the food was good and the hibachi chefs were so entertaining. However I can only give it two stars due to the wait staff. We were a large party and it was loud inside. So when my daughter didn't hear the waitress ask for her order she actually waved her hand right in my daughters face to get her attention. Then when my son had to go to the bathroom we were getting off our stools and another waitress (who wasn't holding anything) was behind us and actually pushed me and said "Go, Go!". Terrible portions for takeout!!! Still hungry after spending $30. This is a place for if you want to sit down at a bar drink and eat sushi but I don't recommend ordering takeout. I always drive past this place but today I had randomly decided to give it a try since I was hungry after work. I ordered shrimp fried rice with steak with sushi on the side. The shrimp was served on the side and they gave me the smallest piece of steak they could've found and even chopped it up for me. I hate writing this review but our last 5 or so experiences at Sakana have been awful. My family used to love celebrating special events here like the last day of school, birthdays, accomplishments, all the things, so we kept giving them another try and then another but enough is enough! The food quality has gone way down hill. Chicken is rubbery, steak is chewy (no noticeable difference with filet versus sirloin), the food is flavorless, always overcooked/dry and the portions are SMALL. You used to get enough food for a couple of meals, now you're lucky if you get 5 bite size pieces of protein with your meal. I ordered takeout recently and the food was inedible which prompted me to change my review. The worst part was that they overcharged me almost $8 after the order was taken and the original receipt was printed. Seemed a little sketchy to me that all of a sudden they went back into the order before I paid and changed a side order to a "large" which increased the price by $8. Doesn't make sense. I also called and emailed the owner about the inedible food that night and they never returned my call or responded. It's sad that this place has gone so downhill. I miss the old Sakana! Ten out of ten! Fiancé opted to sit at the bar and get a scorpion bowl. Collin our bartender was the best! He was super personable and poured drinks like a pro. We went off of his suggestions of his favorites for our sushi roll and appetizer and I am so glad we did. The raw salmon on my roll was fresh as can be and the roll itself was delish. We got the duck appetizer and you get a good amount and the duck was crispy. If that were offered in a bigger portion as an entree I would go back just for that. I got a cucumber crab kani salad to go because why wouldn't I ?! There were also so many fun people at the bar we made friends and will absolutely be back. . Perhaps this is our new regular spot ?! Good service. Food was fine. Nothing spectacular, though the beef skewers lacked flavor imo. Crab rangoons were solid. My brother and I each got the 2 maki roll lunch special. Rolls were average- no complaints. Bill was $50 including tip for the two of us and it should be noted that we only drank water. The bathroom had a terrible caulking job in between stalls! Hibachi was good. Chef was fun and interacted with our group. One negative I want to share was the way the bill was written. We know large groups are often added a tip. That's fine. However, the "total" in bold print included a gratuity already. Yet the bottom of the receipt stated the total with a 20% tip is $197. The suggested amount was ON TOP of the gratuity already included. We had also given our chef a $20 tip prior. No one else in our group even caught this until I told them . Sorry but in my opinion this is wrong. Check your bills. ( we did add up from their total to make it at least 20%. Their math was closer to 45%!) read more

We came here today around 5PM and were celebrating my dads 74th birthday. We've been to hibachi 1000 times and often see the same routine with the chef (which is cool) today however, the guy was spontaneous and definitely read the mood at our table. He was very upbeat and had his own routine that was fun and fresh! He didn't stop when he was finished cooking, instead he made very funny balloon hats for the boys at the table and a tiny dog for my daughter along with swords for the other boys that were seated with us. I haven't seen my father laugh that hard in a long time! Wish we got his name (I added a pic of him off of a video I took) for the next time we visit Sakana. Went on a Saturday night, had reservations for 6:30. The place was jam packed with teenagers waiting for hibachi tables. We were sat at a table for four right away which was good as they recognized our reservation. Food: Mai Tais were okay, a bit on the weak side (no 151 floater). Edamame