If you want a terrific steak and outstanding service, this is the place. We loved everything about The Brickyard. The ambiance is lovely, the menu has many excellent options, and the service was impeccable. It's a bit pricey, but well worth the cost because of the food quality, portion sizes, and overall dining experience. Amazing experience, I took my wife here for a small special event in our lives and we were blown away with the service, ambience, food and drinks. Our waiter, Avery, was phenomenal. We came to The Brickyard to celebrate my kids birthday after hearing two coworkers talk about they love, love, love this restaurant. We ordered the truffle calamari for starters. I had petite filet mignon, table side salad and truffle fries. It was amazing. The rest of party has ribeye, beef Wellington, soup and potato cakes. Everything was so good. I actually couldn't finish my dinner because of the starter, bread, and salad. Place is very intimate and very fancy. They had a pianist yet the place was quiet that we didn't have yell at each other to talk. We made a pact to come back next year for the sons birthday. But I'm 100% sure we'll be back multiple times before then. We might have found a new favorite restaurant. read more

This place has it all great food, cool atmosphere and our server was fabulous. Got there before our reservation (definitely would recommend one). We sat at the bar and had a cocktail. We were seated and started with the Crab Stuffed Mushrooms and they were delicious. I had the French Onion Soup but kinda wish I did the Tableside Salad. The soup was delicious though. came here for our anniversary on a saturday. I haven't really been out this year so I didn't realize that you needed a reservation absolutely everywhere to get in. when I called to a table the owner chad answered and said they had nothing. when I told him it was our anniversary and I didnt know or i would have called earlier he squeezed us in at an earlier time (5:30) which worked out perfect! the inside is very beautiful and classy. table cloths and a wood bar and everything just feels expensive. we sat by the window in a booth. we got the crab cakes to start. they were literally all crab inside and then a light breading on the outside. I think it's silly they give you an odd number of them but my hubby agreed to split the last one with me! that's love! next came the salads- you get your choice of soup or salad. it was pretty good. they give you options for lots of toppings and I got everything but there wasn't much of anything on it. in between app and meal they give you a really yummy lemon sorbet palette cleanser. I had a teeny bite- very delicious. for our entrees I got the new york and my hubby got the rib eye. he ordered his rare and he said it was absolutely perfect! I got mine medium rare and felt the same. they give you choices of sauce- GET THE BLUE CHEESE SAUCE! it was the best sauce ever. the waiter was going to bring us dessert for our anniversary but we declined because we are actually keto and don't eat dessert. they comped my glass of Prosecco and his beer instead- sooo sweet! if you're looking for a fancy date night out, I really recommend coming here. all that food and our bill was $100! you can't beat that. thanks again to chad and the very kind and accommodating staff, it was a great anniversary! read more

