister's ice cream, very bad treatment of that girl, since we entered there was a bad treatment towards us read more

This Old Lady was unhelpful when ordering and took our card with stamps to tell us they could not honor it and that "points" would be transferred to our account instead. We didn't receive the appropriate amount and she was rude and unhelpful during a rush. All she had to do was honor the card but she instead decided to waste everyone's time and pretended like she was being helpful. I feel bad for the employees because they have to put up with that read more

Quick fast and flavorful. That's what you can expect at the Charmery ice cream shop. The line moves very fast and has a a good turn out. The art and decor is inviting encouraging photo taking with the back drop. There aren't a ton of flavors offered but the ones they have hit the mark. You may purchase pints to go Overall 4 out of 5 read more

One of my favorite ice cream place in Columbia. I like their concept and the stuff. They are really nice and kind... I only try coconut and Maryland mud. They are good. In the beginning the coconut flavor was more strange and it was pretty good. I can't take same taste as the beginning but still good. I wanna try the others asap. They also make the cone over there as fresh as much. Also there is a little card, they put mark on every time you buy ice cream, if you complete ten mark you earn free ice cream! Isn't it nice? read more

Such a nice addition to Merriweather. Came here after dinner for dessert, and enjoyed it on the lawn and swings nearby. They have a wide variety of flavors, and unique ones to the area like Old Bay and Sweet Corn. I enjoyed their Old Bay Caramel, and can't wait to try their other flavors. I appreciate the use of metal spoons for tasting flavors! read more

The Charmery in Columbia has become one of my favorite places to treat myself. Every visit is a little moment of happiness. The staff is always so friendly and welcoming. They never make you feel rushed and are genuinely happy to chat and let you sample flavors until you find the one. I love that they always have fun, unique flavors alongside the classics. My personal go-to is Maryland Mud it's insanely good! Their ice cream is rich, creamy, and full of flavor in every bite. You can really tell they care about quality and creativity. The shop itself has such a cheerful vibe, and it's the perfect stop whether I'm hanging out with friends, having a little date night, or just need a pick-me-up after a long day. The Charmery always hits the spot. Definitely a Columbia favorite of mine! read more

Very poor service . Walked in 4 employees 1 cashier. Waited in queue on line for 10 mins and no one acknowledged me while basically chatting with each other, No greeting. The Charmery - Such a fun place for everyone!! - Ice Cream & Frozen Yogurt Near Me - Columbia, Maryland

bluf - a local franchise that delivers seasonal flavors that are both unique and tasty albeit on the upper range on the pricing scale. Charmery is a cool little spot tucked around the corner in Color Burst Park and it offers a nice little pit stop for a bite of dessert. You pay a bit of a premium price for the artisanal flavors though. I got a "kiddie" sized cup for $5 pre-tip. That being said, the flavors are good. I would love for the seating situation to be better (or exist). There's no indoor seating available, which makes it a bit tough for colder days. There's plenty of outdoor seating, but nobody wants to eat ice cream outside on a cold day. read more

First time visiting The Charmery. On the day that we decided to give it a try, it was really crowded to the point that a long line had formed outside of the establishment. It was good that we arrived right before it got really crowded. This leads me to staff efficiency. They handled the crowd with ease. It was amazing to see how they flowed through serving the crowd without missing a beat. Even with some customer indecision about what to order, the assembly line process was top notch. As for the ice cream, they had some regular flavors, but mostly unusual intriguing flavors. I decided on a safe choice, which was salted caramel. It was some of the best salted caramel ice cream that I have ever tasted. The saltiness, the sweetness of the caramel and the overall creaminess were collectively all amazing. The store made waffle cone was also delicious. It was a very warm day, so the ice cream melted faster than I could eat, so it was a little messy. The outside tables across the street from the shop were pretty messy from prior customer's melted ice cream. The one napkin that was wrapped around my cone was not enough to accommodate the melting ice cream or to clean up the messy table and bench. The smell upon walking into the shop was so sweet, the air smelled of waffle cones. It also appeared very clean. I would like to return at some point and try a more adventurous flavor. read more

Not my first visit to The Charmery, I've been to the Hampden location several times. I had a good time here! Customer service was good. I really liked the ice cream, although I do wish the milkshake came in different sizes. I got a kiddie scoop of Milk and Cookies with Oreo toppings and it was $5.91 which was very affordable and reasonable. The ice cream was creamy and so good! There aren't places to sit inside but in this area there is plenty of outside seating. They have waffle cones, cups and so many flavors! Free Parking is right across the street too. My friend got the Barley Malt flavor which she really likes. They let you try different flavors which is super helpful and I tried two, an apple flavored ice cream and a mud chocolate flavor. (I still went with milk and cookies lol!) I def recommend and I would absolutely visit again. read more

