The back room they put us in next to the brick was cold, dark and dingy. I had been waiting for the appetizer for over 30 minutes after I ordered it. Ordered three oysters, ribeye steak, shrimp skewers, side of mushrooms, and the steak comes with French onion soup. Everything was very tasty. Special shout-out to the French onion soup. I'm normally not a big fan of French onion soup, but this was done perfectly. The oysters were fresh, the spicy sauce was my favorite. The mushroom side was pricy ($8) but the portion was pretty big - good for sharing. The steak was seasoned perfectly and has great flavor. However, it is a tad too chewy for me. Talk about feeling special today ! My first time visiting Boise. Had my birthday dinner at Brickyard and let me tell you we were treated very well here. We didn't have reservations but was able to getting seating at the bar. They make your salad fresh in front of you. Also after your appetizers you get a lime sorbet to cleanse your palate. lol I never thought about cleaning palate between meals ‍ The meals was exceptional from the steak , shrimp and the best Idaho POTATOES!! The steaks are always perfectly cooked to the tee and aged to perfection; when you cut into it, no juice ever comes out. All the juice stays inside the steak for a very tasty bite. And for a $53 rib eye steak dinner, it comes with a personalized tossed salad OR soup and then a palate cleaning sorbet before the steak which comes with potatoe side of your choice (garlic mashed, peanut mashed, baked potato, truffle fries, potato cake, au gratin, tossed chips). I wanted to leave 5 stars. Service and food were mostly great. We had a reservation for Saturday December 9 at 6pm. I made this reservation on November 16. However, our reserved table was so boxed in by other tables that the "table side salad" was not actually table side. My disabled veteran husband and I both had a hard time getting to and from our table if we needed to get up and go use the restroom. I also had someone else's chair being pushed into my back during our entire dining experience. Also, our reservation was for 6pm and by 7:48pm we still didn't have our dessert or check. I also explained when we were seated that we were attending an event at The Egyptian Theater at 8pm. We never received the wine we ordered to go with dinner either. The problem was very apparent. During our experience a table of approximately 16 was seated and it was painfully obvious that the entire team now had to give this party their undivided attention. Including our server Avery who already had several tables to attend to. In the end, I had to flag someone down to get our check and a box of breakfast biscuits was brought out to us (I'm guessing in lieu of our actual dessert that went with the fixed price dinner). Lesson learned - DO NOT GO ON A WEEKEND AND CERTAINLY NOT DURING THE HOLIDAYS. Just steer clear. read more

My sweetheart took me here for the first time for our 1 year Anniversary! What a wonderful restaurant. I felt the staff was so friendly and down to earth. They even accommodated me with being gluten and dairy free and even adjusted the dinner entree just for me. It was such a lovely experience and we are definitely planning to come back. This place was fantastic from beginning to end! I didn't take many pictures of the food as I was on a date but it was all delicious. The service is top notch! We really enjoyed our waiter and the manager swung by as well to make sure everything was good for us. They have a wonderful wine and cocktail menu. The halibut was cooked perfectly and it's been a while since I've had scallops and these were just right. We also really enjoyed the dualing pianos that came on close to 10pm on the Saturday night we were there. The website says 9 so not sure if something happened and made them late or they just need to update their site. Either way it was a lot of fun and worth the wait. Excellent- we were there on a Wednesday evening. The ambiance was relaxing and friendly. We had Canadian oysters followed by petite sirloin. The medium rare steak was exactly as we wanted but too often is not quite right. This time it was as close to perfect as we could ask. The golden potatoes were light and not too filling. The potatoes with a peanut butter mix were very tasty and enjoyable. Deserts we're light and nicely presented. The after dinner chocolate muffins for the next day were a surprise and much appreciated the next morning. The server, and I apologize for not remerbring his name, was the epitome of friendly, knowledgeable, and kept us aware of any delays. ( we were the couple who ordered the Jefferson Ocean bourbon- not the wine). We have paid more for a meal with less value. I spent my 22nd birthday at the Brickyard, and it did not disappoint. The wait staff was very polite and friendly. My partner and I both ordered fixed menu options, salmon and pork. It started with house made sourdough rolls and whipped butter. Then the salad cart, which was very nice and the ingredients were very fresh and delicious. The green goddess dressing was my favorite. We were given lemon sorbet palate cleansers which was so refreshing and not too sweet. The entries were delicious and it came with grilled veggies and Yukon gold mash potatoes, which were so delicious. Since it was my birthday, I was given a baked Alaska with fudge ice cream inside. Our table was a booth next to the window. One of the best dining experiences we've had since moving to Idaho! We dined at The Brickyard yesterday for my husband's birthday. We came with our 19 month old daughter and a few minutes after being sat at our table, the manager asked if we wanted a side of fruit for her which was very kind! Our waiter was so nice and attentive. We ordered the chicken dinner and salmon dinner- this came with table-side salad as well as dessert. My husband and I are always looking for a great new steakhouse and came upon the reviews fro Brickyard. Overall it was a good meal at a fair price. I ordered the petite filet with potato bacon soup and substituted the creamed spinach instead of one of their potatoes dishes. The steak had good flavor and was tender, but was slightly more on the medium side than medium rare. Still, it was good. The bacon potato soup had really good flavor but was much thicker than I expected a soup to be - almost more of a creamy whipped potato side dish. The creamed spinach I was not impressed with. Instead of a heavy cream, semi-cheesy flavor, I'd describe it more as spinach sautéed in whole milk. It allowed the spinach to be a bit bitter tasting without much flavor to offset it. My husband ordered the ribeye. His was also slightly more medium than medium rare but the flavor was good. With his steak, he ordered the potatoes au gratin. The first bite was good but it was a little blasé from there on out. For desert, I got the creme brûlée. The flavor was phenomenal. My only complaint was that the sugar was so thick that the underlying custard was a bit warm (I'm assuming because it took a bit longer for it to caramelize. It was great tasting, but a colder custard under the crust would have been a nice contrast. The berries on top had good flavor. Service in general was good and personable. They let us know there was a large party in the back room which was delaying the kitchen which was snot an issue since we weren't in a hurry. My only suggestion would be for the easier items like wine, bread, water, etc. to come out a bit faster. read more

We made reservations at Brickyard for our anniversary dinner on Monday night. It wasn't too busy, reservation was not necessary. The place is shaped like a horseshoe. Service was attentive. Food was hit and miss. The winners: -Crab dip! So yum! Looks small but there is a lot in there. - the free sourdough rolls/bread was way too good. It wasn't sour at all - tasted French to me! - beef Wellington - no call ahead required - drinks were amazing. Great bar! - Mac n cheese side with bacon! The whatever: - the duck: not tender but the jelly served with it was good - vegetables were really raw and hard to eat - French onion soup was just ok They also served a lemon sorbet between courses which was a nice surprise. We were seated by the dueling pianos and the drum set which they don't play during the weeknights. The drum set was pretty dirty and one of the symbols was broken. Overall, I would recommend and the place felt a little more quiet and upscale then some others so it was a good choice for a special occasion. read more
