"There is always time for a stache wax at The Brow Studio!" At least that is what Jillian said when I inquired yesterday morning about a spur of the moment brow and lip wax in between meetings. And not only did she say that, but she delivered! 20 minutes later, I sat in her chair and got my face all cleaned up... Jillian was super sweet and did an excellent job doing some maintenance on my brows and cleaning up my lip. I'd go so far as saying she is meticulous in a good way. She even has this wonderful soft hand pillow that she uses so that her hand is not constantly rubbing up against your face as she works. I'd never experienced that before and I loved it. I left TBS feeling like a new woman! If I lived in Calgary, I'd likely be a loyal customer of TBS / Jillian. She must be doing something right as she's been working there for almost 10 years! I highly recommend paying Jililan a visit if you're in need of any facial hair removal. I usually go to the Auburn Bay location but Jillian was sick so I decided to stop in here on my lunch break. Located on the bottom level of fashion central it can be a bit hard to find if you're not sure where you're looking. The location has the signature brand color on the walls and four stations for clients. My brow stylist was super friendly and did my maintenance with skill and precision. I've been to the Brow Studio twice now and seen Noelle both times. My first appointment was for the full consultation and my second was for the brow maintenance. The studio is clean, quiet and relaxing. And there is a giant bowl of chocolates at the front that I always make sure to sample! Noelle has incredible attention to detail and is truly a brow expert. During the consultation, I explained that I wanted fuller-looking brows with more of an arch. Even after the first appointment, I left feeling like my brows looked thicker! At the second appointment, Noelle was still aware of my goal for fuller brows and was very cautious about removing too much. The combination of tweezing and waxing is working well. I waited 4 weeks in between appointments and felt like I probably could have even waited another week or so. read more

As a teen growing up in the 90's, I went through a grunge phase and tweezed my eyebrows a la Drew Barrymore. Fortunately hers grew back. Mine were not so fortunate and I've struggled to grow them back for many years. Then I met Jillian and was put on Brow Boot Camp - no tweezing or plucking between waxes - and my brows are finally starting to fill in. Jillian is on mat leave right now, but Noelle has taken over for her at their new location in Fashion Central. I'm finally getting compliments on my eyebrows! Before the Brow Studio, the closet thing I got to a compliment was one particularly nasty cow working at MAC in the Bay downtown calling them sperms and hockey sticks (I hope she enjoyed being unemployed after that comment.) I found 'The Brow Studio' using Yelp and am I ever glad I did. Visited the studio this past week for my first appointment. Noelle was my consultant and she is an absolutely delightful professional - what a lovely gal. I am new to Calgary and Noelle was so sweet and helpful through our conversation as we chatted. She is incredibly thorough in her work and explained the whole process to me in a way that I have never heard before. I have an entirely new outlook on eyebrows! I am excited to go back over the next few months and see what improvements we can make to my brows. Thank you Noelle. Friendly staff to walk into. Clean and cute interior. I went for a "brow design intro" my first visit. My stylist was very welcoming and pleasant. Wanted to know my thoughts and brow journey and what I was looking for. All these things I appreciated and she did a very clean and precise job. I however was expecting for the price and conversation with the receptionist when I made the initial appointment a little more. You're told to expect a 40 min visit (mine was about 20) and that you would be given a while brow consultation, tutorial, what's best for your face... I didn't feel I'd received this part of the service. So while I agree she did a good job. Was patient and made me feel comfortable. I guess it wasn't that extra something special I was hoping for. When your a stay at home mom you find yourself really looking forward to these little treats. Fell just a star short. On Stephen ave downstairs from David's tea, the train is the best transist to take Last appt taken at 5:20. They should post the hours on their website!! read more

I'm not one to write negative reviews, but it's been 3 days and I'm still not impressed. Booked an appointment for "Brow Design - First Time Threading Clients" it was supposed to be from 2:40-3:20. I was out of there by 2:50. Did not have a consultation or anything mindbody said this offers. Anita cleaned around my brows and when I told her I've never had my brows threaded before and that I had an idea of what I wanted she disregarded what I said and continued doing what she wanted. I was charged $40 for their $20 service. Friends have made comments that my brows look exactly the same. Booked an appointment at a different salon. read more

