The music was mostly 1960s and 1970s, as I recall, which is right in MY senior wheelhouse. The young lady tending bar was cordial, the price of beer was reasonable and the concert posters on the walls were nostalgic. After the nice folks left, I was alone with the barkeep, but she told me that things get going on Saturday night, although there was no live entertainment that evening. I said I'd be back after a shower and change of clothes, but it had been a long day with a drive from Rosharon and a 3.1-mile walk each way from/to my motel and Bluff Schuetzenfest, so cracked a beer, microwaved some food and hit the rack. I also "did" Texas Independence in Washington-on-the-Brazos, the fall of The Alamo in San Antonio and the San Jacinto Battlefield earlier in the year. I don't intend to repeat those in 2024, but I'm very seriously considering a return to La Grange and this place is on my short list of "places to go, things to do and people to see."
