The restaurant is nicely decorated and the server, who's name escapes me, was so great. She even got us a free delicious Apple Fritter style dessert that was the highlight. One thing to note is that the soft drinks/soda are served in small bottles with a glass of ice and it's in the downtown area so parking might be a struggle. This isn't an overly fancy restaurant. We were expecting decidance. There are still plenty of people with t-shirt hoodies and white sneakers around. Try it for yourself, but it's not a spot my wife and I will return to when we are in the area.

I came to The Broadway during one of the darkest times in my life. I was reeling -- burned out, emotionally gutted, trying to claw my way out of the gravitational pull of narcissistic, overbearing parents who'd turned manipulation into an Olympic sport. I wasn't looking for a party. I was looking for a moment of peace. A signal fire. A room where I could breathe and maybe -- just maybe -- find a few kindred spirits. Instead, I found this place. The Broadway presents itself like a sanctuary for the misfit elite -- artsy lighting, ambiguous dress codes, bar staff with thousand-yard stares and $200 shoes. But peel back the velvet and what you get is a hellmouth disguised as a speakeasy. It's like the entire venue is haunted by the ghosts of Twitter cancelations and failed polycules. I barely had time to order a drink before the temperature dropped. Not the air -- the vibe. The silent code of the clique came into full force: side-eyes, studied disinterest, and the quiet sense that I had trespassed into a space where authenticity is a punishable offense. I was polite. I kept to myself. And still, they told me to leave. No explanation. No warning. Just a dead-eyed directive from someone who looked like they hadn't felt joy since Tumblr 2012. I was stunned. I wasn't even being loud. I was literally quietly existing. And they kicked me out. In that moment, it didn't feel like just a rejection from a bar -- it felt like the world saying, "You don't belong anywhere." I stood outside trying to collect myself, and all I could think was: how does a place so hollow manage to feel so cruel? Let's talk food -- because I guess technically they serve it. We came here for dinner on a Saturday night around 7:30 PM. We waited about 45 minutes in a line just to get in to put our name in for a reservation...which is fine, they're busy, I understand. Upon getting to the front of the line, I witnessed a bouncer, ETHAN, physically and violently assault two defenseless people. One person was not even in line and had not been in the restaurant, just on the sidewalk and was violently pushed into traffic several times. The second person had been in the restaurant and was leaving. Ethan decided to drag this man into the street, put this drunk defenseless man into a chock hold, pick him up and slam him into the ground. After doing so, he paced back and forth talking to himself like a lunatic, bragging about assaulting two defenseless people and saying that they wouldn't be the last. This is only what I witnessed during my 45 minutes in line...god knows what the psycho did later on in the night. Mind you, it was 7:30 and the sun was still out...there were children leaving the restaurant and he took out several women during his rampage. I was disgusted by him and his behavior and spoke up. He approached me yelling as in attempt to intimidate me and tried to force me and my group out of line. After passing to go into the restaurant...for dinner...he overheard me speaking with my friend about his behavior, chased me into the restaurant, grabbed my arm and aggressively shoved me into the door....I'm a woman. I was obviously irate and spoke with the manager, he brushed it off and mentioned that the man who was thrown to the ground had been giving them trouble...which in his mind justified the body slam in the middle of traffic and in front of a line full of patrons. He said nothing about the man on the sidewalk Ethan assaulted. He also said nothing about how I was physically assaulted after speaking up about it. Moral of the story, if you don't mind having a small man with a Napoleon complex and roid rage beat you up, go to the Broadway because I walked by the other day and he still works there. read more

I went here with two of my friends and my boyfriend. I went out for a cigarette right in front. I overheard a white guy call a black guy who works there, and who was much older than him, the n word. He said it to the man to address him by the n word, it was said directly to him. I told the guy you really shouldn't say that, especially in a demeaning tone to a black guy, you're white and it's not ok to degrade people because of their race. When I brought it to the attention of the bouncer and the boss, they said people say things like that all the time around there and it's terrible but there's nothing they can do about it. The black guy who works there was clearly pressured to pretend it didn't happen, and he told his boss that it didn't happen. He clearly did this because he felt like he had to in or he would loose his job. The bouncer and boss both told me they wouldn't let the racist guy in, and then did right in front of me one minute later. The black man who works there came up to me though and thanked me greatly for sticking up for him, and how people never do that when they hear things like that. They should not have let a person in the bar who was using hate speech and racism to break an employee down. They refused to do anything about it and didn't care about the well being of their employee. read more

Disappointing Experience Despite the $1 Oysters I visited The Broadway with a friend recently and was really looking forward to the $1 oysters and rose sangria. While the oysters and drinks were enjoyable, the service unfortunately ruined the experience. Our waitress had a noticeably rude attitude from the start. When we asked if we could make a few adjustments to our food -- including due to my food allergies -- she was completely unaccommodating and dismissive. Rather than offering help or alternatives, her response was basically "No, they can't do that. Pick something else. I don't know." It felt like we were bothering her just by asking basic questions about the menu. Restaurants should always take food allergies seriously, and I was really disappointed by the lack of care and customer service here. It's a shame, because the atmosphere and pricing were decent, but the poor service makes it hard to recommend. Wouldn't come back sadly read more

I just moved to Southie and my sister couldn't wait to bring me here, now I know why! I've only been for brunch so far, but it was amazing. The pace is huge, but we didn't feel overwhelmed, it was really a great upbeat vibe for brunch. We had a group of 6 of us, we were seated very quickly, which was a nice surprise because the place was packed. The sunnyside pizza we shared was the best breakfast pizza I've ever had. We also had the french toast, Sausage and biscuit and some breakfast tacos...sooo good!! We ordered their build your own Mimosas which came with some varieties of juices and was fun to share. Service was really great, our server checked in with us a lot and made some great recommendations. We were only disappointed because they were out of the Boozy donut, but will definitely be back soon for that. read more

I'm a high-functioning autistic adult who visited The Broadway in Boston expecting good food and a good time. Instead, I was met with discrimination. After behaving completely respectfully, I was told I was no longer welcome -- apparently because of my neurodivergence. I didn't cause a scene. I wasn't disruptive. I was just myself. If being visibly or openly autistic is enough to get you banned here, that says a lot about how they treat people who are different. This experience was humiliating and deeply disappointing. I hope The Broadway reflects on how they treat disabled patrons -- because this kind of exclusion is not just wrong, it's unlawful. Until then, I wouldn't recommend this place to anyone who values inclusivity, respect, or basic human decency. read more

Fantastic drinks, tasty appetizer/ bar food, and even better staff. I came here on a Saturday night with a group of six girls and was so pleased with the service we were provided from the get-go. Drinks came out super fast thanks to our server. We were being served by Jessie R., who was the perfect melody of attentive, without hovering. I eat plant-based, and she was extremely helpful in showing me which items on the menu could be modified to fit my needs. If it weren't for the food, this review would be much lower. There is no way Broadway is operating under the current MA dining regulations. The entire restaurant was PACKED, and no one even attempted social distancing. The booth of Boston Bros behind us reeked of COVID. They were literally spitting water at each other, walking around without masks, screaming across the restaurant, and talking shit about management when they were asked to stop. My wife and I had an amazing time here this weekend from start to finish. From the second we walked in we felt welcomed. The hostess Katie was very sweet and told us all about their specials and her recommendations! The service was fast and attentive. We had the Wings and the Buffalo Cauliflower! He accused me of cutting and almost made me go to the back of the line.
