The breading on the onion rings and the fish and chips was so thick and had a strange seasoning for the fish. But super super thick. The plates were very small and barely caught the grease coming out of the burgers. Unfortunately, we won't be coming back.

If you're heading to Danny's Burger Shack, just know one thing up front, there might be a wait. But…read moreafter trying both the PB & J Burger and the Sweet Heat Burger... yeah, it's worth it. The PB & J Burger sounds wild on paper, but it absolutely works. The peanut butter brings that rich, savory creaminess, and paired with the jalapeño jelly, it hits this perfect sweet-with-a-kick balance that keeps every bite interesting. It's one of those burgers that makes you stop after the first bite like, "okay... this is legit." The Sweet Heat Burger leans even more into that flavor combo. The sweetness comes through first, then the heat builds, and that jalapeño jelly really ties it all together, adding both sweetness and a subtle spice that doesn't overpower the burger itself. It's bold, messy in the best way, and just really well executed. Neither of these quite cracked my personal #1 burger of all time, but they're not far off. Both were seriously delicious, packed with flavor, and easily worth trying if you're in the area.

My burger was good and meaty but light on seasonings. My tater tots were just plain bad. Overcooked, smaller than normal tots, and crumbling apart in the bag. We also went with the ONION RING TOWER which consists of onion rings served with ranch or Cajun horseradish dipping sauce. The Cajun is the way to go. Flaming hot to say the least and not for the faint of heart. I selected the JALAPEÑO CREAM CHEESE Burger, which is a prime Wagyu beef patty topped with jalapeño cream cheese spread, peppered bacon, and pepper jack cheese on a brioche bun. It was moist cooked just right with a light sear. Perfection. My wife opted for the SICKIES BURGER which is a burger topped with Peppered bacon, fried egg, pulled pork, BBQ sauce, and American cheese, topped with onion rings and a splash of hot sauce. We conclude with one of their shakes, and they have several options to choose from, Banana, Butterscotch, Chocolate, Coffee, Oreo®, Raspberry, Strawberry, and Vanilla. I went with the Raspberry and my wife sent with the Oreo. Both were very filling. The staff is very accommodating and attentive that matched with a 1950s dinner vibe, it is a relaxing welcoming environment and this both enjoyable and comfortable. Burger night (Mondays?) is $2 off the specialty burgers, and I recommend that Diablo Burger if you like a little heat. The cheese burgers were the special, so I opted for one of those with fries + the "my girlfriend isn't hungry" add of a couple chicken strips and some extra fries. The burger was perfect, but I've gotta say...for being a place called *Burg* and Barrel, their chicken strips are the best. They're juicy, the breading is fantastic, and they're always just really high quality. I added a little sriracha myself just to give it some extra kick, but the burger was already really good on its own. I was also way too excited to see chili cheese tots on the menu, and they actually gave me chili cheese tots--not some sad fast-food version. The tots were nicely cooked and golden brown, with actual chili and plenty of melted cheese on top. Definitely beats anything you're getting from a fast-food place. I did carryout, so I can't really speak to the atmosphere inside, but based on the food alone, this place delivers. They have their regular menu plus different daily specials, and after these two items I'm genuinely excited to go back and work my way through some of the other burgers and specials.
