Came here around Friday at 10:30, place was pretty packed but we were able to get a table. A really cool vibe inside surrounded by World War II memorabilia. The service was quick and attentive. I ordered the captain crunch French toast a good size portion for the price. I did not even need to add the syrup the captain crunch and whipped cream provided all the flavor I needed, 5 out of 5. The French dip sandwich tasted good but was disappointing in terms of size. Although they only charged like $12.99, I have a feeling they shrink the size of the sandwich to keep it at that price. For the size I was expecting probably need to charge 18-19 dollars.m, 3 out of 5. Finally we tried one of their specials the pistachio pie, it was very tasty however, tasted more butter and cream than pistachio. If you really want to taste pistachio you maybe disappointed, that being it said it was still creamy and delicious. I'd give this a 3.5 out 5. The service is excellent and they had a line Saturday morning so I had great anticipation for the food! There is parking in the back. I ordered a very "original american breakfast" but I was pretty disappointed in the taste. My pancakes were dry and crumbly & not tasty, the sausage patty was good but soo tiny, and the eggs came out well. The tabasco sauce made everything taste better but if it were quality to begin with, it wouldn't need tabasco sauce! I also tried the corned beef and potatoes. Also not that good and I was hoping the potatoes would have been crispy. I was very disappointed. I usually like the bomber. They have a unique menu and yes, the Cap'n Crunch french toast slaps. However, it's getting ridiculous trying to order over the phone (which I've been advised to do by their own staff since everything is more expensive on GrubHub). I called 5 times this morning with no answer. I can understand they are busy and probably short staffed for the needs of a Saturday. But it's kind of a slap in the face to me, right? It's just plain rude. Get a busy tone. Implement a way to order pickup online that doesn't up charge customers. Get a manager on the phones. I don't care. No restaurant should let that many calls go unanswered. read more

Cool atmosphere with the WWII pics n mini planes. We came on a busy Sunday. Tight parking around the back or across the street. The restaurant is small so the line was literally out the door. Wait was about 20 minutes and it was summer so not bad. Service was kinda rushed so be prepared to know what you want. We had the corn beef hash and Capt crunch french toast with bacon. Food was just ok. I was expecting a little more from the french toast as its talked about quite a bit. Just wasn't favorable enough to me. My sweetie was ok with the hash but added lots of salt n pepper and hot sauce. Employees seemed like they have worked there for quite awhile and brought the bill quickly. Generally speaking, not a bad spot for breakfast. Service was fast and very friendly and the ambiance was very cool, there are photo ops everywhere, they've really embraced the theme. Pancakes, eggs, sausage and hash browns all lacked much to be desired and came out a bit cold but the signature Captain crunch French toast, totally held its own. I would have given a 5 based on food alone and the other employees being so wonderful. The atmosphere is so cool and the employees are seeming to be having fun with one another all while taking care of business. The host was nice and we learned she does the social media and is the dessert master.The manager was able to tell us so many things about the decor, Rosie the Riveter, the history of the restaurant and World War 2 information. Unfortunately.. our server was horrible. She rushed us through ordering also said "if you read the menu" after she didnt hear my initial response. She kept licking her fingers and touching everything around the restaurant. No other employees seemed to notice. I watched her lick her fingers.. and make coffee, grab food, make waters...how gross. I was paying and she almost bashed into me. If I didn't dive into my boyfriends back I probably would have been on the ground. Tried the famous "Bomber's" in Ypsi this past weekend. I go by the idea of getting what restaurants are known for, so I knew I was getting the Captain Crunch French Toast. I thought it was really good! I did want the cereal to shine a bit more, but it can be hard when there is syrup and whipped cream involved. My friends decided to stray off the beaten path and were disappointed with the hash browns and potatoes in their meals. If they fried those up a bit more, I think their meals would've been delish too! Our server was incredibly nice and attentive and we were sat pretty fast, which I heard is unusual. It was clean, busy and staff friendly. I had the Bomber Omelet and the wife had pancakes. Both were fantastic and filling and priced within reason. I had been living in Ann Arbor for about 10 years before my husband realized I'd never been to the Bomber in Ypsi. He was shocked and we immediately made a plan to go on a Saturday afternoon. I prepared by looking at the photos on Yelp and decided that I was going to go big for my first visit and went with the Sunrise Biscuit, a biscuit layered with sausage patties, two eggs, American cheese, and topped with country gravy. My husband went even more over the top with the Bomber Omelet, a combination of four eggs plus ham, sausage, bacon, onions, green peppers, mushrooms, and several slices of American cheese. Potatoes for both of us