A pigeon respecting our space

Despite what I've read here, our experience was nice. Great snow crab, plump shrimp, fresh sushi, delicious asparagus, tasty oysters; we really enjoyed just about everything. Only a few items were meh, which is subjective. Not a huge buffet. Nice setting with available outdoor seating. Service was excellent. Ridiculous price, though!

There are two kinds of buffets. The first is where quantity is the attraction. The second is where the food convinces you to forget you're at a buffet. At over $100 a person, I expected this to be the second. We came here to celebrate Father's Day, my birthday and our anniversary. For an occasion like that, expectations are naturally a little higher. The setting is undeniably beautiful. Watching the sun set over Waikiki with live music in the background is the experience you'd hope for. If you're paying for atmosphere, this place delivers. The food was much more uneven. The sushi was surprisingly one of the strongest parts of the meal. Fresh, well made and worth going back for. I also appreciated that the shrimp cocktail was properly cleaned and cooked. Desserts across the buffet were mostly forgettable, but the complimentary anniversary/birthday cake they surprised us with was genuinely excellent and a thoughtful touch. The disappointments were unfortunately the items most people come here for. The prime rib looked beautiful but ate tougher than expected. Even the rarer slices lacked that buttery texture you hope for and the au jus was so thin it tasted more like seasoned water than a proper jus. The snow crab was the biggest letdown of the evening. It was overwhelmingly salty, to the point where the natural sweetness of the crab disappeared almost entirely. After a few legs, I simply stopped eating it. Service landed somewhere in the middle. The hosts seemed a little disorganized when we arrived and there was some confusion around our reservation. Our server was polite enough, but the experience felt transactional rather than warm. Drinks occasionally sat empty longer than they should have and for a meal at this price point, those little details start to matter. I left thinking this wasn't a bad buffet. It just wasn't a memorable one. For the money, I expected ingredients that spoke for themselves rather than a buffet built around volume. The view is wonderful. The sushi is legitimately good. But if the highlights of your buffet are supposed to be prime rib and crab, those need to be exceptional not the weakest part of the meal. I'm glad we tried it, but I don't think I'd choose it again for another celebration.

Made an easy online reservation last minute for our anniversary and had the absolute best time! We were greeted by a friendly hostess and sat ocean side with the most beautiful view! Our waitress, Pam was so sweet and attentive and made our night so special! (Thank you, Pam)!! The food was great for a buffet in my opinion! They had a great selection of good quality seafood. For $90/person you really do want to get your moneys worth and between the crab legs, oysters, prime rib and assortment of fresh fish you do!!

We spent my birthday meal here and I was so ecstatic! First, this place gets really crowded really fast. I strongly recommend making a reservation. Second, the options are more limited but the quality of the food is really good especially if you are here for seafood and meat. The vibe is nice too - more intimate with smaller tables. Not much of a group setting but great for couples. My favorites: Snow Crab!!!!: it was so fresh and succulent. You can grab a cracker and a tool to take it out but honestly it comes out super easily. It was perfect with butter but honestly didn't even need it because it was so juicy. Would go again to eat crab. Galbi: Freshly grilled and perfectly marinated! The smell is always wafting throughout the hotel because of the open air atmosphere but it was so good. Galbi in Hawaii tends to be sweeter than what I'm used ot but you can't beat freshly grilled galbi. Sashimi/Sushi/Poke: All were good! Not my favorites of the night was still good. The sashimi was the best part, the sushi and poke were just okay. Honestly, I loved these 3 items so much that I would love to come back just for them!

The buffet is a little bit hard to find. It's located in the Hyatt but all the way towards the top and top the back so it can be confusing. I had to ask someone for directions to get there. If you plan on coming make sure to make reservations otherwise you may not be able to get in. I didn't have one but told them I'm willing to sit at the bar, luckily she said she had a table but it was right at the front by the podium. I didn't mind. At first it doesn't look that big but they have several areas they can seat people. It was loud but not too noisy. I was seated right across a group visiting from Japan so it was entertaining to watch them drink and eat. My server was really nice, addressed me by my first name and came by often. I made sure to tip him well. There are several stations to get food from so you'll have to walk to different places. The roast and cutting station is closer to where you check in, seafood, sushi, and crab kind of near it, then you have the cold buffet area and a separate salad, fruit, and dessert area. The quality of the food and seafood was really good. I will totally come back. Really good deal of you get da discount.