April 2023 The Charmery is located in Merriweather District. They offer a handful of a unique flavors and creative flavor names. Samples are provided, which is nice. I tried the Salty Caramel, Maryland Caramel, and Maryland Mud. It was a tough decision because they were all so tasty, but I decided on the Maryland Mud. It was rich, smooth, and chocolaty. Ice cream is available in a cup or a cone. They also sell prepackaged ice cream, milkshakes, floats, and toppings for ice cream. Gift cards and loyalty cards are available. Unfortunately they don't have indoor seating so you have to take it to go. Staff are all friendly. read more

Where quality meets intrigue. The Charmery ice cream chain is always one to deliver great tasting ice cream in unusual flavors. A set of standard flavors and a weekly rotating series of flavors means there is always something for everyone. Of their staple flavors, I'd recommend the Dark and Stormy, their rich dark chocolate which hits that chocolate craving with a knockout punch. Their Roasted Strawberry puts a toasty twist on the typical Strawberry flavor, giving a more robust taste to a popular flavor. While the mainstay flavors are good, it's the rotational flavors that peek my interest. Sample as many of these flavors as you can, because you never know when one will disappear. If you do have a favorite, you can take some home with you. And don't forget to check their back fridge, as many of their discontinued flavors have a few last remaining pints in there. Be bold and try something experimental. You'll be surprised with how good they can be. Last week I tried Guava with Cream Cheese and Pastry Chunks. It felt like ice cream for breakfast! The beautiful wall murals and funky music put you into the mood for sweets, and the helpful staff always has time and patience to hand out samples. Be sure to get a punch card when you buy as 10 purchases give you a fun spin on their wheel of prizes. Your punch card can be used at any Charmery location. Bold flavors and a fun environment makes the Charmery a great treat any time. read more

I finally made it after hearing so many great reviews. I was in town for the Caribbean Festival and we walked over to The Charmery. It was one of those days it felt like it was 100 plus outside. As soon as we entered we were greeted by wonderful cool AC air lol!! Lol! The line wasn't too long it started to get longer after we arrived. I grew up in the south and I was soooo excited when I saw on the menu.... CheerWine Float!!! *insert happy dance* the wait wasn't too long. You can use Apple play or touch pay. If your order isn't ready when you are ready to pay you can wait outside and they have a walk up window they use to give you your order. The staff was so patient and allowed us to sample some of the ice cream. My CheerWine Float with vanilla ice cream was so good! I will definitely be back again to try different flavors. read more

I recently visited The Charmery and tried their ice cream sandwich flavor in a waffle cone, and it was delicious! The ice cream was creamy and full of flavor, with chunks of cookie mixed in that added a nice crunch. The waffle cone held up well to the generous scoops of ice cream. The staff was friendly and helpful, making the overall experience even more enjoyable. I will definitely be returning, although I do wish they would bring back the Speculoos flavor LOL. That used to have me in a chokehold! read more

Needed a sweet treat after dinner n the Merriweather district and walked by the Charmery. I had heard good things about it so I'd been wanting to try it out. My daughter is always up for some ice cream so she was willing to give it a try as well. Still looks nice and clean inside and there was no line on a Tuesday evening. There was no line when we got there so we didn't have to wait long. They have a lot of interesting flavors. I had the cookie dough and my daughter went with the basic chocolate. The portions are tiny and it's expensive so I won't be coming often. It runs about 7 dollars for a small scoop. Toppings are a little extra. We got ours in cups but they have mini cones and larger waffle cones. Ice cream was soft and sweet. Reminds me of a fancy baskin robins. read more

First thing I have to say is that you can smell the sweetness from this store down the street! It smelled SO good. It's located in a really fun area near the Merriweather Pavillon. I got the Brownie Fudge Sundae which only comes in a cup (didn't know this when I ordered it). I asked them to give me a cone, but it wasn't the most aesthetic by that point. It was tasty, but there was way too much whipped cream, and the ice cream seemed to melt quickly. read more

Visited The Charmery for the first time yesterday. The plus? The young lady helping us was very nice. The minus(es)? The ice cream was just not good! I had the Ice Cream Sandi flavor and it tasted like freezer burn - ice crystals and all. My granddaughter had the Maryland Mud, which we would say was just okay, not much flavor. Additionally, we were shocked that a kiddie scoop was so teeny yet was $5 each! For that cost, we expected so much more. Based on quality of product, flavor and cost - cannot recommend. read more

Stopped in here after dinner at Peter Chang. I always like ice cream shops with either really good soft serve or creative hard ice cream flavors. After trying old bay caramel and Saturday morning cartoons, ended up with a scoop of the latter. Was fast, reasonably priced, and pretty good ice cream. I'd be back to try another creative flavor. read more
