I went to the Carpet Yard in McLean two weeks ago to buy new carpet for my family room, hallway, two stairways and master bedroom. The person there helped me narrow down some choices and allowed me to take home samples. I came a week later to return samples and to schedule for carpet measurements. The person I was working with didn't show up on the scheduled date and time. I called twice to try to find out what happened, leaving messages both times. I did not hear back. I will not be going back. Carpet Yard just lost a substantial sale. read more

DO NOT USE THE CARPET YARD!!! Jina, the owner is extremely unprofessional and the installation process was a nightmare. We had a large carpet installation project for our house which was not cheap. She complained after the installation that she had to pay her installer an extra $275 for moving numerous boxes and furniture which were part of the original agreement. This is petty amount considering how much she charged and profited from our project. The installers themselves never complained about moving the boxes and furniture to us on the installation day. Furthermore, Jina complained that her installer had to work late in order to complete the job. We had no problem if he did the job in two days instead of one, however the installers wanted to complete the work in a day. Actually this also impacted our late schedule which they don't care! The installers are not capable of doing large projects. According to them, they usually install carpets in one or small room. They also damaged some of our baseboards during the installation process. The entire team from owner to installers to salesman were unprofessional as they complained all these issues after they received their money to the customer. Finally, Rob, the salesman is extremely moody and rude at times. Bottom line is that they DO NOT CARE about their customers!! read more

Would not recommend this company to my worst enemy in the DMV. Installed hard word floors upstairs while my wife and I were away, came home to 19 nail pops in our ceiling on the first floor underneath the area of installation. They failed to admit fault, failed to send someone out to fix it- Jina A. (manger) the point of contact was horrendous to deal with- Mitch who was also on the project was asked to leave my house by Jina during their "inspection" due to the rudeness he showed toward my wife. We bought two rugs from the carpet yard for more than $3k. During the installation they indicated that there is an additional $100-150 charge for moving the piano. The piano was mentioned multiple times during our conversations with the salesman as we asked for help and on measurements. Owner did not want to honor what was agreed upon. We needed to replace the aging carpet in our upstairs living area. We shopped around a couple of carpet stores, but found the prices high and their only response when we wanted to negotiate was to pick a cheaper grade carpet. This we would not do. We then stopped in at Carpet Yard in McLean, and boy are we glad we did. Mitch helped us out and showed us a number of options to choose from. Mitch was just great. He was very knowledgeable, and helped us find the perfect carpet. A better grade than we had seen elsewhere, and for less money. Our new carpet was installed yesterday. Dealing with Carpet Yard was the worst experience of our recent move - strangely it was the biggest expense of all the updates we made. We worked with one of their sales guys, who knew from the beginning that we were working on a timeline - we wanted to get the carpet changed before we moved into our new house. He took the measurement, we went and picked a carpet, and he sent us an estimate. It was all good and we had over two weeks left. Then he wanted us to pick a different carpet because the one we picked was not available. We went the next day and picked a different one, the guy we were working with was not there that day. Then I kept calling and leaving vm on his cell and store number for the next 4 days with no response. I finally get him on the phone and he was as rude as one could be, blamed us for not picking the carpet in time. I asked him "when were you going to tell me that?" and his response "I don't have time for this, I have 50 other customers I am working with." That was not even the worst thing he said. In summary, if you want good customer service don't go to this store. Interestingly, some other store got us the same carpet we wanted, beat the price, and did a great job. Because of the delays caused by Carpet yard, we couldn't get the job done before we moved but it got done a few days after we moved, and we are happy. read more

The Carpet Yard installed new wall to wall carpeting in a rental apartment. I chose them due to excellent reviews in Consumers Checkbook and they did not disappoint. Mitch gave great advice on the best carpet to choose for price and durability (part cut pile part loop) and got it installed as soon as it came from the factory. Although the Carpet Yard salesman who attended me in the McLean store measured the area I wished to have carpeted in my home and told me he would forward a quote to me, I did not hear from him. I stopped in the store twice and left my name and contact information since the salesman who assisted me was not in the store either time I stopped in. Yet I received no communication from anyone from the store. If the store salesmen did not elect to do my job, one of them should at least have had the courtesy to tell me so. In contrast, a salesman from a Bethesda, Md. carpet store came to my home to measure within one day of my visiting the store and gave me a quote on site. I placed the order, and the carpet is to be laid in a couple of weeks. Carpet Yard's failure to perform was unacceptable. It has not earned even one star but Yelp does not permit a lower rating. read more

Fantastic job with no oversight required. Mitch, Kristina and the crew get it done, take pride in their work and provide perfection in satisfaction. Woodwork: Ridiculously great job. They restored oak floors over 90 years old to the point you would have sworn they were recently installed...no easy task when considering they needed to find and perfectly match oak pieces to cover holes and damage accruing over the years. The floors look seamless! CarpetYard painstakingly restored the oak floors in all the closets too. I can't imagine how uncomfortable and difficult task that must have been. Carpeting: Equally adept at putting down carpet with no seams showing, perfectly cut and finished, no mess to clean up when they were done. Vinyl: They did a wonderful job with vinyl flooring in the washer/dryer work area with nice shoe molding around all walls. MAJOR ISSUE WITH CARPET YARD: Although they are very reasonable in pricing, it gets expensive because there work is so good you keep finding new jobs you want them to do that you had not even thought of before. It is nice to know there is a service team out there that gets the job done without having to watch over them constantly. The peace of mind before, during and after the job is heavenly. Who really wants to worry about their flooring with so much else going on. You will not make a mistake in selecting Carpet Yard. read more

We just had carpet installed by Carpet Yard in our master bedroom and adjacent office. It was a fantastic experience from start to finish. Charlotte measured accurately, quoted us a very competitve price and the 3 installers who came today were true professionals. They worked neatly, installed the carpet without any issues and moved the furniture around as carefully as if it was theirs. We have dealt with Carpet Yard numerous times over the years and have always been satisfied. This time the installation went fine, although they were a little careless and scratched a piece of furniture and scratched the freight elevator. However, the main complaint is that the salesman claimed our Dyson vacuum cleaner would glide smoothly over the new carpet. Turns out, it is almost impossible to push. We called several times to the salesman to get suggestions, but he never returned our calls. read more

I used carpet yard in mclean for years. Recently, however, customer service has been going down and the prices have been going up. They claim that they have the most competetive prices in the area but I have found that not to be true anymore. In addition, my sales person wasn't interested enough to call me back on several occasions with a price quote. It was like pulling teeth to get any information and to talk to him. I definitely won't go back nor recommend them to anyone. read more
