I said I'd be back after a shower and change of clothes, but it had been a long day with a drive from Rosharon and a 3.1-mile walk each way from/to my motel and Bluff Schuetzenfest, so cracked a beer, microwaved some food and hit the rack. I also "did" Texas Independence in Washington-on-the-Brazos, the fall of The Alamo in San Antonio and the San Jacinto Battlefield earlier in the year. I don't intend to repeat those in 2024, but I'm very seriously considering a return to La Grange and this place is on my short list of "places to go, things to do and people to see." And this time, after dark, too.