I had my brows done here on Friday, after reading the Yelp reviews about the studio. It was fairly easy to find and I was able to land a parking spot in the lot behind Fashion Central, so that was a plus. It was a neat and bright studio and Kim, who worked on my brows, was extremely thorough. She spent her time making sure they were just right (although left some growth for them to fill out) while we chatted. I also watched her apply brow powder and ended up purchasing some afterwards and I love it! It's pretty expensive compared to the places I usually go for brow waxes, but to make sure they do it right, it's worth it. I found out the have a studio in Mission so I will likely return there for maintenance appointments. read more

Brittany did an amazing job on my brows. She always listens to my wants and explains how we can continue to keep my brows looking amazing. I was nervous to tint my brows as I previously was scared with black brows that took forever to fade. The Brow Studio has recently changed their business model from being a part of the pricey yet interesting Quorra Cosmetic stores on 17th ave (location now closed) and Bankers Hall. They now have two small stand-alone locations in Mission and the bottom floor of Fashion Central, which I quite like. The studio in Fashion Central is new, and small, but tasteful and pleasant. I was greeted courteously and checked-in for my appointment while Terri (awesome brow expert) was finishing up with another client. There's a tiny waiting area with two comfy chairs and some magazines. They were still in the process of setting up the entire studio as of early December 2011. Right now there is just one waxing chair. But the lighting is good and decor promising. Now, the service. I've always seen Terri (for about a year, now). She is super sweet and very talented! She listens to your requests and I've always been happy with the end-result. My brows have always been symmetrical, clean, easy to maintain, and appropriate for my face and structure. 100% happy. Be aware that your very first visit will cost you $35, and subsequent visits $25. They offer other services such as tinting, and lip waxing. They also have a small selection of tweezers and brow maintenance products. One thing that they used to do at Quorra but not at the new location is offer to apply concealer afterwards to cover any redness from waxing. So bring your own for afterwards! You'll want it, especially if you plan on browsing the other boutiques in Fashion Central afterwards! Update: They now are back to offering concealer after waxing! read more

As a child of divorce, I was afraid to commit to someone whose whole job is tearing my hairy-face-union apart. That was until I met Noelle at the Fashion Central location! She made me instantly comfortable and took part in my sarcastic banter while she pressed on through my Eugene Levy caterpillars. Noelle was very thorough and made it super not-weird to lay there with your eyes shut by talking about the procedures and discussing choice gossip of my choosing (because she's an angel and makes you feel like the best thing since cats on the Internet). When they're done with your face, they slather you in makeup so you can strut around Downtown Calgary just being your bad self without all the redness and whatnot. If you want to look like a way-hotter Cyndi Lauper with magnificent brows that could leave you at any time but stay with you because you've been through so much together, go to The Brow Studio in Fashion Central. I've seen Noelle for the initial appointment and for one maintenance meeting so far and I'd recommend her if you're into sweet brows and an ego pump. read more

Oh. I love that place. Terri is amazing. When they moved to the new place in fashion central, I tried another place and the girl did such a bad job... When they finally called me, I was the happiest girl in town. They charge a little more than other places, but after having uneven eyebrows, wax all over my hair and laying on a dirty chair, I don't care paying a little extra for having an amazing professional service like Terri offers. Very very pleased with the results. The excellent service and creativity these women have is well worth the money you'll spend. I've been trying to find ways to "raise" low set eyebrows and have been looking at all alternatives including semi permanent tattoo and/or Botox. These ladies listened to my concerns and understood them and found a way, through a combination of tinting sparse baby blonde hairs and eyebrow powder to create the illusion of "higher" eyebrows. I was quite skeptical at first ( as I've been trying to find solutions for this for months) but I like my eyebrows a lot now! I cancelled my semi permanent tattoo appt. and saved a lot of money by going here. Yes - although they are on the higher end of the price spectrum for the services they provide, it's absolutely justifiable. For a tint and brow shaping I paid around 60$ (if I recall correctly) .. I also bought the brow powder for another 20$. Worth the Price - they are experts! read more

