I lost a lot a few years ago due to chronic health issues one of which affected my nervous system for years. In the past being unaware, I would try to go to dance but brain issues prevented me from being fully present in it, and finally I gave up when it got worse. As I found out my issues, I began healing and decided to return to dancing as a way to continue that. And now, as my body has started to regained health I can finally enjoy it. Salsa salsa gave me a place to go after I lost a lot. It gave me friends and a community and such wonderful, kind instructors that unknowingly are helping me heal. Very grateful for it.

I really gave it my all over at that studio but no matter how hard I tried, I was never encouraged by Miss Sofian in anyway. During that period, she taught no choreography whatsoever except to a group that she hand-picked from students that came to her classes. She had a very good warm-up but I never understood that I was not being taught how to dance to her music. I just remember her now as a very cruel teacher and person. I now have taught a class for the past six years and would never treat any of my students is I was treated by her. I am encouraging to everyone, kind and patient.

Aside from the aesthetic, I found some of the stories wildly outdated in a slightly harmful way. One story that was shown to a group of toddlers had a fight over the ownership of a girl (never explicitly stated but not subtle either). The evil character won the battle and now the girl toy was his against her will. I don't think I have to point out what's wrong with that. The toys were also pretty mean to each other. Hoping all this went over her head but we won't be back to expose her to more stories like this.

Kids are encouraged to sit on rugs in front of the stage, while adults and other kids can also sit on the sides and back of the event space. Dozens of beautiful, colorful marionettes of all sizes hang from the wall, giving the impression that they are also part of the audience. The performance itself is professionally curated: the story, the voices, the sound effects, the music, the scenery, and the lights. Artistic Director Nicolas Coppola and his crew clearly put a lot of passion in their work, and it shows in the production. I was definitely impressed. Kids loved it, of course, with lots of active participation during the show. Plus, at the end of the show, Mr. Coppola came out of the stage with a marionette for the kids to meet. Since 1980 Puppetworks offer fun entertainment for kids and family in the neighborhood. Tickets are currently $10 for children, and $11 for adult. One of the best things I like about the school is the fact that there are no recitals. They learn technique, how to dance, not just enough steps to get through a few minutes on stage. The other parents are GREAT we all work together to do fund raisers for this not for profit organization. This school does a lot of charity work. The children in the theatre dance class put on a performance once a month for the seniors and children who cannot afford tution are never turned away. There are many scholorships availible. The director is attentive to the children and truley cares for them. If you get out of your car and socialize with everyone you would know that it isnt clickish. The reason that she doesnt want people parking in front is because security gives tickets to those cars. If she catches you out there she usually says something.
