First off, the owner came right up to us after being seated and told us about the restaurant, asked about allergies, and made sure to let us know it was a dedicated GF restaurant! Small local town place that delivers big on food! As you walk in on the right is a counter style full bar, on the left behind a partition is the dining room. Make no mistake this is not a fine dining establishment, more hybrid diner, however, the food is well prepared and popping with freshness, everything we ordered came out expeditiously and correctly. Clam chowder i thought was a little "fish stewy" if there is such a word, and i'm a Westminster cracker man too, these were not Westminster (personal preference) so i give the chowder 6 out of 10. The fish and chips were very good, great fresh fish in a light batter, personal preference again i like a thicker batter, frozen fries were a bit of a let down too, wish they were had cut, but the fish itself was outstanding, flaky and white. One of our group got the chefs salad with corned beef and turkey and was a huge hit, very tasty, extremely fresh. The place was packed, always a good sign, and there was plenty of take outs going on, the pizza's looked really good and seemed very popular. Portions were good sized and i saw lots of doggie bags walking out the door. All in all a solid establishment that i'll certainly revisit. read more

I was very impressed with by the way the owner was helping out here himself. He was very friendly, explained what the menu was about. Our waitress was Leah and she was as sweet as could be. Every one was very attentive. The food was presented on the plate very well. My boyfriend had the stuffed chicken which he thought was great. He had the chowder which he enjoyed. Personally it was to thick for me but I tasted it and the flavor was great and the clams were tender. I had captains plate . It had fried fish, scallops, French fries, onion rings. It was a nice golden brown. Not greasy at all . It was all gluten free which was amazing for most restaurants don't do a gluten free breading which upsets me. The only thing I didn't like was that it was salty, to salty for me. I don't use salt at all. Still I will go back to try their Italian dishes. I want to try their gluten free garlic bread. It is what it is. I can't say as that I agree with the majority of the reviews posted here. My wife and I were told how good this place was by some friends that live in Middleboro so we thought we'd give it a try.....and when we found out tht it was owned by the same person that owns several other local places that we like we made the trip. I wish we didn't! We sat at the bar because we were just going to try their raved about pizza and a couple of drinks. The service started out ok but quickly declined after we placed our order. Our server/ bartender along with one of the other wait staff had themselves planted at the end of the bar on their cell phones the entire time we were there. Although they did come up for air on occasion when a patron would come in the door..... then right back to their phones. The straw that broke the camels back was when our server walked by us several times when we were trying to pay and get out of there. Along with that while she was ringing someone in at the register she yelled to ask if her phone just lit up across the room to the other young server that was still sitting there clicking away on her phone. There were also stacks of plates, bowls and glasses coming out of what appeard to be the area that they are supposed to be washed. It didn't seem as though anyone was washing them and the staff just kept adding to the pile. The only bright spots were that the cook was somewhat engaging and the pizza was ok. As I said, "It is what it is".... a local place where locals have come to accept and settle for sub par service. Maybe we would have had better luck getting take out. Very dissapointed! read more

Cozy little place with great food. The pizza is a great thin-crust that's just a bit greasy but still nice and crisp. They have several different specialty pizzas that you won't find anywhere else. All the rest of the food comes in huge portions and is equally as good. With a small bar and only one TV, it isn't the best place to watch a game, but the friendly wait staff and warm atmosphere make it worth the visit. read more

This is gluten free heaven. I haven't had options like this in years. Since being diagnosed with celiac disease I've had to say goodbye to quesadillas, fried clams, seafood platters, onion rings....all of that. This place has and does it all. The head chef has created a gluten free batter that is absolutely flawless. And the seafood couldn't be fresher or better prepared. This place is an absolute breath of fresh air. I live in New Bedford and have driven here twice in one week just to eat here. Dedicated fryer, dedicated prep area, the whole nine yards. Didn't have a single issue and I'm super sensitive. My husband and I were out and about last night and decided to stop at The Cabin for dinner based on word of mouth recommendations. We were immediately greeted by an elderly gentleman who led us to our seats after stopping at the specials board to review them with us. He was very nice and had a great sense of humor! At one point during dinner he even burst into song and got a nice round of applause from the dining room! The dining room itself was cozy (shouldn't all cabins be that way?) and the service was prompt, friendly, and very competent which is hard to come by these days! We started off with the stuffed quahogs which were delicious and included a plentiful amount of finely chopped linguiça. I was having a hard time deciding what to get because it all sounded so good and looked good from what we could see of the other diner's food. We finally decided on pizza and chose both the taco pizza and a bacon and onion pie. I was tempted to order the Tom Sawyer just to see what a Mac n' cheese and hotdog pizza looked like! The pizzas came out nice and hot! They are 10-inch "bar pies." the taco pizza had a layer of flavorful taco meat and was topped with amazingly fresh and tasty tomatoes (for this time of year), crisp lettuce, and thinly sliced red onion. The bacon and onion pie had small pieces of onion and real bacon, not precooked crumbles like some places. There were actual "fatty" pieces in there but since it was chopped up into small pieces as well, it made the pie easy to eat, even for little kids who may not be able to handle large chunks of meat or long pieces of onion. We would have loved to try some of their deserts but we were ready to bust a gut and ended up taking most of the bacon and onion pie home. It made a really great breakfast! I don't like soggy crust or greasy pizza and I found the pizzas here to be just the opposite with a crisp, thin, chewy crust and not at all greasy! I would actually prefer this pizza to our regular one but since we live in the mid-Cape area it's not very practical to come here as often as I would like! As for the issue with not having any changing table that another reviewer was complaint about, they have this great invention called a changing mat that you can lay down anywhere to change a baby. 2nd visit tonite was as good as the first! Got seats at the bar, which are at a premium since there's not many seats. Even though it was 1/2 price pizza night, we opted to try something different. I had a hamburger made like one of their chicken sandwiches, mushrooms/swiss on garlic infused bun! Heaven! The meat was flavorful, plenty of garlic, which I love. Hubster had a steak sandwich and said the next time he would ask for garlic on it because he loved the smell of mine and thought it would be nice on the shaved steak, and it probably will be! Again the girls were friendly, and so was the chef, love the family-type atmosphere. I want to move near them and I will never cook again! read more