I had microblading with Dayna. I wish I could say it was amazing, because I was really looking forward to having my dream brows. I knew what I wanted and brought in pictures. Mainly I wanted the brows lighter in the inner corners, which Dayna said she could do by spacing the lines father a part. And I didn't want them too dark. In the end I would say my brows make my face "harsh" looking. They seem like one solid brow (untapered), and not natural. They are also subtly different shapes. The colour Dayna chose is good and close to my natural colour (a positive). However I wouldn't do it again. Dayna was a really nice person and the Brow Studio was clean and professional. read more

This place is great. My advice? Don't touch your eyebrows for 2 months and then go see Terri Brown at the Brow Studio. The studio is lovely, downstairs in the Fashion Central building (below David's Tea). Terri started by handing me a mirror and asking me about my preferences, which was really nice. We talked about areas that still needed to fill out (thanks to an overzealous threader a few months ago), where my arch should be, etc. Once she got to work waxing, tweezing and snipping, the process was quick and painless. Bonus: at the end, she showed me how to use powder to fill in areas that were sparse. I probably won't use it every day, but it's nice to know I can have dramatic brows for special occasions. I would give this place 5 stars because Terri was friendly, professional and very skilled, but the price was outrageous. Once I added tip, it came to $45 for an eyebrow waxing. I probably won't go here for regular brow maintenance because of the cost, but if you've got some issues, these are the professionals you should trust with your face's most important accessory. read more

Quick, careful and great results. It's been nearly 2 months since my first appointment with Noelle and my brow shape (wax and tweeze) is still holding and the lash tint is beginning to wear off. Those results are worth every dollar. Noelle was super sweet, explained everything she was doing, and took my opinion and personal tips seriously (hey, I've been dealing with this face for 30 years!). After reading the rest of the reviews, I wonder if I went to the same place! I did not have a good experience with Terri at all, and I felt like she mocked me a number of times due to the state of my eyebrows (which were in a bad state due to treatment for an illness that I am currently recovering from). My girlfriend suggested that I go here, but she had also mentioned she felt it had been slightly going downhill for the past few months. I would never go back there. I was hoping they would be professionals and able to provide advice on the "atypical eyebrow", but I was totally wrong. I felt pretty horrible after I left that place! read more

I had my eyebrows shaped and tinted today at The Brow Studio and I am thrilled with the results. I am extremely picky about grooming and esthetics. I was somewhat hesitant about having my brows done, after having two eyebrow disasters in the past (one where they were waxed to oblivion and the other a horrible tattoo). My brows had become a mess, so I needed professional help. I read good reviews about The Brow Studio so I thought I would check them out. Janet is BRILLIANT - if I could give her 10 stars I would. I went to the Brow studio a few months ago based on the overwhelmingly positive reviews from this site. Unfortunately my experience was not the greatest. I did not have a particular specialist work on my eyebrows as I made the assumption of believing that they all should be good based on the cost of getting your eyebrows waxed. My brows were done by a newer specialist in the field who was very nice but she did not really give me a shape with wax, rather she filled in my brows using a pencil (my brows were full so this was weird). By the time I had washed my face for the evening I noticed that my brows really did not have much of a shape at all. My thoughts are that if a new brow specialist is on the floor with clients that they should be charge lower fees until they have made up a certain amount of hours, similar to hair styling. In general I find the prices to be quite high. read more

I went to The Brow Studio yesterday after reading a ton of great reviews. I was hoping to see Noelle because most of the reviews I read were of her, but she only works Wednesday to Friday and I could only go on Tuesday so I ended up seeing Jillian. I was super anxious since the last time I let someone do my brows, they ended up looking like sharpie lines that were far too short and uneven, they were just hideous. But I'd grown out my brows for 4 months and it was time. The Brow Studio was located to the right of David's Tea, downstairs. The studio was literally a studio, super small and cute but not much privacy. Jillian was amazing! She's been doing brows for 10 years! She had a finger pillow that I had read about, she said she picked it up from being a make up artist, it was used so that her fingers wouldn't constantly rub against my face. The wax barely hurt, and although my first appointment was very long because she had to shape my brows, it was worth the wait. My brows are great now! I never knew that someone with such thin hair like myself could have such beautiful brows. My first appointment cost $35 but I gave her a total of $40. I'll be coming back soon and I'm looking forward to only paying $25 because after the 1st appointment, everything else is cheaper. For the price, I'm not sure if my brows were worth paying almost $50, but I definitely love them and they are just so natural. I look forward to seeing Jillian again. read more
