    The flavors for the day
    Michael S.

Walking up to this food truck is always exciting because I can't wait to see what flavors Mike's Gelato has to offer for the day. The truck is always shiny and clean and the owner, Mike is friendly and ready to help you with making the right decision. I'm going to start off talking about my families order. I love chocolate but almost always hate chocolate ice cream/gelato. It always tastes fake or not enough chocolate. Well both my kids ordered a scoop of chocolate. When they couldn't finish their gelato, not because they didn't like it, because they are kids and don't finish anything hahaha someone had to step up to the plate to finish both their scoops. Well that person was me and I wasn't upset about eating the chocolate gelato at all. I took that first bite and fell in love with Mikes chocolate gelato. I didn't stop eating until both scoops were gone. Yeah, it's that good. The texture was super smooth and as any gelato expert knows, there's a "bite" (elasticity) to great gelato. Once I polished off my kids gelatos, I started eating my double scoop of salted butter caramel and mocha chip. It was rather delish and after dreaming of Italy while I ate my double scoop it was gone into my stomach. If you're keeping count, I had four scoops of gelato today and I'm not embarrassed about it!!! My taste buds were dancing with the wonderful flavors I had ordered. Another knockout!!! Lastly my wife ordered the Bacio single scoop. If you love Nutella then this flavor is right up your alley. It tasted exactly like Nutella with a little hazelnut crunch and chocolate swirl. Can't go wrong with that. If I was giving advice to everyone reading this review, I would say go to Mike Gelato's social media and find out where their trucks will be. Then go and order anything and everything off their menu because it's delish. It's so good you're gonna feel like you should book a ticket to Italy to compare gelatos!!!

Mike's gelato was parked in front of Frank's greenhouses, so we're got to enjoy our gelatos while shopping around for plants. I had a mocha latte and mint chip and my son had an orange sorbet. Both were delicious! The staff were very nice and gave us samples to try until we decided on a flavor. We will definitely go back to get some more gelatos from them next time we see them.

Mike truly knows what he's doing when it comes to creating his hand-crafted, artisan gelato. A wonderful story to how he started to create gelato and the taste goes far! Wonderful texture and rich flavors! This has got to be one of the best gelatos I've had. You can find his truck in Columbia, Ellicot City, the general Howard county area. Follow him on Facebook for more details since it is a start up company. (https://www.facebook.com/mikesgelato) I hope his business launches for him to have a shop someday. The pistachio was the smoothest and tastiest pistachio flavor I've had. The mint chocolate chip has chocolate shards so it made the eating experience even better. Super friendly service and excited to hand you samples! Small - $4 Large - $5.50 Box - $10

Absolutely LOVE Mike's gelato. The number of times I've been here is kind of ridiculous. I went to a gelato festival in DC to try some more different vendors, and lo and behold MIKE'S THERE! His was hands down one of the best (and there were trucks from all over the east coast!) Gelato tastes very authentic from the texture to the flavor, and I cannot recommend it enough. So glad he is doing deliveries during quarantine, so please GO GET SOME!

Stopped at Mike's Gelato Artisan Italian Ice Cream truck while at the Annual Montpelier Festival of Herbs, Tea, and the Arts at Montpelier Mansion in Laurel, MD. I'm soooo happy to have gotten the coffee gelato! It was perfectly smooth & flavorful. The guys working in the truck had nice customer service - they let us sample flavors before we chose coffee. Based on this experience, I'm eager to try other flavors. Only negative is the small cup is $4, which seems quite high for the amount you get. If you see Mike's Gelato at an event definitely get some. You won't regret it!

I love that they bother to stack the store filled with various treats and specialty items that you don't often see elsewhere, as you would expect in a deli. It's cute, it's cosy, it's fun, and the food has always been rather good. Not Italian Market good, not Canal Street good, but Howard County good. It is not a full service restaurant - it's counter order. They seem to have become extremely popular for phone and 3rd party delivery orders. Other reviews mention learning of them on social media - and it seems they have been collaborating with local "influencers" for mentions. Do I think the world need "influencers" ? No, I do not, but it seems to be working for Eataliano but they unfortunately don't seem to know how to manage the volume they have created. Today I went with my entire family who just wanted some pickup food to eat while we drove around in the rain. They are sooooo slow to decide, and I am not plus I was starving so I hopped in an put in my solo order for a cheesesteak while the rest talked in the van figuring out what they wanted. That one cheesesteak too over a half hour. A HALF HOUR with me standing their waiting. It seems like they were firing phone orders before the orders of people in the store, and I watched multiple customers walk upon learning the wait time. Noone in the shop was moving with any sense of urgency and seemed completely unbothered by the wait times - one homie literally went out front to water flowers lol. By the time the rest of my family had their orders ready to place, we had already decided we weren't going to order them there. It was awkward, but I took my one single cheesesteak back into the van and we drove to Waterloos for the other 3. Waterloos had them ready in 8 minutes. To top that off, my sub wasn't wrapped properly and one half of the steak was upside down in the paper making a terrible mess, and there weren't even any napkins in the bag. They have their point of sale guilt-tip machine defaulting to 25%, with literally no wait staff. I've never more in my life wanted my tip money back, and my view of Eataliano has been forever diminished. It will probably be quite a while before I go back quite frankly. If you're going to have the bollocks to request tips for counter service, and 25% tips at that, you had better deliver exceptional service and Eataliano absolutely did not. I

