We made the drive out to Middleborough to give Check In Thai Cuisine a try and ended up ordering quite a bit so we could get a good feel for the menu. Overall, we were really happy with the meal and there were a couple of dishes that genuinely stood out. The Samui Fried Rice was probably one of my favorites. You could immediately taste the wok hei. The rice had that smoky, slightly charred flavor that you only really get when fried rice hits a properly hot wok. It makes such a difference compared to fried rice that tastes like it was simply tossed together. The shrimp were a good size, the vegetables still had some texture, and everything was seasoned well without being overly salty. The Pad Gra Paow was another standout for the same reason. Tons of wok hei and a really nice savory basil flavor throughout the dish. I love when you can actually taste that something came straight out of a ripping hot wok, and both this and the fried rice had that quality. Definitely two dishes I would order again. We also tried the Spicy Basil Fried Cod, which came with a generous piece of fried fish and plenty of vegetables. The cod held up nicely against the sauce without becoming completely soggy. We also ordered the Choo Chee Duck, which was rich and flavorful and a nice change from the usual noodle and rice dishes we tend to order at Thai restaurants. The Yum Beef Salad was a nice contrast to everything else. Lots of beef with cucumber and herbs, and the brighter, tangier flavors helped break up some of the heavier dishes. One thing I especially appreciated was how accommodating they were with spice levels. My fiancée grew up eating Hong Kong-style food and her definition of spicy is basically... no spice . Some Thai restaurants say they can make something mild and it still comes out with enough heat that she can't really enjoy it. Check In actually listened. Her food came out genuinely mild without tasting bland, while the dishes we wanted with more heat could still be made accordingly. If you're dining with people who have very different spice tolerances, that's a big plus. And definitely get a Thai iced tea. Sweet, creamy, cold, and exactly what I wanted alongside the spicier and more savory dishes. We finished with the coconut pudding, which was a nice little sweet ending after ordering way too much food. The restaurant itself isn't huge, but it has a cozy, casual feel. Service was friendly, and considering how many different dishes we ordered, everything came out well. Overall, Check In Thai Cuisine is a really solid little Thai spot that would be easy to overlook from the outside. The biggest thing that would bring me back is the wok cooking. That smoky wok hei in the fried rice and gra paow was easily the highlight of the meal. If it were my first visit, I'd start with the Samui Fried Rice, Pad Gra Paow, and a Thai iced tea. Those were the winners for me. We'll definitely be back, especially since we're going to be spending more time around the Plymouth area. read more

Wish they had a zero stars for this one... sadly, this review is not how I anticipated it was going to be. We heard so many good things about this place and drove 45 minutes to get here. Was surprised how small it was on the inside, but it was cute. Started with steamed dumplings and fresh rolls. Loved the dumplings, the rolls were ok at best, too many greens, no vermicelli noodles... flavorless shrimp, just ok... Had the Shrimp and Chicken Pad Thai for my meal and it was really good. I left there thinking 4/5 stars. Well, after getting home and several hours passing the pains and uncontrollable "bathroom runs" were out of control. I was SO sick and uncomfortable. This persisted for hours. My leftovers went straight into the trash and sadly, we definitely won't be back. read more

Nice, clean, and decorative place. I came for lunch while on a work trip and ordered the fiery pad Thai. It wasn't too spicy at all and the food came out quickly. It's probably at a 5 or 6 level of spice on a 10 point scale. I also had the Thai iced tea which was tasty and refreshing. I might come back for dinner for another noodle dish. We stopped in cold and hungry after visiting Edaville and it did not disappoint! We had the shumai and scallion pancakes the portions and flavors were perfection. I know this might sound crazy because it's in a strip mall in Middleboro, but Check In Thai might be the best Thai restaurant I've ever been to. The inside is actually very nicely decorated, and it's small so it's never loud. The staff are super friendly and welcoming. I have never eaten anything that was less than perfect here. My One and I went here on a whim seeking a healthier option than our usual... You can't judge a book by its cover any more than you can judge a restaurant by its facade or location. Check In is on a blah road and has a blah facade but rest assured everything is A-OK on the inside. Very clean and decorated in a non-Thai but cohesive and simple bohemian/granola-type manner. Check In offers the usual Thai faire with nothing too mental but they did have soft-shell crab and other interesting stuff not always found at "the usual" Thai places. The waitress was wicked nice and low-volume soft pop music was playing. We kicked it off with the Thai Iced Tea which is always a crowd pleaser. They came in nice glasses with real flower garnish. The coup de gras was that the straw wrappers were "origamied" into little rose flowers. Very slick. My One got the 'Goons which were quite teenie but krisp and not the usual greasy Chinese type. These also had a flower garnish. Very light n' tasty and delicate. I ordered the Chicken and Beef Something or Other and asked for it extra spicy and my One got the Pad Thai Shrimp. My dish was quite copious and had TONS of meat nicely sliced in thin pieces and all hot n' fresh and nice veggies. Very good flavor. My One's Pad Thai was excellent and a copious portion to boot. The food is bland and tasteless as is the peanut sauce. The dumpling sauce is oversweetened. The meat is tasteless and not tender. The service is good and the restaurant is clean. However, compared to other Thai restaurants I've eaten in, Check-ln's food is not up to par. I've eaten there numerous times and it's been the same.
