My friend had bought a jumpsuit here for her wedding and had a great experience, so it was the first store I went to when it was time for me to find a dress! I knew that I wanted color in my dress, and Lorien had many options for me. The second dress I tried on turned out to be the one! I came in knowing what kind of cut I was looking for, and Amanda pulled every dress in the store that fit my specifications and was so helpful and knowledgeable as I tried everything on. She was also amazing at not pressuring me--I told her I had an appointment booked at another shop, and she encouraged me to go and see if I could find a dress to beat my Lorien dress before making my purchase decision. I've heard horror stories of brides being pressured into buying a wedding dress the day they try it on, so I deeply appreciated the pressure-free experience I had at Lorien. I doubt I could have found my unique white-with-colored-flowers dress at many other shops, so I'm very lucky to have found Lorien!

The shop is so whimsical with nods to popular fantasies such as The Hobbit and Harry Potter throughout. The woman who assisted with the dress selection was very attentive and knowledgeable about the styles my daughter was looking for. All the dresses were exquisite although there was one clear winner. I am writing this review as the sister of a bride who has been dealing with an extremely upsetting…read morealterations experience at David's Bridal in Burbank. Watching what was supposed to be an exciting part of planning her wedding turn into this has been heartbreaking. My sister saved for a year for her wedding dress and alterations. She trusted this location with one of the most important pieces of her wedding, and instead of feeling supported and cared for, she has been left crying, stressed, and uncomfortable even returning to the store to pick up her dress. One of the biggest concerns is that the alterations she agreed to and paid for were apparently changed without discussing the change with her first. Her sleeves were originally pinned in a specific location during her first fitting. At the next appointment, they had been sewn significantly farther inward, changing the appearance of the neckline. She was then told that the sleeves could not actually be sewn where they were originally pinned because they needed to align with the boning of the dress. That raises a very reasonable question: Why was she allowed to approve and pay for an alteration in a placement that the alterations department later said could not be done? There were also serious concerns about how she was treated when she questioned the alterations. Instead of calmly explaining the situation and working with her toward a solution, she described being spoken to in an aggressive and dismissive manner while repeatedly asking whether anything else could be done. There were hygiene concerns as well. During the appointment, an employee repeatedly coughed into her hands and continued touching my sister and her wedding dress. My sister also reported that the employee coughed on or extremely close to her bare back. Our mother, who was present, has an autoimmune disorder, which made this especially concerning for our family. My sister eventually told management that, after everything that had happened, she no longer felt comfortable having this location continue working on her wedding dress and requested a refund for the alterations. That request was denied. She was directed to corporate/customer service, called repeatedly, and was sent back and forth trying to get help. Her dress is STILL at the Burbank location because she does not feel comfortable returning there. This isn't simply about whether someone likes how an alteration looks. It is about communication, consent regarding changes to paid alterations, customer service, hygiene, and how a bride is treated when she raises legitimate concerns about her wedding dress. A bride should not have to repeatedly beg for answers about alterations she paid for. She should not have to discover that something was changed without first discussing it with her. And she certainly should not leave an alterations appointment feeling belittled and then spend days crying over a dress she spent a year saving for. I have watched how much emotional distress this experience has caused my sister during a time that should be exciting for her. I strongly encourage anyone considering alterations here to ask very detailed questions, photograph exactly how everything is pinned, get the agreed-upon alterations documented in writing, and make sure you fully understand what can and cannot actually be done before paying. I sincerely hope David's Bridal reviews what happened and provides my sister with a meaningful resolution. No bride should have her wedding dress experience become this stressful.

My mother and I attended this bridal trunk show at The Phoenician in Scottsdale Arizona, expecting…read morethe elegant, high-end experience we had been promised. We were told it would take place in a grand ballroom at a resort we know well and frequently visit for golf. Instead, there was no one to greet us, no visible signage, and even the hotel staff had no idea what trunk show we were referring to. After searching for the correct location, we arrived and waited until more than ten minutes past our scheduled appointment before our point of contact, Adam, finally appeared and said they needed additional time because they were still with another bride. When we were eventually brought inside, the so-called "bridal suite" was a basic conference room filled with dresses. There was only one inexpensive-looking full-length mirror, along with an unstable, worn navy pedestal that did not feel safe or appropriate for trying on luxury wedding gowns. The changing area was a cramped, storage-like room with no mirror and barely enough space for the large dresses or the assistant helping me. It made the fitting unnecessarily awkward and uncomfortable. The gowns were never properly fitted or clamped to my body. At one point, Adam simply held a dress against me while asking what I thought. Even worse, he repeatedly stood directly in front of the only mirror, preventing me from seeing myself in the gowns I was supposedly there to consider purchasing. His attitude was dismissive and insulting throughout the appointment. While looking at me with his hand over his mouth, he said, "I'm not getting anything from you." When I explained that I simply wanted to try on a wedding dress and feel beautiful, he responded, "You're not going to try on a dress and feel tingly." Isn't that exactly why many brides attend a trunk show--to experience the excitement of possibly finding their wedding dress? He also told me that I might need to try on 100 dresses and suggested that perhaps I "wasn't a designer bride." That comment was especially condescending. My mother and I have spent my entire life around high-end interior design, textiles, and luxury materials. We understand quality, and the gowns we were shown did not look or feel consistent with the luxury image being sold. Several appeared worn, poorly maintained, and improperly presented. Adam's overall presentation was also noticeably disheveled and not what I would expect from someone representing a high-end bridal designer. Because bridal fittings require close physical interaction, the noticeable odor of his breath made an already uncomfortable experience even more unpleasant. We arrived excited and genuinely interested in seeing these gowns. We left feeling insulted, uncomfortable, and desperate to get out of the room. My mother sensed almost immediately that something was wrong, and she was correct. What was advertised as a luxury bridal trunk show at The Phoenician became a disorganized and deeply disappointing experience. A bridal appointment should make a woman feel comfortable, celebrated, and beautiful--especially when a company is presenting itself as a luxury designer. This experience accomplished the exact opposite. I would never recommend this designer, these gowns, or an appointment with Adam to another bride.