We made a last-minute decision to try for some of the nightly jazz (except Monday) at 18th & 21st on a Friday evening (Oct 2025), hip-ly named for the prohibition amendment and repeal :-) There's a free parking garage right across from the entrance of the building they share with a sister restaurant, Cured. We arrived in the bright seasonally-decorated welcoming lobby about 7:50pm. We ought to have made reservations, but in under 10min, the reception staff took us to the more intimate room towards the back where we were seated at at the bar, which is really what we wanted. When we arrived, the 6pm jazz band had just gone on break, so we felt free to chat with friendly regulars and with the bar staff. They have a changing list of ten craft beers from $6 to $21, plus one $6 non-alcoholic brew. Five of the $14-$35 per-glass vintage wines from their list of 17 are preserved with the "corovin" system that keeps air out, so they are never "corked". We focussed on their list of 11 crafted $13-$22 cocktails plus 5 non-alcoholic ones, all made with quality ingredients, each naming the staff member(s) (and guests) who formulated the recipe! We found Alex's $16 Fernetinez sublimely sweet: of bitter fernet amaro, Frederick-based locally-sourced award-winning McClintock One Last Time gin (exclusive for 18th&21st), smooth Luxardo liqueur, and a sweet vermouth. We loved the aroma and flavor of the classic Smoked Old Fashioned of bourbon from Kentucky's 10th-oldest distillery, Green River, moved to a mild well-rounded sweetness by brown sugar simple syrup, smoked in front of me by Mike (if i remember), with added richness from smoky bitters. They have a creative menu of $30 to $65 entrees, plus salads, small plates, apps, and sides, and they have a changing menu of small plates. We really hadn't planned on eating, but we couldn't resist. The $17 duck bao buns had thin tender filets with a sweet lightly-salty apricot-soy glaze and a tangy crunchy pickled cucumber slaw on a soft folded yeasted slightly-sweet white-flour bun. The $12 pair of fried fresh-tasting oysters were sweet and juicy with a light-flavored crunchy crust. They were so yummy, and easy to enjoy with our cocktails. Rodney Kelly's jazz band was excellent, playing with spirit, joking with each other and the audience, even staging a song or two with a skilled member of the restaurant staff. Afterwards we had brief moments with some of the band members, like an intimate jazz club. Later in the evening, i also had a Turkish Sunset, a Manhattan-variation created in a collaboration among the staff and a guest (Well-done Ozzie!). I love Elijah Craig, and wanted to try their dry toasted rye, with housemade allspice dram syrup, Small Hands grenadine, and bitters. By now, i felt very much at home with the staff, and when i learned that one of them had helped formulate this beverage, i confided that its amazing complexity was, for me, just a touch too dry. Alex (if i remember) considered the ingredients and the target flavors, and added just a touch of a sweet lemony liqueur, perfectly complimenting the recipe's flavors! Real-time crafting goes above and beyond, Thank you! (And when they next update the menu, maybe they'll have a custom option named for me :-)