Anniversary Dinner - 3.9 out of 5 Stars. Introduction. This was a Monday night at 6pm, December 2, 2024, we had reservations for our table, this was our 18th anniversary, and we were hungry. We previously had gone to Chandlers for our anniversary dinners year after year and had never been to The Brickyard before. Let's get started on this review. First Impression/Atmosphere. Upon arrival, we met with a pleasant host who allowed us to use their complimentary coat rack before being taken to our corner table. The lighting was really nice, but unfortunately there was a draft all night and I was cold, even though I was wearing long sleeves and pants. I kept thinking I would go ask for my coat to wear during dinner service. The atmosphere was very light and only about a third of the tables were filled with customers. A lady was playing lovely piano music, ranging from jazz, to Christmas, to pop songs. The noise level of the restaurant was much quieter than that of Chandlers, and it made it much nicer to hear and enjoy the piano. Service. We saw our waiter after 25 minutes of being seated, though, we were first greeted by the person who poured our water throughout the night (our water glasses never ran empty). Our waiter went through the menu with us quite well, and after 40 minutes of walking into the restaurant we finally had bread on the table, which was sourdough and served with a vat of butter. It took standard time to receive our appetizers, but there were long gaps between the bread and receiving the appetizers and main course. I was not impressed with the service of my wine glass, as it had gone dry twice with long interludes of not having my waiter come by and check. Quite different from Chandlers, where you are quite literally waited on with the utmost degree of care and your waiters are practically staring at you from afar waiting for the slightest indication that you need something. I rate the service as 3 out of 5. Drinks. The drink menu was nice, with lots of options from bottle service to wine by the glass and many cocktails and spirits. I ordered a local Idaho cabernet, and it suited my fancy. My wife had a lemon drop cocktail that was tasty. Food. The waiter explained that the restaurant is known for its steaks and that's how it separates itself from the rest. So, that was fortunate because that's why we went there...for steaks. The waiter explained that the menu is set up for a meat, potato option, and soup/salad, although you can deviate and have other sides as well. But we kept it simple...Appetizers, soup, meat w/potato option, then the check (no room for dessert). Appetizers/Soup: We ordered crab cakes and parmesan calamari appetizers. The crab cakes were nice, and I would definitely order them again. The Calamari appetizer was interesting, cooked very well...but came with a vat of mayo as the dipping sauce. Calamari was probably the best I've ever had. Not rubbery at all. Cooked to perfection. Would order this again. Still wondering about the mayo though. The presentation of my lobster bisque was delectable. The taste was good. Not great. But good. I'd order it again, but I wouldn't brag about it. Main course: We both ordered the 10oz filet minion, medium rare. It came out perfectly prepared, though it lacked proper seasoning. I could hardly tell there was any salt on it, but fortunately we ordered ours loaded (with sauces; I had a cabernet reduction sauce) and was able to dip each bite into the sauces to achieve actual seasonings. This was disappointing, so I would rate my steak 3 out of 5 for shear lack of flavor. If it contained proper seasoning, I would have rated it 5 out of 5. I also ordered bacon wrapped scallops, which were really good! My wife ordered fries as her potato option and they were served in a cup that reminded me of Boise Fry Company. They were good and crunchy, but this wasn't fine dining. I had potatoes au gratin, which were very cheesy and enjoyable. I'd order that again. That was much closer to fine dining. Our steaks came with roasted carrots and asparagus, which also were not seasoned. I failed to understand this. There was salt and pepper on the table, but this wasn't fine dining if I have to add my own seasoning. However, the veggies were cooked well. After the main meal, we were given a few muffins...which were good, but nothing more than your average muffins from a bakery. They were complimentary from what I saw. Since it was our anniversary, we were also served two chocolate covered strawberries with cool whip. This was nice. Overall food rating would have to be 3.9 out of 5. Why? 5 out of 5 is perfection (Chandlers). 3 out of 5 would be average (Texas Roadhouse). The food was cooked really well, but lacked seasoning and the mayo dipping sauces still baffle me. I'm just not ready to give this a 4 out of 5, simply because of the dumb-founded lack of seasoning on the food. read more

