Everyone we encountered who worked there was so nice. Inside Fear Manor was fantastic! So spooky and fun! Lots of jump scares and unexpected things around corners. A creepy girl follows you all the way through which adds to the experience. They also have a very cool swamp effect in one of the rooms that you have to see. It's hard to even explain. You wander from room to room and every one of them is scary and great. The actors are terrific. They even respond to things you say and always stay in character. We didn't have to wait in line very long but even that was enjoyable because there is a creepy DJ playing great music that really sets the mood. An actor even showed up there on a gurney just staring at us while we waited. It was great. All in all we had a wonderful time and will definitely do it again before they close!

Featuring a testament to the creativity and spirit of New Yorkers. This is a family friendly parade, but be prepared for the loud music, and noise. I have personally enjoyed the most incredible time watching the parade for many years which is a spooky jamboree, and it's an experience I can't recommend enough. Truly unlike any other parade. The vibe is fun, and electric, expect a massive crowd to be lined up along Sixth Avenue. Seeing the sheer number of people with wild, creative, and inventive costumes, from giant puppets to intricate monster makeup, was exciting. The highlight will be seeing the dedicated group of "Thriller" dancers performing the iconic moves. The energy from both the marchers and the cheering crowds on the sidelines will be fun. While it will be crowded. The police always do a great job managing the flow, and everyone was in high spirits. For anyone considering it, I highly suggest marching in costume over just watching. Being inside the parade, surrounded by music, artists, and fellow revelers, is an unforgettable feeling. This is a must-do event for anyone who loves Halloween and wants to experience a truly magical night in NYC. NYPD will have barricades in place, along the parade route on Sixth Avenue. The date and time will be Halloween night (October 31), from 7pm to 11pm How to get to the parade. Mass transportation is the best way and the following are trains that will get you to the start of the parade route; Take the C or E to Spring St.; A, B, C, D, E, F or M to West 4th St.; 1 to Houston St. or Christopher St.; or 1, 2, 3, A, C, E, F or M to 14th St, walk to Sixth Avenue and you will be along the parade route. If you wish to participate in the Halloween parade you need to be in costume, to take part. There is no registration or fee. The coolest part of the parade and one of many big highlights is the Thriller Dance, performed by a dedicated group who duplicate all the moves from the Michael Jackson "Thriller" video. The cops will make damn sure they block off any route on foot or by wheels to that Sixth Avenue path from Canal to 23rd or wherever. They're thinking of our safety. Oh yeah? What if something bad happens? Forget about escape as you're crushed with your fellow young liberal non-white fun-seekers against the steel barricades. And Jill Sobule who was killed a house fire May 1, 2025 when her friends didn't even try to save her, lived on during the night in my mind. She wrote a song about girls simply dressing slutty isn't actually a costume. Got that right. In the Village, that rule applies to everyone. Streets crowded and teeming with drunks all in the thick miasma of the stench of weed made me wake up to the fact that I wasn't there to see the Parade per se but parked near the Holland Tunnel and was walking to the Blue Note to see Robert Glasper and had to find a way to cross Sixth. Took forever. And the dingy, trashy atmosphere didn't help. Watched vids of a Michael Jackson Thriller dance routine as the pinnacle act of the parade and it was sad. Guess anything in the public eye is forgivable if you help drunks dance. Maybe I'll go next year dressed as the Ghost of Free Talking.

People that live therebact like it's the greatest damn thing that ever happened to Brooklyn, but honestly, it looks and sounds like a pile of rickety lumber that's ready to collapse into the Atlantic Ocean, but I still love it anyway. ​It's been sitting on Surf Avenue since 1927. Some guy named Vern Keenan designed it, and it cost around $100,000 back then, which was a ridiculous amount of money in the twenties. They say Charles Lindbergh rode it before flying across the Atlantic and claimed it was more thrilling than flying a plane, which is probably a lie, but it sounds dramatic enough for tourists. ​The ride itself lasts less than two minutes, but it feels like you're being beaten up by a gang of angry lumberjacks. You plunge down an 85-foot drop at nearly 60 miles an hour, and the whole wooden structure creaks like it's going to break in half. People scream like they're being murdered the entire time. ​It's an official New York City landmark, so I guess you have to respect it for staying alive since the Calvin Coolidge administration. Give it four stars for being a tough old piece of history, even if the rattling almost shook my teeth loose.

The cyclone is the expected rickety, rackety original coaster. It gave us a thrilling ride. We went on a very busy Saturday, but the weight was not too long. The tickets are $10 per person. Make sure to check height requirements before you arrive with your kids. There are signs that they do not allow for you to wait for the front or backseat but if your really adamant about it, you will be able to wait for the front.

If you sign up through the US Open website, you can enjoy free admission and experience much of what makes the tournament special before the main draw begins. During Fan Week, you can watch qualifying matches, enjoy family and kids' activities, spot celebrities, and explore the grounds without the massive crowds of the tournament's later rounds. The Honey Deuce is a must-try. It's the tournament's signature drink, comes in a souvenir cup, and has earned its popularity for good reason. Make time to wander the grounds between matches. Vendors often have giveaways, interactive experiences, and free goodies worth checking out. Getting there: I highly recommend taking the 7 train directly to the stadium grounds. Parking can be a nightmare, especially on busy days, so public transportation is by far the easiest option. A few things to know before you go: Bathrooms are plentiful throughout the venue. Weekend crowds can be overwhelming, so if possible, take a day off during the work week and visit then. Most courts are outdoors, so keep an eye on the weather forecast and dress accordingly. Bring a reusable water bottle to stay hydrated throughout the day. All guests pass through security screening, so be mindful of bag policies, bottles, and outside food before arriving. Overall, the US Open delivers much more than just world-class tennis. Between the atmosphere, food, fan experiences, and opportunity to see some of the best athletes in the world compete, it's a bucket-list event that I highly recommend. With a little planning, especially by attending during the week and taking advantage of Fan Week, you can have an incredible experience without fighting the biggest crowds.

I've went to both last years (2010) and this years (2011) house and both were wonderful…read more Last's years theme was "Beautiful Dreamer" in which you wander around in a nightmare watching as scenes unfold around you. It was beauitful and haunting and reminded me alot of Sleep No More. Sinister and creepy, but also very artistic and lovely too. This years "Through the Looking Glass" theme was just as wonderful as last year. This time, intead of wandering around freely, you are taken down various paths by different characters. it worked very well and wasstill very creepy and beauitful. I love this house so much and I can't wait to see next years.