Omg love this place! Came here for me and my bf's anniversary and my mom's birthday recently. If you reserve online there's a cancellation fee. I can't remember how much it is but I think it's around $35 if you don't show up. I haven't tried walking in but I'm sure you can. It's never really packed. I love the food choices, you have Hawaiian food, Korean food, seafood, crab legs, oysters and even a self serve ice cream spot. They also have a hand roll station! I'm not too big on crab legs but for anyone that loves that, this is definitely the spot! If you're celebrating something they do provide a cake or something that says happy birthday/anniversary! Which is really sweet of them. The waiters are super sweet and kind. The first time we went, our waiter had a German accent and he was amazing! The second time we went, our waiter took our picture and even set up the scene for us which is so awesome. It's partly outdoor and indoor, and I love the outdoor seating area because it's more of a vibe. It can be warm so dress lightly. I would say super casual is the dress code. But my family likes to dress up for special occasions. Parking can be an issue. When my bf and I came, we self parked and it was an adventure to find the place. When we came for my mom's birthday, it was a weekday so there was a line for valet, self park was full and we were scared we were running late so my bf stayed with the car until they were able to valet. So plan ahead if you're going to do that. 10/10 recommend and would definitely come back!

We had such a wonderful experience. The food was exceptional and our server, Jun, was so attentive. We went to celebrate my birthday and because we made note of that on our reservations they had a WONDERFUL table with the best view of Waikiki Beach for us. In addition to the celebratory slice of cake they gave (so good!), Jun himself gifted me a beverage to say "Happy Birthday"! So nice of him and I was so appreciative! We can't wait for another reason to celebrate and go again! The 20% discount for Kamaina was great, and they validate self parking for up to 2 hours! They also validate vallet parking for $15. So don't forget to ask for both.

Saw a lot of mixed reviews for this buffet but wanted to try it out to see for myself. We just booked a reservation ahead of time and it was super easy to check-in. I'd say that the food was all decent if you're paying the kama'aina price (~$60 per person), especially if you eat a ton of the expensive food. However, I feel like if you're a tourist paying the full price, I can see that it would feel super overpriced for what you're getting. I personally wouldn't pay ~$80 for it either. My personal favorites were the rosé tteokbokki dish at the Korean station and the crème brûlée. I'm not a huge fan of crab legs, but I tried some and they were actually pretty good. At least when we went, they weren't too salty at all which I saw a few people complain about in other reviews. The oysters were also delicious and I loved that they had a big bucket of mignonette for them too. One disappointing thing though is that drinks are an additional charge. For $60/$80 per person, drinks should be included. Overall, not sure if I'll be back anytime soon but definitely worth checking out at least once I feel like. For parking there's a self park option or you can pay for valet. When we went, self-park was full so we had to do valet but they ended up just giving us valet for free which was nice of them.

We came here for an early Father's Day dinner. We were seated outside with the view of Waikīkī Beach. While the view was beautiful during sunset. There were a lot of birds trying to feed our fed the scrap. Whenever some left their table unattended to get more food the birds would flock the table. -Food selection was pretty good. Kalbi, fish with ponzu, and the seafood chowder were my favorite. -Liked that they had a selection of nigiri and hand rolls to choose from. -Prime rib was good, only down side was more than half of it was fat. -Crab legs were on the salty side. -I was expecting more salad options. -Lots of dessert options. Loved the crème brûlée. They even had different topping for the soft serve. Wait staff was very nice. They were moving all over the place keeping up with the rush. Our server made sure our drinks were never empty. Free parking with validation. 25% off Kamaaina. Overall not bad.

Karsten was an excellent server and was attentive to all of our needs. The ladies that checked us in were personable and friendly. The food was amazing as always and valet, Nash, gave us friendly customer service at drop off and pick up. We will most definitely return to this wonderful hotel, restaurant and buffet! Hats off to your amazing team! Well done!