WE had a reservation at 5:30 on a Friday. Anniversary!!! Parking near the restaurant was an issue. We found a place and paid for the space but had to pay again in an hour or move the car. My husband did not do the research for parking so the evening did not start out well. Anyway we got to the restaurant and they messed up our reservation and the hostess walked us around a bit then took us back to the bar to wait for her to get it right. Then we were seated and ignored for over 15 minutes. Finally water was served by a nice young Man. We had no menus or Drink menu. Another 10 minutes and our waiter (Avery) came to table to take drink orders without a menu. Duh? you were not that busy at this point! We had to wait for that again and finally order drinks and look at dinner menu. Hey I understand being busy but we did not order our dinner for 45 mins and we wanted the salad table service before it! That took place but husband had to check car and he moved it! I asked another waiter passing by to tell Avery that we needed to wait for dinner because of the car situation. it wasn't a problem. Husband got back Mad (that is not your fault of course)We do like your restaurant and have been there in the past! Avery was nice enough and we ate salad together and dinner was delivered. The thing on top of the steak is supposed to be a lobster tail??? Came with 2 sides; burnt dry potato a graten and veggies consisting of 1 carrot and 1/2 piece of asparagus. Ofcourse, we immediatley asked for the manager, who explained that they don't have a big enough grill to cook the lobster tails so they steam it?? We went last night for the first time. We have been wanting to try this place out. Overall the service was fantastic and the feel of the restaurant was nice. Our server was great too. We ordered the baked brie as an appetizer which was good but the bread that it came with was extremely salty. For dinner I ordered the wellington and my husband order the fillet mignon. The food looked delicious, but once again the steak was extremely salty, to the point that we were disappointed. The table side salad with half green goddess and half blue cheese dressing was wonderful! Our choices for dinner ranged from fillet, to halibut, to short ribs and a New York Steak. My petite filet was SO good and the potato pancakes were to die for. The mashed potatoes with peanut butter and chipotle were a bit spicy for my taste but everyone else in our party loved them. The only downer was the au gratin potatoes. Meh is being too kind‍ to be fair, every dish has an off night. Horrible customer service! Can't say if the food is any good, never had a chance to try it.... Came in for late happy hr. No host at the front door so I approach the bartender, Mr Personality. I asked about getting a seat and he was too busy trying to do his side-work to bother helping me and motioned towards the dinning room saying I had to ask them, I'm guessing the server. A few mins later the host walked past ignoring me as I stood close to the unmanned host stand. I had to ask the host about being seated and she was confused. I asked what they served for late happy hr and she had no clue and said she would find out, disappearing into the kitchen. She was gone for a long time, returned but did not have an answer for me. Another server walked by and I asked about the late happy hr and he had no idea what was being served and said the kitchen was closed, even tho the website showed the late happy hr being served for another hr. We had a nice dinner before a concert at the Egyptian theater. We had reservations and were sat immediately at a booth overlooking the side walk. Cozy and relaxed vibe with just enough class to be comfortable. The Potato Jackets appetizer were good but a little too much with the multi-course entrees we ordered, (our fault). I had the New York and the wife had the salmon. Both were excellent and the whipped potatoes and veggies were perfect sides. The Christmas margaritas were a nice twist for the holidays. I visited The Brickyard on a business trip and I am certainly glad to have done so. The menu sports a tremendous number of traditional steakhouse favorites (steaks, chops and seafood) but weaves in plenty of tantalizing sides, sauces and upgrades to give you some serious options. On this visit, I ordered from the "Fixed Price Menu", which offers four different complete meal options for a measly $32--what a deal! Specifically, each Fixed Price "entree includes a visit from our table side salad chef, fresh baked rolls, whipped potatoes and an Idaho huckleberry cobbler for dessert." My entree choice was the New York Steak ("Hand cut 10 oz. Certified Angus Beef strip steak seasoned with kosher salt and cracked pepper"), ordered medium rare of course, and I added a cup of the French Onion soup. Let me first say that the presentation at every stage of the meal was spot on. The salad chef whipped up a made to order masterpiece of a salad which even included fresh bay shrimp. My soup was quite good, and the fresh, warm baked roll was a perfect compliment. An unannounced surprise arrived thereafter in the form of a palate cleaning lemon sorbet. My steak was cooked to perfection and, in addition to the flavorful whipped spuds (which were also rockin' dipped in the Gorgonzola cheese sauce served as a steak side), the entree was supported by an ample amount of asparagus spears--yet another unadvertised upgrade to this meal. And the surprises didn't end there. The Huckleberry cobbler was rich and delicious (though, frankly, I would describe is as 9 parts berry to 1 part cobbler), and after paying the bill our server returned with fresh blueberry muffins all packaged in individual to-go containers for what he described as a "breakfast snack"! Like I said, the presentation at every turn was top notch. All in all, The Brickyard is absolutely worth a visit the next time you are looking for a delicious, higher end meal in Boise. I've been here a couple of times and have always enjoyed myself. This is a place that often gets overlooked, as they don't seem to get the hype of some of the other downtown Boise restaurants. Still, I think they're a solid performer. Most recently, I came in for the annual DineOut Boise promotion, where a number of downtown restaurants offer special menus for 10 days. I visited for lunch, where they had corn chowder and a red chimichurri grilled strip steak for $10. Corn chowder is rarely found in restaurants and I'm not sure why. When done well, it shines as bright as any of the better known chowders. And the Brickyard's version was very good. The steak, pre-sliced and placed over a mash of potatoes and squash, along with a light chimichurri, was also very good. Service was curiously up and down. My server took away the empty soup bowl without a word, but then asked what I thought of it when she came back with the steak. And, likewise, dropped off the check without thanking me, but did so later. Odd. read more

The service was initially great if not exceptional, the restaurant itself was well decorated, the table setting were above average for sure. The menu was extensive. Ordered the short ribs with whipped potatoes and French onion soup for starters. The soup was really good, I love French onion soup and this was a good one, highly recommend. The short ribs and it's service really killed the place from all it's positive attributes. It was a slab of fat on a really large bone. Never seen short ribs like this. The couple of bits I got were palatable but really, I expected more for my $43.00. The waiter asked how my meal was I told him it was exceptionally fatty and he stated; "that's a shame" and walked off. We went here for the first time for my wife's 30th birthday. It was busy but the service was still great. My wife had the wellington and mac and cheese for a side which were fantastic. I had the special which was Japanese A5 Wagyu and the parmesean rissotto for a side. That was the best meal I have ever had. If I could afford to I would eat here every night. read more

This was my first time going to the Brickyard. It was the BEST experience! We got there and ordered drinks. We then we're served with homemade rolls which were to die for. After that they brought a salad cart to our table. The salads are made to order right there in front of you. They had many great toppings and dressing options. I loved the blue cheese dressing. They then brought us a sorbet as a palette cleanser. I ordered the ribeye steak which was amazing. The steak was so tender and flavorful. My husband got the sirloin and loved it as well. It happened to be my birthday when I went so they served me a Baked Alaska for dessert. To finish the dinner off, they gave us muffins to take home and have for breakfast the next day.