and an order of french toast to split for good measure. It was all so good! Nothing fancy but perfect the comfort food. Plus cheap and the portion sizes were absolutely wild. And the servers were just incredibly friendly. We got there right before close and they were still so welcoming and warm. The interior is also fun to look at, as it's basically an homage to the Willow Run bomber plant that operated in town during WW2. You'll find tons of memorabilia all over including newspaper clippings, photos, model planes, military uniforms, etc. My husband is a big airplane nerd and he loves taking it all in! The volume and quality of food was very American. Quite possibly the worst food I've ever eaten. The concept of "fresh" does not exist here. So many potatoes and all under cooked and under seasoned. We went flying yesterday morning and since we were starving, at least me, we decided to hit up Bombers! We got in right before they close. They stop serving food 15 mins before they before. close. We got there 30 mins before they closed and snagged a booth. We ordered the Mexican omelette and the homemade corned beef (option to order canned corned beef too). Portions are huge! My husband and I had takeout boxes for our leftovers. If you're able to check out this diner, make sure to spend some time looking at all the history. The restaurant has interesting decor and model airplanes hanging on the ceiling. The servers are quick and pleasant. The food is generous. I had the steak and 2 egg breakfast with my eggs over easy and I asked for my potatoes extra crispy. The biscuit that came with it was good but whipped spread was brought to the table instead of butter. The steak was cooked well and was the quality you would assume at a diner. It t wasn't super tender but it was seasoned well and cooked how I wanted. The potatoes were ample but they were not cooked the way I wanted and seemed to need to be cooked more. I love diners. There's always something on the menu for everyone and the decor often harkens back to a time when life was simple. The theme of this particular establishment appears to be aviation (hence the name). I was immediately feeling good about my decision to eat here. Since I was craving fried fish I decided on the fish and chips, which happened to be that day's lunch special. My server was very attentive and brought all my items in a timely fashion. As far as food is concerned I was satisfied overall. The fried cod was good/average with the tarter sauce being a little disappointing. I think the one thing I didn't care too much for was the very runny coleslaw. It tasted fine, but just soggy and obviously needed a plate underneath to catch the excess. Just passing through Yipsalanti Michigan we stopped for brunch. The waitress was very friendly and attentive. This restaurant is all about Veterans and the women that went to work when the men went to war. There are pictures of some of these women. It is very cool. You will never find this restaurant if you don't know have at the least a general understanding of downtown Ypsilanti. The way this place sits is so bizarre but it's definitely worth the quest (just use gps lol). Doesn't look fancy or anything but it has a beautiful Rosie the riveter mural on the building, so I guess that's a great way to identify it. Anyways, I've been wanting to try this restaurant for a while and since hubby was in the dog house he decided today was a good day to take me there. So let's dive right in while my memory is fresh.... Upon arrival we were seated in a cozy little booth and brought water by the nicest waitress, I'm sorry I don't remember her name. I ordered breakfast; the crab omelette with fried potatoes and a homemade biscuit. Hubs ordered the Mexican omelette with fried potatoes and a biscuit. The food came fast and was hot, freshly prepared. It was just okay to me mediocre tasting omelette, a lot of flavors but they weren't particularly working well together. The potatoes were pretty standard potatoes they were edible. The biscuits were tasteless rocks. I even added butter and tried another bite... moment of silence, still nothingness. The military decor is fantastic, the waiters are the sweetest and fast, and it's a local favorite. Cheap, hot, good food served in impressive portions. I recommend the American fries, the biscuits, omelets, or French Toast. *If you're vegetarian, you may want to avoid the potato items and focus on French Toast and/or omelet as sometimes with the flat top, there can be some cross-contamination with the meaty goodness. read more

Favorite breakfast place in Ypsilanti! Easily one of the best restaurants around. If you're here before 11:30am expect a wait out the door no matter what day it is. They do a good job at seating people accordingly with the limited seats that they do have, but there's still always a wait, but trust me when I say, it's worth it. I've always come with someone so my favorite thing to do is get two entrees and then share them so I don't have to choose between my two favorite entrees. A little selfish, I know, but none of my friends have ever complained about the food ordered. Ya girl knows what's good at the Bomber! My go tos are the captain crunch French toast and the country skillet. The French toast comes in one, two, or three, and I always go for the three when I'm sharing it. The toast is perfectly thick and the whip cream is to die for. The country skillet is huge, filling, and looks like a heart attack on a plate but it is so good it's all worth it.
