The team here is SO stinking sweet and were serving up the most delicious chai this weekend during our trip to the market! I absolutely adore that on nice weather days they turn around their whole operation and allow people to wait and be served completely outside. The line moves crazy quick, so don't be discouraged if you see the line is long on your next market trip. I have been to the Park Ave location numerous times, and usually opt for black coffee for our market visits from Javas instead. I am so glad we made the choice to grab chais! I went with an iced chai, vanilla almond milk, half sweet with a shot of espresso...quite the long order. The barista accidentally forgot the shot and then they (incredibly kindly, after I brought it to their attention) added two shots in for my caffeinated pleasure! I was READY for anything :) I just love this business and think that kindness is built in to every single interaction. There are so many options to switch up your chai order, from milk to sweetness to espresso to flavors...the combos are endless. This is mediocre chai. Very cinnamon forward and reminiscent of a Western chai syrup you can buy from Starbucks or Rishi tea. They should make a more cardamom and ginger heavy chai. India House restaurant in Swillberg, for example, makes a better chai. read more

We've been buying Chai from The Chai Guy @ The Public Market for a while now. The location is ok - inside the new building. Very small "booth" and always a long line. Drinks are a little expensive, but we like to buy Chai and make at home. The initial purchase is $10, but you can bring the bottle back for $5 refills. Not bad! You can get several drinks out of the bottle (since it's a 1:1 ratio of Chai and milk, etc.) We just found out that they have a location at the Roberts Wesleyan Cafe when school is in session. That's right around the corner from us so we don't have to travel all the way downtown to get refills now. The staff is always friendly and helpful. I had no idea Pat (The Chai Guy) had a Yelp page.. I've been getting his chai since his beginning (about 5 yrs) and it's been great to watch him grow and expand. Believe me he knows what he's doing.. he's friendly and has a great team with him. During the holidays the Chai Nog made w/ Pittsford Farm Dairy Egg Nog and his Chai is a delight. His stuff hot or iced is fabulous and if your not sure he'll gIve you a sample before you take the plunge. Please go see him.. hopefully he'll do a candle soon! The chai at chai guy is not like the usual Indian masala chai. Being an indian I can attest to that but it is still pretty good, almost like the chai tea latte with less milk. Don't order the cappuccino at this place because it's basically black coffee with foam on top unless you are looking for very strong black coffee with creamer instead of your cappuccino. Their savory snacks were good and fresh and so is the decor. They do not have free WiFi if you are looking to work from here. read more

Behold the Chai!! I love chai tea but just try to find it where it isn't made with a sickening syrup or a plain old tea bag string hanging out of your cup (ick I can do that at home!) and you will be hard-pressed. This place did not disappoint. I was at the Rochester public market and as soon as I saw the words "chai", I ran right up to him and told him I loved Chai and wanted a try. He gives free samples of every single drink he sells. He gave me, my sister and my father all a sample of the classic chai. He said it was one of his most popular and I can see why. It was really delicious. I still had not eaten lunch at that point lunch so I promised him I would be back. After lunch I went back over. The man who owns the shop has a really great personality. He's one of those people that is a friend as you meet him--you feel like he's an old friend. I ordered the vanilla almond but because it was towards the end of the market's opening hours he was out of all almond flavors including chocolate almond. So he came up with this concoction for me which was vanilla chai with some cinnamon at it. I had a iced version. Normally I'm a fan of the hot tea but I decided to go for iced. The chai was really good. It's hard to find fresh brewed chai that has a lot of spices in it. My sister had never had tried before and she said it's now her new favorite drink. I think I enjoyed the classic version more than the vanilla version as I felt the classic version was less sweet. Then again it was a small sample so I'm not sure. All in all it's a great chai and if you are at the Rochester public market make sure you go and say hi to the chai guy who's located in the new building. read more

The Chai Guy! He is super nice and I can tell he is passionate about what he does, which makes the experience better! I've never gotten a chai from him before, but I've always wanted to. My best friend and I want to the holidays at the public market this past weekend and we were waiting on some family! Behold! We tried the Chai Guy! He had some unique holiday drinks and I decided to try the eggnog chai! I truly love eggnog, I know some people don't. It tasted more eggnog and watered down chai. I was really looking forward to the spicy and cinnamon taste of chai. I'll give him a try again. I think the eggnog drink is for those who don't like chai and really don't like the aftertaste of it! This guy makes a phenomenal product. Real deal, no powder mix. Plus, he's a sweet guy whose really enthusiastic about what he sells. My fav is the 50/50 bc it is half as sweet as the regular chai. Also - what is great- is that you can find CHAI GUY Chai in different coffee shops through out the region!