Date night done right. We don't usually do buffets like this, our usual go-to is the hometown spot with $16.95 all-you-can-eat, MSG-infused comfort food. But for date night, we dressed up and went for it at The Buffet at the Hyatt... and wow. That was seriously good. Like, we don't normally eat like this kind of good. Highlights? All-you-can-eat snow crab legs, oysters, shrimp, and prime rib? Yes, please. But the real stars for me were the fresh poke (ahi tuna) and the sushi that was super fresh, flavorful, and clearly made with care. And let's talk desserts. They had an amazing chocolate fountain with all the fixings for fondue: strawberries, brownies, marshmallows, the works. The tiramisu slices were soft, rich, and on point. But the real winner? The haupia. Creamy, coconutty, and absolutely divine. We kept going back for more. Easily our favorite dessert of the night. While reviews online have been mixed, we left completely satisfied and happily full. The ocean view was stunning, and our server was incredibly attentive: plates gone, water topped off, no fuss. Would I return? No doubt about it. Might even bring the extended family next time!

The sunset from the buffet.

First and foremost, I want to preempt my review by stating the staff were very helpful and friendly. With that said, here is my review of the rest of my experience. The ambiance is stunning with a beach view. The sunset was spectacular. Now, on to the food. They have prime rib, snow crab, and oysters on the half shell as the stars. The prime rib was good, cooked well with horseradish and au jous available. Oysters were fresh and tasty with a vinegar sauce available. Now, for the major disappointment, The crab were large and looked good. One bite, and I felt like I bit in to a Himalayan salt block. It was so salty to the point of being inedible. The sides were just ok. They also had Korean short ribs which were tender, but, tasted like they had been marinated for a week. Salty and way over seasoned. My wife and I were very unimpressed. Finally, the cost...2 adults, 1 adult beverage for my wife came up to $200! Outrageous! I tipped our waitress $40 as it really wasn't her fault and she was very attentive and friendly. $250 bucks for 2? Never again. Avoid this place at all costs!

I was told that for Crab legs, Thursday Friday and Saturday are best but especially Thursday and best to pick the 5-7 pm window for best selection. It was busy but not crazy busy. We grabbed our plates and checked out what they had. It's an impressive spread of high quality items. Crab legs were plentiful and very good quality. Prime rib station was carving fresh and they also had a fried pork they were carving too. They had poke, sushi rolls, sashimi, clam linguine, fresh fish filets, shrimp, fried oysters to name a few. Dessert bar had some nice items too, including bread pudding. Plenty of fresh fruits and salads too. The waiters took our drink order as soon as we sat back down. Those who got water received countless refills. The staff is on top of refills of water and taking empty plates. Very classy operation. Well managed. We were so stuffed at the end. We didn't make the full 2 hours. Everything was top notch. Try a little of everything instead of just gorging on crab legs (some will do that no matter what). It's all good! Great selection. Friendly and attentive service. Beautiful location. Highly recommend. And as our friend recommended, "don't eat lunch" before eating there for dinner. Boy was he right!

I see the new huge poster out front, every time I stop at the bakery next door, the family meal with 6 items sounds great, reasonable. I decided to make it easy for me with few stops to grab this for Super Bowl Sunday. I called that morning to place my order. There are no photos of the family set on Yelp so Your welcome, if you decide to order this set, Please think twice, it sounds like a great deal but not. I/my family was very disappointed. I picked the 6 items, now keep in mind it says "Family Meal Deal" when you get your items, family - ? don't think it will be enough to feed your family depending on how many is in your family. I got the 6 items for $55.95 and paid $8. for Chow fun. The 6 item choice I picked were : fish filet ( got the wrong order) roast duck, string beans, ginger chicken, sweet sour pork, and chicken wings. What a surprise when I opened up the bag to set up for our Super Bowl spread, they were cute little take out containers like the kind you would use for leftovers at the Chinese restaurant. They weren't even filled to the top. It was little like sample dishes. Wow. also the food did not taste fresh, all the food I got tasted like they were reheated, except for the chicken wings. The chow fun was a regular portion but it was on the oily side. I hope Hawaii99 Take Out Express takes down the huge poster in front, its very misleading and false advertisement.