It's a pretty big place with a bar and booths on the left, and another area of booths on the right. We were greeted and seated quickly by the hosts, and as we asked, we landed near the performer in the area to the right. The place was busy around 6pm, and friendly server quickly got menus for us, and within a few minutes, we had our drinks: a lovely $13 Maple Walnut Old Fashioned, fiery intense Makers Mark sweetened a little by maple syrup and focussed with walnut bitters. And a bright $13 Pom Pom Fizz, earthy gin with pomegranate juice, prosecco, and i think some lime juice. Both were well crafted , balanced, and refreshing. They started us with a sliced long narrow loaf of hot filone bread, with one of our Italian favorites, warm pinzimonio dipping oil: fresh aromatic olive oil with a pinch of mixed rich parmesan crumbles, zingy red-pepper flakes, and savory green herbs. It is tempting to make our whole meal of this! We had the $19 salmon & spinach in oil & garlic, from Tino's "lighter fare" menu. This was a huge filet, tender inside with a lovely deep crosshatch char on the surface. Quite perfect! And we asked for a customized $14 sandwich: Tino's offers a steak & cheese on chewy crusty hoagie roll, and we asked for added sautéed green peppers, with the generous cheese, sliced red onion and tomato, and lettuce on the side. The generous thin-sliced beef was tender and sweet cooked just right. The tasty lightly-seasoned fries were piping hot, and soft inside. We were perfectly satisfied with our light meal, and we managed to take a good amount home for later. The skilled musician, Bruce Casteel, played 5 to 7pm, a warm selection of familiar acoustic jazz, easy and fun to listen to. We'll return both for this musician and for the wide menu of flavorful food. You drive into the strip mall on Centre Park Dr just north of Old Annapolis Rd (MD-108), then turn left like you are going to the convenience store and keep driving around to the ample parking lot for Tino's. You can also easily get here off MD-100 at Executive Park Dr, winding via the non-highwqy Columbia 100 Parkway to Centre Park Dr.

The biggest issue across the board was the food--everything tasted bland. There was a noticeable lack of seasoning, and most dishes ended up tasting the same. I started with a Caesar salad, which was unusual with added tomatoes and other vegetables you don't typically see. While it was fine, it lacked flavor. For the main course, all four of us ordered pasta, and again, the same issue--very little taste. No one offered fresh Parmesan, which is something you'd normally expect with a pasta dish. Halfway through my meal, trying to improve the flavor, I asked for some Parmesan. I was genuinely surprised when the server told me it would cost an extra $1. It wasn't about the dollar--it was the principle. Charging extra for something as basic as Parmesan with pasta felt unreasonable. When we raised the concern, the manager confirmed this policy came directly from the owner. My advice: just include it in the price of the dish. Policies like that leave a bad impression and cost you repeat customers. Between the bland food and that moment, the experience turned from disappointing to frustrating. Sadly, this isn't a place we'll be returning to--and it's one we'll be warning others about.

If I was coming to eat there and was asked if I wanted bread and didn't know there was a charge, I would be upset. It was kind of deceiving, and when the bill came out, shoved the handheld device to pay in my face and I couldn't go over the bill. He told me to put my phone here when paying and that was that. The bill was incorrect and I had to get a manager to fix it (the manger was very friendly and took care of everything). I also have an issue when a server asks us how the food is, right when the food gets put down on the table. We hadn't even had a chance to take a bite. Now, why I gave this place a five star. Like I said before, the ambiance was amazing, if we had a different server, I'm sure it would had been great! The food: it' was top notch. Some of the best food in Maryland. I wouldn't had changed anything with the food. Everything was seasoned perfectly, had the right textures, and tasted so good! Would I go back? Absolutely!

I'm not too big on scallops so I asked the bartender if I could substitute the scallops with more shrimp--but if they couldn't it was still ok. He sent in my order and my order came out the opposite. I received what I believed to be double scallops and no shrimp. The manager happened to be passing by and checked on me while passing. I explained to him that the order came out opposite from what I requested--with no hesitation he immediately said --no problem ma'am, I'll put in a side of shrimp for you.... I was so thankful for his generosity and quick problem solving. The shrimp didn't take long at all to arrive. And they arrived so hot and tasty. I really enjoyed this place, the ambiance is EVERYTHING!!!! The service is EVERYTHING!!!! And the food and drinks were immaculate... Last but not least I can't forget the restroom. When I tell you this place has the best restroom I've ever been in at an establishment --I mean it. This place is top notch and I definitely will return. I didn't try any pizza on during my visit but I will on my next visit. This place is a 5 start restaurant all day long....

My family and I were looking for a new Italian restaurant today. Somewhere near home, so we came to…read morethis location for dinner. Loved the decor and ambience ... from the fireplace, to the pizza oven in the middle of the restaurant, to the bar area with the televisions. Parking was also easy even on a Saturday. My daughter and I split a Romana salad; it's kind of like a Caesar salad. Good but had to ask for more dressing. I ordered the spaghetti Amatriciana, daughter got the chicken Limone, husband got Ravioli D'Aragosta. My spaghetti wasn't spicy at all (as was assumed since it had spicy Calabrian chilis), the burrata ball was huge and at first I didn't get it because it was cold while the rest of the dish was warm. Well when you mix it in the dish it was very good. I added some salt but after that it all came together. The other two dishes were also enjoyed at the table. Portions were generous, we had leftovers and the service was pretty good too. Would definitely come back!