O.M.G ( oh my gluten free!) THE BEST gluten free menu in Massachusetts! The owner John was so inviting and a pleasure to talk to! Everything we tried was gluten free. The owner offered us a free app, we tried the boneless buffalo! So delicious! I didn't think I'd ever eat that again. We split the steak and cheese quesadilla with a side of onion rings. After seeing many appetizingly plated specials on facebook, decided to try The Cabin for the first time. It was a delightful experience! The outside is clean and neat looking....even the dumpster area looked freshly washed and cleaned. The parking lot has no debris or litter anywhere....all of that being a very good sign of high upkeep. Upon entering, we were greeted by a hostess and the bartender and escorted to the table by the owner, who gave us a delightful first timer's run down of the menu and the specials. He was charming but not overbearing. The menu is extensive, and there is certainly something for everyone, including lighter fare, hearty meals, sandwiches, pizza and even gluten free options. Our food arrived piping hot and was delicious down to the very last bite. The dining room decor is cozy and attractive and, again, very very clean. My family & were on a multi-state car trip. We were coming back from Cape Cod when a hellacious hail storm erupted. We pulled off the road at what appeared to be a log cabin/diner. Long story made short ... the food here is fantastic. Totally blew away our expectations. Crispy light, fresh fried seafood. I'd never had belly clams before. My nephew had a gluten-free pizza from their brick oven. The Mahi special actually came with a good amount of fresh vegetables that weren't overcooked. Priced right, great value But I've saved the best part for last. After we pahked the cah, we got to hear the waitresses tahk. I just cannot say enough good things about this place! My boyfriend has Celiac Disease and is allergic to gluten. This restaurant has the most gluten free options out of anywhere we have ever been! He got to eat things he hasn't had since before being diagnosed, and even better the whole family loves this place! We will split gluten free appetizers and they don't even taste gluten free! The menu is quite ample leaving plenty of choices even for picky eaters. They have delicious desserts and a great selection of alcohol. It's often busy here but the staff are very friendly and great about the wait. Each time we've been the owner always comes over to chat and see how our meals are. We randomly stopped for dinner on a road trip to the cape. The staff are super friendly and very attentive. I would say that in service they rank 4 stars. The food is typical American food and is ok. Great seafood and service. Moved to the area recently and this is becoming 'our spot.' Any seafood item we've had has been absolutely delicious. Salads were great as well and that corn bread... THAT corn bread is out of this world! Did have the pineapple sturdy and buffalo chicken wrap and weren't fans but definitely try the fried oysters and any seafood platter. Caesar salad was great too! Went in on a busy Friday night and wow what a place. Not at all what I imagined. Kitchen was right there hostesses were seating people and it was grand central station. I didn't have reservations so expected a long wait but owner came by started talking and through dad's name out there and bam we had a table. Food I had the swordfish which was the special it was great. My wife had steak tips and she was very happy. My rating is based on customer service alone (I have not eaten here personally): I called to purchase a gift card as a Christmas present for my dad (Celiac Disease and he loves the gluten-free options) and asked if it could be mailed to him as I don't have a way of picking it up myself, as I live an hour away with no car. The hostess originally said they didn't mail out gift cards. I was bummed as I thought last Christmas they did this for me. I received a call back a minute later from the same woman. She said she had asked the owner if they could mail out a gift card and he said yes, he had been doing that for a few people this week.