was just ok, lacked sea salt. Sashimi was fine. We got a number of specialty rolls and they were pretty good all things considered. Minor gripe was the limited amount of wasabi they provided for all the rolls we ordered, needed to ask for more. Service: We seemed to have two different servers, which was confusing because they didn't coordinate with each other. They duplicated efforts with all of the food and drink ordering. Ambiance: Our table was right next to the door, which let a draft through every time the door was opened. They might want to add some addition protection for the tables in that section of the restaurant. The biggest thing was the noise level, which normally isn't a big deal for me, but we could hardly hear ourselves think. Overall: For what is effectively a hibachi and sushi restaurant, it's just ok. Nothing special that would drive me to choose it over other similar restaurants in the area. read more

Pricing for sister and myself was about $60-70 that's just for food and regular fountain drinks! They do offer a lunch menu during the week! I want to preface my review by saying I rarely give poor reviews. I have eaten sushi from Nobu in New York City and from my hometown Shaw's supermarket and everything in between. I can differentiate between the level of the two extremes and enjoy it for what it is. The sushi I had at this restaurant was bad. Like, "I'm unsure if I should take another bite because I'm bound to get food poisoning" bad. I was there in a Saturday afternoon - likely before their busiest night of the week so I'm assuming the'd have their freshest fish prepped for the dinner rush. It smelled like dead fish on the way to the ladies room. I also had some octopus salad that I thought would either end up like sunomono or maybe more like a grilled octopus salad. The sushi lunch special is the primary reason why I keep coming back...$13 for 3 rolls is a sushi steal. The fish is always fresh and they have a huge selection, more than what you would typically get for a lunch special ex. Shrimp tempura. The whole restaurant has a pretty cool vibe ranging from the fish tanks to the sinks in the bathroom. The decor is very upscale with a handful of Asian touches. I've always had amazing service there as they are all very attentive...the type of servers who never let your water glass get empty. I ate the sashimi and I threw up the sashimi. I literally rented the meal. My first and last meal at Sakana, needless to say...but I just did. That place: Sakana, Rt. 44, Raynham The Good: Rick Pessin And I had made plans to meet on Monday for an early supper but unfortunately there was a death in my family and I was not able to keep those plans. Long story short, we agreed to meet tonight on spur of the moment plans at Sakana. This place is located on route 44 , in Raynham, The old Ponderosa across from Shaws. I arrived before Rick so I went into use the facilities. The bathroom was unbelievable! I will add a picture to show you all the sink which I was amazed with. I have to be honest, I was very nervous because I was not sure what to expect with the Teppniyaki Hibachi. Boy, was I in for a treat! Rick walked me through how we would order and this young man named Brandon came over and started the show. He was funny, engaging and wow, could he cook! He actually made a volcano out of onions! It makes me look at onions a whole new way LOL I opted for the scallop and chicken combination and Rick went for the scallop and shrimp. This also comes with noodles, rice and vegetables. Everybody's food gets cooked together and served together all while being very well entertained! Rick got a Mai Tai and I got Gingerale. Okay, 2 of them but that's my limit because I'm driving LOL This comes with a very clear soup that's mildly seasoned and had a little bit of onion and mushroom in it. It also came with a small salad which consisted of a lot of lettuce, one tomato, and one cucumber. It had a very delectable dressing which almost tasted like a carrot ginger dressing but I couldn't be sure. It was wonderful whatever it was. We were seated with 4 young service people from the Army. One of the women, it was her birthday and they were celebrating. We had such an enjoyable time with them! Birthday girl even came over and gave me a big hug. I absolutely love what they did with her. They brought over some sort of dish of ice cream with a bunch of whipped cream with this gigantic sparkler sticking out of it! The waitress came behind her and covered her eyes and in the meantime grabbed a bunch of whipped cream and wiped it on the girl's mouth BUT this girl got up grab some whipped cream and chased the waitress got her back LOL This place is super clean, excellent service, and the food is cooked and seasoned so perfectly, that I literally could eat here just about every day.
