As of right now it's a one star. The blonde waitress looked me in the face multiple times and basically refused to take my order. It took Mel to come over from behind the bar to take my order and assure me she would take care of me. I'll update with the actual food review shortly. (Side note, I normally would have walked out but Mel looked me in the eye with an acknowledgment of what took place). Ok - updating with food and overall review. I got the Hokie and it was good. Juicy, appropriately messy, soft bun and cooked to order. I picked the shoestring fries and probably should have gone with house chips (my preference- nothing against theirs. Also I learned Mel created the Sang-arita which was delicious. I changed my rating from 1 to 3 stars. Didn't go higher because initial impressions are everything and as an out of town visitor, the first impression tainted the whole experience. Hi Jonah, I would like to caveat off of Daniels comment, as I was a member of the group that came in. I as well would consider myself a patron of the bar and a fan until this event. As I certainly give my fair share of business I have to say that I was extremely taken back to have been treated so disrespectfully by the bouncer who had absolutely no grounds to be denying service to paying customers of legal age. This is a great tavern and sports bar off Meeting St in Charleston. Its right by the Charleston Visitor Centers, It was down from the big open air market so less busy than a lot of them right on the market. It has quite a few Craft beers and then a lot of frozen summertime drinks. Food was quite good for bar food. My husband had a Burger with Pickled Beets, Goat Cheese, a Fried egg and Balsamic reduction. Sweet potato Tots came with it. I ordered the Shrimp PoBoy . It was also very good. Stopped by for some food and brews, ended up being Taco Tuesday. Limited menu presented with four different taco options. Tacos were a bit pricey $5 for a single shredded chicken taco with melted cheese, two tortilla chips and guacamole sauce on a flour tortilla that was about 5-6" in diameter. I also got the quesadilla (single)that was the same size tortilla folded over for $3.50. Beer selection at the bar was good, I sampled the local brews, and was not disappointed. read more

I really like The Brick! It's at a good location just north of Calhoun, so easy to get to whenever downtown for any reason! It was just lunch for us with another couple, but we enjoyed it. All four of us had various burgers, and all were good. We also all enjoyed beer from the tap and they had a good selection on tap and in bottles/cans. The food was more bar-ish fare, but all seemed good; not fine dining, along with that price tag, but we all enjoyed it. They had a number of board games/table games - we didn't participate this time, but seemed like a fun place to come with friends and enjoy yourselves. It has a wide open feel with a decent amount of seating (both inside and outside), so it would be rare not to get a place to order up. They also have "community tables" where a larger group can meet at, or a place to make new friends. They have a number of TVs going with whatever sporting events are in season, so again, a good place to come relax, and watch your favorite sport. Service could have been a little better, but maybe it was a one-off and he was having a less than great day. We ate at The Brick prior to our tour of Charleston (departure right across the street). The service was good and the staff friendly. My wife's wrap was good according to her and my mother in laws sandwich was average. Sweet potato tots were somewhat soggy but not too bad. My burger was average as well. Next time we would probably look a little harder for places close by the tour company. read more

I'm actually pretty surprised by this place. I had low expectations because it is below my school, and usually sports bar type places are not my thing (and iI especially dislike a young crowd because I'm crotchety). But the food was great! True, it is closer to pub food than anything else - but my friend and I both had wraps/sandwiches and they were great! Good sized portions, didn't feel like thrown together. Looking for a place to grab a burger and beer with friends? Well this is the place for you! I was a little disappointed on my first adventure here because I had seen the menu and was looking forward to a burger and their Mac and cheese bites. It happened to be a Tuesday and the kitchen was overtaken by Rebel Taqueria so nothing from their menu was available! The food was still great but it wasn't what I was excited about. I went back a second time determined to get those Mac and cheese bites and oooo were they good! The burger was very good too! Chicken wings are the smallest wing ever. French fries come out soggy. The good thing is you don't have to worry about your beer spilling g over as everything including your napkin sticks to the table. Nice server, but food is terrible. Beer is your game than your good. read more

This was a great find. A neighborhood sports bar within walking distance from our hotel with excellent food and good beer/wine selections. I had the pimento cheese snack plate and it was excellent. Now I'm back in Phoenix and craving that pimento cheese! read more

Great place to pop in for drinks and a taco. Wait staff at the bar was very personable and kind. Drinks were great, Prosecco and Mexican Mules. Beef tacos were very good a must try. There is a parking garage right outside the door so winner. Darts anyone? Fun place! Nice crew! I am not sure if it's a dinner establishment. We just popped in late for a cocktail and our tacos came in a paper holder which was totally cool. Just needed a bite and some great drinks and that's exactly what we got. Awesome staff! Sports bar with happy hour specials from 4 pm to 7 pm. Nice selection of drafts, but not a place for beer afficiandos. Menu is mostly appetizers and sandwiches. I certainly miss the old location, but there is more room at this new home! Plus, the new spot is right next to the visitor's center, so there are plenty of places to park. I always considered The Brick to be "just a bar," but they are serving pretty good food! They'll have guests (like Rebel Taqueria) in the kitchen from time-to-time, which makes the menu even better. Cool place that does live music every weekend. Tucked in a sort of random spot (next to SOL), but a large parking garage behind it makes it easy to get in here. The food menu is semi limited, but is bar snack heavy. Largely, come here to drink only. You certainly can get a snack if you need, which is appreciated. It'll likely be fried, but to the drunkest of us, that's not always a bad option. This place is pretty random in its crowds though-- depending on..well who knows, quite honestly. I've seen a different crowd depending on the show at the nearby Music Farm, a different crowd earlier in the night, and a different crowd depending on the day. Ha! The Brick really appeals to a lot of different people, which is cool. They've got happy hour from 4-7pm, with pretty solid specials if you're nearby. Bartenders are all pretty friendly, so they'll be happy to hook you up with some treats! read more

I ordered the BLT it only had a half slice of tomato but it was still good. My boyfriend ordered the grilled wings with Cajun seasoning, they were fresh and juicy. The ranch dressing is really thin, one of the waitresses was actually taking shots of it! It was still good as well. The fried pickles had no flavor of pickles, I'm not sure if they use a super mild pickle but they really didn't have flavor without the sauce. We ordered the hydration margarita with an extra shot....NOT needed! Our waitress was very nice and professional. Overall I would recommend this place for some elevated bar food and a good drink (don't get the extra shot). read more

I've been a big fan of the Brick since their early days on East Bay, and have become an even bigger fan since their relocation to Ann Street. Great staff, great food, and all the TVs and sports packages you could ask for. You'll love it even more if you're a Virginia Tech fan or Eagles fan. read more

So my fiance and I head out on the town in an attempt to watch some Sunday night football. We just moved to the neighborhood and have seen "The Brick" from meeting street several times before. We decide it's the right night to try it out in hopes of finding a regular neighborhood bar. Let me be perfectly clear, the food is actually really good. I myself had the fried pickles to start, and then the cheese steak and my fiance had a salad (not sure which one), but she enjoyed it. This all would be great, however, our waitress appeared to be drunk/intoxicated while serving us. It was a really slow night (there were only two tables on the floor that she appeared to be managing), but she kept bringing us the other table's food/drinks and kept sending our food/drinks to the other table...etc. After several incorrect attempts at trying to deliver our food, we started to notice that she appeared to be slurring her words, was bumping into chairs/tables and was generally aloof to what was going on. Eventually we wanted to settle up but our request was seemingly ignored for another 20 minutes until I had to approach the bar area and requested the bill from the bar keep directly....he was very apologetic and produced our tab almost immediately which we paid to him directly. I'm really not one to write a negative review but the service (from the waitress at least) was generally unacceptable. Being clearly drunk on the job on top of providing poor service is pretty alarming. Like I said before, the food was great but man, that service was unforgettable. Next time I come in, I will be sure to stick with the bar service instead of table waitstaff. read more

After being dissatisfied with a bar previous to this one, we stumbled across The Brick because the amount of tv's and the college football gameday vibe we got was just what we wanted. The server was so nice, very friendly, and very attentive. They played the game over the speakers which we loved. The food was good bar food. I had a cheesesteak sandwich and my mom had the turkey melt. Both delicious! The only reason I gave this review a 4 and not a 5 is because the ventilation is very poor in there, it's very smoky from the kitchen & you leave smelling like a cheeseburger the rest of the day. I popped in The Brick yesterday for a happy hour drink and snack before heading to my dinner reservation. Really impressed by their large outdoor patio space - complete with a large wooden jenga set and cushioned sectional + tables. Inside is very open and eclectic - but still reminiscent of a classic pub (wood-heavy bar/shelving). Their $4 happy hour is NO JOKE. The best around, that I've seen honestly. A large selection of bar snacks including wings, pickles, loaded fries etc. The drink menu includes select $4 draft beers, $3 bud lights and $3 house liquor drinks -- INCLUDING MOSCOW MULES folks. Amazing stuff. My friend and I ordered a few drinks and shared the fried pickles. I'll be back! This is a great new spot. read more

Matty, Mel, Pat, and Ryan are phenomenal. You couldn't ask for a more caring and hilarious bar staff, I hate to recommend this place because I love how low-key it is, but these guys have absolutely earned every star. While COVID has made things impossible (I see you one star review below me, not for food or service but lack of masks), they have absolutely done their best to require safety. Unfortunately, requiring masks is much more difficult than the average sane person would expect but they have certainly done their best! read more
